The effect of the additonal erythromycin you took, "on top" of the azithromycin would only increase the probablity that your NSU would be cured. It would not reduce the effectiveness.
I was just going to say that I am pregnant and am allergic to more than one antibiotic and zithromax or azithromycin ( the generic) is what they give me instead. It is an erythromycin based antibiotic which is like they said before category B and as safe as you get in medicines. Nothing is rated A. I work in a pharmacy. Relax!

Minor point, not your main question: absence of lesions is poor security against syphilis and herpes. Most such infections are transmitted by infected persons who don't have any visible signs of infection.
Actually, if your treatment failed, most would then prescribe doxycycline plus metronidazole, precisely becuase erythromycin is similar to azithromycin. EWH.
I have been on multiple courses of antibiotics, starting with the standard azithromycin single dose, then double dose, doxycyline for 7 days, doxycycline for 7 days plus metronidazole for 5 days, doxycycline for 7 days plus something else for 5 days, and finally erythromycin at 500mg 4 times a day for 21 days. I've just finished the erythromycin and the symptoms (clear discharge and slight burning/tingling) have come back.

I was hoping that a member here could give some advice and/or similar experience to that one that i've having right now. If you have any insight i would appreciate a response. i'm already discussing the issue with my doctor, but this forum is perfect for additional info.
On about Sept. 15 I was diagnosed with non-chlamydial nongonoccal urethritis after a clear discharge (very clear, like mucus) and i took azithromycin (1 oral dose) to try to cure it.
Azithromycin in a dose of 1000 mg is one of the recommended therapies for NGU. the other is doxycycline, 100 mg twice daily for 7 days.
But usually most penicillin, cephalosporins are thought to be safe, whereas macrolides, such as erythromycin, azithromycin, are thought not to be. Also the antifungals are also not safe ( all the ones ending in azole). Besides antibiotics there are many other drugs which can also prologue the QT interval which you should be careful with.

Yet, he prescribed me 3g of Azithromycin, 2g of Flagyl, and 500 mg X2 per day of Cipro. Killer diarrhea. Gave me an anal fissure....and frequency of urination, burn, and redness of penis tip were my symptoms. I got tested 3 times for STDs...yet all negative. Doctors told me I was fine....it was in my head. Urologist gave me something to calm the spasms. So, I had sex with my wife. Only once....and it didn't last long. Finally, went to another doc..
Oh did you mean azithromycin or erythromycin? Was it a few pills at once or spread over a week or so?
After discovering greenish discharge in my underwear in the morning, I went to my doctor who prescribed me the usual course of 1 g of Azithromycin and 1 400 mg of Cefixime for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. At first my symptoms lessened but later returned. I waited two weeks before seeing my doctor again who prescribed me the same medication. I did test positive for Chlamydia. Again the symptoms receded but again they returned.
I am concerned about possible drug interactions between the antibiotic azithromycin and the two heart medications warfarin and amiodarone. My relative has brief history of heart problems span one and a half years (though the underlying heart condition itself appears to be congenital). Rhythm problems resulted in CHF, hospitalization, and later diagnosis and heart surgery. Subsequent dysrhythmia and CHF has been prevented adequately with medication.
However, if you do need antibiotics after extraction, amoxicillin and metronidazole, erythromycin( erythromycin, azithromycin, clarithromycin) and metronidazole are commonly prescribed for periodontal infection. You may address your condern to your dentist.
My question is after taking the following meds over the space of 3 months, Jan - march are there any sexually related infections that could have survived? - 7 days of penecillin VK, 1g of Azithromycin, followed the following day by 7 days of Erythromycin @ 250mg x 4 per day, 10 days of Trimethroprim, 10 days of Ciprofloaxcin @ 500mg twice per day.

Performance of cunnilingus on an infected partner rarely leads to transmission of infection and even if it did, cough is not a typical sign of any STD. Further, having been treated with azithromycin, if your cough was due to a bacterial cause (STD or otherwise,), the azithromycin should have cured it. I suspect that your persistent cough is more likely to be a coincidence rather than directly related to your performance of cunnilingus on your partner.
My last question, is if I should rule out NGU based on my experience?
Would the azithromycin, biaxin, or Erythromycin clear it up if I had it?
would it have cleared up on its own after the several months?
I only ask b/c its the only thing I didn't test for, and seems to be a culprit a lot. I am so paranoid and focused on all areas that I think all are signs of burning.
She has also just been prescribed a weeks worth of erythromycin at 250 4 times a day. Would this cure any potential infection for her had I passed one on? Also I have confronted the female I had the sexual encounter with and she stated that she was tested for all STD about 2 month ago which were negative and she has not had sexual relations with anyone since before me.
