Common Questions and Answers about Azithromycin coverage

zithromax

Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with a prostate infection and im taking Bactrim for it, but I think its more urethritis and I know they prescribe azithromycin for that...
3054904 tn?1340321059 This week on 20th of June I was treated for diagnosed chlamydia infection with 4 x 250gm Zithromax/Azithromycin. My partner went trough same treatment too. But she only took pills yesterday. We knew that unprotected sex was a no go for us so we used a condom. Luck wasn't on our side today and condom broke. Big times. I only noticed it after I tried to get in her, before that it was just dryhumping.
Avatar f tn I have had more costly issues with (lack of) coverage for the prescriptions, because most of them have limits on the number of pills that the insurance will cover in a given period of time. For example, azithromycin was covered for 6 pills every 28 days (and of course, "covered" means they will pay their part of it). I needed 24 pills every 28 days, so I had to pay the full cost of the 18 that were over what the insurance company determined was sufficient.
Avatar n tn I just received my chlamydia treatment in the form of 4 tablets to be taken in one dose of Azithromycin. I starting menstruating today and I didnt know if there would be any reason this would affect the effectiveness of the drug. Also my partner was just treated yesterday...How long before we can resume having sex?
Avatar f tn After taking Azithromycin and getting a shot in my butt and waiting 7-8 days is it safe for me to receive oral sex from a female even if my symptoms cleared up the next day I took them and after being treated and given a shot and if I got treated within 5 days in noticing something is my chance of getting rid of a STD higher since I reacted on it faster and after waiting 7-8 days after taking azithromycin and getting a shot can not use a condom and still be safe even when the symptoms cleared up
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with Chlamydia about a week ago. They gave me Azithromycin, 4 tablets at 250mg to take all at once. I took them and have severe stomach cramping and nausea, and ended up getting sick about 45 to an hour after taking the last pill... hoping that I would have already digested it before I got sick. The stomach pain lasted the rest of the day. It's been about 3 days now since I have taken it, but I still have that "burning" sensation after I urinate.
366262 tn?1360031596 That's awesome! You're so lucky to have IVF coverage! The IVF process basically goes over two months. The first month to suppress your ovaries (you'll probably be on lupron and possibly also birth control); and the second month to stimulate your ovaries, grow the follicles, retrieval and transfer. Most women are on the follicles stimulating meds for about 10 days or so.
Avatar m tn Since most people who respond with good info are from America coverage for the next several days might be spotty. So be patient and if your question has not been answered by Monday then please "bump" your question back up.
Avatar m tn During this time of the year coverage for this forum tends to drop some due to the Holidays. Please be patient and we will try to answer all questions that come in, but it may take several days.

1692704 tn?1307211780 My Azithromycin makes me very nauseated when I take it. I do take it along with food, but this doesn't always help. Anyone ever experience this with an antibiotic and if so, any suggestions to alleviate it??
Avatar n tn 2%) on azithromycin and 1/22 (4.5%) on ciprofloxacin. Hence, azithromycin stat dose has proved to be a cost-effective treatment for uncomplicated gonorrhoea supported by the increased prevalence of penicillin-resistant organisms, concomitant chlamydial infection and the high failure rate in keeping review appointments.
Avatar m tn Whether or not that is done, without awaiting your test results, I would recommend you be treated for gonorrhea -- which also routinely includes coverage for chlamydia/NGU as well. In most of the world, the usual treatment would be an injection of ceftriaxone plus oral treatment either with azithromycin (single dose) or doxycyline (7 days). You could also print out this thread as a framework for discussion with your doctor or clinic.
Avatar m tn I have just finish the treatment for gonorrhea after finishing the prescribed 5 day dosage of azithromycin. After further reading on azithromycin in the internet, I stumbled upon some people saying including in this forums that taking azithromycin can affect the vdrl for syphilis. I'm starting to get worried. I didn't notice any symptoms of syphilis on me at all. So is it possible that azithromycin can affect the vdrl for syphilis? I hope my doctor knew what he was doing.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Azithromycin for 4 days. I have gotten worse. Still have fever and have developed nasal congestion with yellow discharge. ENT gave me Spectracef. I read that Spectracef does not treat mychoplasma. So, is there an antibiotic that would treat both mychoplasma AND sinusitis incase I have one or both?
Avatar n tn I was prescribed 1g of azithromycin 3 weeka ago in the UK for chlamydia. Unfortunately from a bad reaction I had to a medicine years ago, I have a phobia of tablets, so I crushed the azithromycin, mixed it with water, waited for it to dissolve (about 2 hours), and drank it (very foul bitter taste). After 3 weeks, my chlamydia is back, exactly the same stomach cramps, and discharge (I'm female).
Avatar m tn We we both prescribed 1000mg of azithromycin, 4 bills at 250mg. After 7 days of taking the medication we engaged in protected vaginal sex (condom). About 2 weeks later we performed unprotected oral sex (both of us giving and receiving) and continued with protected vaginal sex. 4 weeks after taking azithromycin I got re-tested for chlamydia which my results came back as negative. Her's came back as positive. How common is it for 1000mg azithromycin not to be effective for clamydia?
