Azithromycin dosage in cats

Common Questions and Answers about Azithromycin dosage in cats

zithromax

a stray male cat showed up last night. Looks about 6months. Has an abcess on tail about half down. Has puss. Don't know how to help it. I have azithromycin 200 mg that pharmacist measured wrong. Can I use this for cat.
-- azithromycin (Zithromax) and atovaquone (Mepron) for 4 months -- clindamycin (Biaxin) and cefdinir (Omnicef) for 5 months -- stopped due to edema -- metronidazole (Flagyl) and azithromycin (Zithromax) for 4 months + 1 week -- stopped (dr's orders) due to severe intestinal inflammation from Flagyl Now 3 days after stopping the meds, I can feel the disease symptoms creeping slowly back, and want to figure out (before seeing my dr again) what tricks there are to tolerate these meds again s
That's one way some LLMDs confirm or eliminate Lyme diagnosis - they give you a trial of antibiotics and then if no herx, it's likely not Lyme. I have been on Samento (Cat's claw) and it gave me a major herx. I can't tolerate it. Just five drops of Samento put me in bed for 3 days!! Lets examine your current meds: Hmmm, lumbrokinase is a proteolytic enzyme, rather than an antibiotic. It helps prevent coagulation (a real problem in Lyme disease) so lumbrokinase shouldn't cause a herx.
For the last 3 years he's been taking oraxim (I think it's name in English is acetyl cefuroxim) 250mg twice a day and azithromycin 3 times a week. He's seven now, so started that when he was 4. I'm starting to think, if this hasn't cured him by now, will it ever? Does he need different abx? Or maybe he's actually cured? The lab in Germany looks for antibodies and measures CD57 as its main means of looking for activity levels.
The next bloodwork I had done was to check to see if I had something called Cat Scratch Disease. Apparently, cats may have a certain bacteria living underneath their claws that does not harm them, but when they scratch a person with their bacteria-infested claws, the person can become ill, and apparently can present with the symptoms I had. I knew for a fact that none of my cats had scratched me, but my doctor wanted to check for it since I owned cats.
fwiw My LLMD was an all-antibiotics kind of doc (with probiotics added to replenish the 'good' bacteria), and it took a few months of treatment with Mepron/atovaquone and Zithromax/azithromycin for 4 to 5 months. I'm very sensitive to meds etc., and had no problems tolerating the treatment.
I know this sounds wierd but i am scared to do the ct scan since my stomach might react to the barium sulfate drink and i am scared of the dye they have put into my veins The possible side effects of the barium drink are • bloating • constipation (severe or continuing) • cramping (severe) • nausea or vomiting • stomach or lower abdominal pain • tightness in chest or troubled breathing Now i already am having shortness of breath and bloating and tightness in chest so that is why i am scared
I then was tested for Whooping Cough, they did the swab through my nose and also did bloodwork. I have not got the results back yet, but in the meantime I was also prescribed Azithromycin. I have taken three doses of the Azithromycin and still do not feel any better!!! I do not know what to do?! Nothing is working and I can't take this anymore..........
I didnt' want to raise this among all the other worries, but I was also wondering about this. My son was born 2 weeks past due date, which is definitely not a good idea either, but every week inside Mum counts for a baby. However, I don't think it's a really big deal and the doc must have is reasons - though I would ask him what they are! On to other things.
