Azithromycin and thrush

Common Questions and Answers about Azithromycin and thrush

Hi I was treated with a single dose of Azithromycin on the 10th of Dec so exactly three weeks ago, I also had thrush that I was treated for. Three weeks on I am experiencing some discharge, minor vaginal soreness and itching, but I also have an itchy anus which bled last week. Are these just lingering symptoms that will go away or do I still have it? Also, the night I took the antibiotics I had sex with my partner, could this have stopped them working? Thank you!
He told the doctor about my symptoms aswell and he said doctor said we could just be passing a bit on nasty bacteria back on forth, it could just be thrush, or it could be from going from anal sex to vaginal penetration without washing his penis.
somehow ive managed to be diagnosed with both chlamydia and thrush. just took my 1g of azithromycin but i'm not sure if i should wait to use the thrush treatment or not. won't the antibiotics in my system just cause a repeat break out of thrush? also, its a single does treatment..
Then he gave me a antibiotic shot, azithromycin pills, and mouthwash and sent me on my way and said it would clear up and ill be ok soon.
I now think that I have thrush (I don't pass the spit test and it's painful when I brush my tounge) and I'm worried that this is an HIV symptom. Would a week be too soon for a symptom like thrush to show up? I'm terrified to go back to my doctor. Do you think that thrush could have been caused by the antibiotics and/or stress? Right before it happened I was also using Cepacol antibacterial mouthwash. I haven't had a fever at all since this happened.
At about day 21 I saw a small white patch on the back of my tongue and then went to ENT on day 24th and he said that this is Oral thrush and said it can be because of Burping and PH change and prescribed me nyastain Oral. All of these days I convinced myself that I have HIV and I am in super stress. On day 28 I went for Rapid Antibody which was negative. I still have oral thrush and has been a week and Nystain has not helped me.
Thrush can indeed occur as a result of antibiotic therapy, but usually only with more intensive and prolonged treatment than yours. Azithromycin rarely does it at any dose or duration. And thrush usually causes soreness in the mouth, not throat. And a sense of "warm" urine is not a symptom of NGU. More likely it is related to urine concentration, which in turn varies with diet and fluid intake (concentrated versus dilute urine). Without visible discharge or evidence of it (e.
I went back to the doctor and she told me I had Oral Thrush and was given a prescription nystatin and needed probiotics. I did this and everything cleared up. Fast forward two weeks: I got all four wisdom teeth removed. I was given a prescription of azithromycin and a methylprednisolone pack. I also was informed to rinse my mouth out with warm salt water. On the last day of the antibiotic (day 5) I noticed a weird taste and that same discoloration on my tongue.
I saw a Dr yesterday before I saw your answer and he gave my prescriptions for a longer 5 day course of azithromycin and metronidizole combined, and after that he said 7 days of doxycycling would be the only thing he would try as I have tried most treatments. However I have had muscular and joint aches and stomach problems towards the end of my ofloxacicin so I think I need to wait 2 or 3 weeks until I try further antibiotics. A) do you agree?
I searched online for what this was and I found thrush, I found that some patients with hiv experience this. Scared I called my doctor, yet he told me that it is a side effect that is common with the high dose of augmentin I recieved. I finished the augmentin and I have no sore throat just thrush I recently started an anti fungal for it though. So I have some questions. 1.When someone contracts HIV are symptoms spread out like this? 2. Is 6 weeks too late to have symptoms of ARS? 3.
I brought a home test chlymida kit and wait till 2 weeks since the unprotected sex and it was negative but still being worried I took 2 500mg tablets of Azithromycin and 2 200mg of Suprax (Cefixime) 200mg. Other than the thrush symptoms and general awearness of my vaginal ive not had any symptoms. I've not had sex since. I took the medicine about 48 hours ago ( I had diarrhoea a few hours after taking the meds I believe one of the side affects) and yesterday had a whiteish discharge.
I was diagnosed and treated for NGU with azithromycin about a month and a half ago. The azithromycin was a one time powder mixed with water. About 3 weeks after taking the azithromycin I noticed that my penis head was pealing. I assumed this was some kind of yeast infection but by the time I got to the doctor it was gone. Last week (a month since being on the azithromycin) I woke up with oral thrush.
I was so terrified of this medication because I've heard it can cause heart palpitations and ventricular arrhythmias I didn't even take it until the illness got so bad I almost couldn't get out of bed. Well, I finally broke down and took it because I am so sick and am on day 2 and am having real scary palpitations. My doctor assured me this would not happen. Anyone else have this with Zithromax? Am I dying? I am terrified to death - I hate this so much!
Thanks for you's an update: I went to the doctor last Monday and they told me the chlamydia was gone but they couldnt explain why I still have a discharge, itching, and oder....this is driving me crazy....what's wrong with me?
One doctor told me that only 12% of people experiencing ARS will get oral thrush and in some of those cases the thrush may appear as a white tongue only looking like a bacterial infection and not all over the mouth, yet another told me that white tongue has absolutely nothing to do with ARS and that thrush only occurs in very late phases of HIV infection.

