Well, that's the dosage for chlamydia. If it was a bacteria from anal to vaginal, the dose would have been different.

Before leaving Costa Rica 11days ago, I went to a local Pharmacy and asked for some medications for STDs. I was given 2 tablets of 500mg (total 1000mg or 1g) of Azithromycin, which I took after eating a meal, and right before I got on my flight back home.

So 2 days after that i go again to the doctor and get tested, and he said i got it again. So they gave me another Azithromycin + Doxycycline with same dosage. After one week treatment i waited for 3 days and go get tested again. They said im on the clear. Several days after that, with my partner i only does foreplay (No kissing, no sex and 100% Sure that her fluid doesnt touch my genital. Only at hand). I suddenly get another watery discharge. So i decided to buy Ofloaxcin for 7 Days.
One more thing I was only given one prescription of azithromycin for one dosage of 4 pills at once. Is that normal amount or is it a week cycle that has to be used to clear any infection of another NGU cus I did test negative for it chlaymidia and gonorrhhea.

I have just finish the treatment for gonorrhea after finishing the prescribed 5 day dosage of azithromycin. After further reading on azithromycin in the internet, I stumbled upon some people saying including in this forums that taking azithromycin can affect the vdrl for syphilis. I'm starting to get worried. I didn't notice any symptoms of syphilis on me at all. So is it possible that azithromycin can affect the vdrl for syphilis?
I hope my doctor knew what he was doing.

I had gotten a checkup and chlamydia came poisitive. I had gotten a one time dosage to treat it I believe it was Azithromycin. I noticed discharge silk had yellow tint still two weeks later I got my period and still after sill was the same. I went once more to the doctor and I came out with negative for chylamydia. I’m in awe because if it’s negative why do I still have this discharge that has an odor to it that , kind of feels like it goes down randomly?
If you took azithromycin in one dose, that would take up to around 7 days to fully work. If you took doxycycline for 7 days, it will be cured by the time you are finished those meds.
I'm guessing, maybe, that you were being treated for chlamydia and had sex too soon. If that's the case, your partner should be told to test. If your partner was being treated and you had sex too soon, you should test.
As chance would have it, I have lead most of the research that has been done on azithromycin for syphilis therapy. A number of studies have shown that azithromycin in a dose or 2.0 grams (4 500 mg pills) taken at one time is just as effective as penicillin for syphilis treatment however, there are some cases of treatment failures with azithromycin for syphilis treatment and many of the treatment failures have come from San Francisco where you apparently live.
The dose of azithromycin you would take and has been proven effective for treatment of chlamydia and NGU. No question about this. Studies of gonorrhea done over 10 years ago would suggest that this would cure about 70% of gonorrhea. finally, when studied over 15 years ago 1.0 gram of azithromycin was highly effective for syphilis prevention. since then there have been some reports of failure of this dose to prevent syphilis in exposed men who have sex with other men.
I had some azithromycin prescribed to me for diarrhoea from my doctor before I came overseas, to use in case of illness/travellers diarrhoea and inability to see a doctor.

I went to my Gynecologist and she treated me for Chlamydia because I never had any type of STD ever. I took the Azithromycin last week Wednesday and a few days later I am experiencing an odor. I have had BV before so I know what’s that’s like but a STD I don’t know what to expect or what is next. Can someone tell me do I need to be treated for BV even if the Azithromycin is still working in my body. I read the Azithromycin last a while in the body. Can someone tell me what’s going on.
m taking metronidazole 500mg for the BV for 7 days. I took the azithromycin on the evening of the 16th. I have to mention that today the discharge is almost nonexistant, whereas before it was obscene. My partner lives in another state, as soon as I received my results I told him to seek treatment.
I have another question. I missed my period which is very, very unusual. Could a missed period be due to the gonorrhea infection? My period is always early or right on time.
my pcp gave me motrin 600mg and Azithromycin. if i take the motrin every 8 hours, it will suppress the fever, but if i miss a dosage, i get the fever back again.

I have not tested for STDs yet but I have taken a 5 day regiment of 250 mg azithromycin. The Itch is still there, I am starting on the refill today, same regiment.

I went to get checked and the doctor prescribed 1g of azithromycin. That dosage should be enough for chlamydia, but after research, it seems like i might have gonorrhea since it was only oral. Chlamydia seems rare to be transmitted through oral.
I also saw on this site that another user was prescribed cipro 500mg and 1g azithromycin. Dr. Hhhhhh said that should be sufficient. I had extra cipro I my house, so i took 500mg along with the azithromycin.