About 3 weeks later my wife got a thrush infection and a week after that I got some read spots on head of penis and under foreskin. These disappeared in a few days but then I noticed a purulent discharge and so went to GU clinic. Diagnosed as NSU and over next three months it kept recurring despite abstaining from sex and being treated with Azithromycin 1 dose, Doxycycline 1 week, Erythromycin + Metronidazole 1 week, and lastly Azithromycin again for 5 days.
I was tested negative for HIV and Hep B and Syphilis at 11weeks and 3days. I was also tested negative for gonorrhea and positive for chlamydia at 10 weeks and 2days. I was gona get tested again at 6months for HIV, Syphilis and Hep B to make sure, what do you think? I noticed a red bump, i think it might be a blister inside my mouth, what do you think it might be?
I gave and received unprotected fellatio about two months ago. First new encounter after 20 years of monogamy. There was no ejaculation in my mouth from the oral, but there was some pre-cum. Unfortunately, not knowing at the time about the increased risk factor, I had a deep gum cleaning about a week before that. A couple days later, I developed a sore throat. It went away a few days later, then returned, and stuck around until six weeks from the encounter.
For the last 6 months I have been getting tearing (look like paper cuts) in my vaginal area (1/4 to 1/2 inch long). I get the tears at least once or twice a week and they last from 2-4 days, go away for a few days and then come back. They continue to occur in the same locations; 1. Inside the vaginal lips on the sides almost always in the crease (between the labia minora and majora?) 2. Between the anus and vaginal opening (perineum) 3. Above the clitoris in the "hood" area.
Elbows • White tongue (Oral Thrush) • Neck (Hair Folliculitis) 3. Recurrent Diarrhea, else soft stool; burning and itching at stool. 4. Numbness in arms and legs. For eg. When sitting or standing in one position for 1-2 minutes. 5. Body ache, fatigue, weakness, malaise, feverish feeling, back pain, chest pain. 6. Allergic Rhinitis, Viral URTI, fat deposition on stomach.
Started taking the Z-pack Azithromycin this morning. This has to be the last. Thrush in my mouth, am almost at wits end. Tired of being sick and tired. Been on anti-biotics since around the 6th of October. It'll be 1 month in 2 days. UGH!! As soon as it's over, I'm calling in for my flu and Pneumonia shots. Not playing this game again! Praying for full recovery or death, not sure which one. Don't have the strength to do my exercises from my therapy. Feels like I'm back at day 1 without therapy.
My tonsils arrant red at all but I am now feeling unwell and constantly tired. Even through I have the oral thrush if I had oral gonorrhoea would it still show up? Realistically what are my chances of oral gonorrhoea? How likely am I to pass it on through oral sex and kissing? I've heard to can clear up it's self, is this realistic? Even with my current throat state? Thanks, as u can tell I'm over anxious.
She gave me a preemptive strike and gave me 1g azithromycin(onetime dose), also Cipro 500Mg(2 a day for a week) in case it was my prostate. She did a urine test for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea which came back Negative. I worried about the accuracy as I had just urinated about 20 mins prior so I went to another lab and had another one done. It also came back negative. I still have discomfort and now developed Thrush.
Under my foreskin/ head I did have a red rash for two days twice while all this was going on, which my doctor said was thrush and I was given canasten cream which I'm applying. So my questions: 1. Any ideas what could be causing these symptoms? 2. What should I tell my doctor on my next visit? 3. I have got Azithromycin, 1g. Should I take it anyway?
back on january 31, 2008, i noticed discharge and burning and frequency to urinate. i went to the hospital, and was given doxycycline for 7 days. i tested negative for gonorrhea and chlamydia. the symptoms went away completely. that following week, i came down with some form of acute viral bronchitis(could that have anything to do with this?) i was out of work for a week(during this time, the tuesday is when i had unprotected sex for one last time with her).

I received 1 gr of Azithromycin orally and 250 MG of Ceftrianxone in the leg, and a day later the doc called me and said I was positive for Chlamydia. Fast forward to now - 6 weeks later and the Chlamydia symptoms have all come back - but stronger. In addition feel burning in my penis long after I've urinated, and sometimes an itchiness on the outside I've never felt before. Also I feel some itching in my anus. I am having some eyesight issues too, but can't imagine that is related.
