1) I thought that prolonged antibiotic use can lead to thrush. Not just a one time thing as I did.
2) Are the two antibiotics listed above prone to causing oral yeast infections? I just cannot find a lot of information on that online unfortunately.
The only reason I even remotely worry about HIV is that white tongue/thrush is a symptom of HIV. I have never had thrush before and it is coincidental to come roughly 4 weeks after intercourse. (albeit also 13 days after I took the antibiotics).
I wasn't entirely sure what topic to put this under but here is my quesiton...
For months and months I've had trouble with my water works, I've had numerous urine samples, an ultrasound on my kidneys, x rays and I am now waiting on a cystoscopy. I've never felt the need to have an STD test because I have always believed my boyfriend was completely honest about his previous sexual encounters.
About 3 weeks later my wife got a thrush infection and a week after that I got some read spots on head of penis and under foreskin. These disappeared in a few days but then I noticed a purulent discharge and so went to GU clinic. Diagnosed as NSU and over next three months it kept recurring despite abstaining from sex and being treated with Azithromycin 1 dose, Doxycycline 1 week, Erythromycin + Metronidazole 1 week, and lastly Azithromycin again for 5 days.
I was tested negative for HIV and Hep B and Syphilis at 11weeks and 3days. I was also tested negative for gonorrhea and positive for chlamydia at 10 weeks and 2days. I was gona get tested again at 6months for HIV, Syphilis and Hep B to make sure, what do you think?
I noticed a red bump, i think it might be a blister inside my mouth, what do you think it might be?
About two weeks ago I met up with a guy and he gave me a blowjob. I didn't know his status and afterwards I freaked out. Other than that one instance I always use condoms.
A day after it happened I went to my doctor who gave me a prescription for Truvada/Kaletra. My baseline test was negative for all common STDs and HIV.
At about day 21 I saw a small white patch on the back of my tongue and then went to ENT on day 24th and he said that this is Oral thrush and said it can be because of Burping and PH change and prescribed me nyastain Oral. All of these days I convinced myself that I have HIV and I am in super stress. On day 28 I went for Rapid Antibody which was negative. I still have oral thrush and has been a week and Nystain has not helped me.
When I went back to the clinic, the doctor said this whole time it has been Thrush and prescribed me a tablet + cream. I then later read that anti biotocs can cause thrush, and therefore my original problem has not been taken care of.
Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Even just knowing what I have would really improve my outlook on this situation.
Thanks. I'm really at the end of my tether and thoroughly depressed by the whole thing. It's the only thing I think about all day and the constant irritation won't go away. Partner has same symptoms. I can see my Dr stopping even listening to me as we've tried everything and it won't go away. Had 1g of azithromycin the other week and symptoms didn't go. It's just constant and depressing and now I'm even losing weight worrying about it as I can't eat.
Hello everyone I was tested positive for chlamydia and was put on azithromycin, tomorrow will be a week since I have finished the antibiotic and it hasn't even touched the chlamydia I still have discharge and I'm red...what will they do next? And if they can't get it gone by delivery time will I have a C section to prevent the baby from coming in contact with it?
I went back to the doctor and she told me I had Oral Thrush and was given a prescription nystatin and needed probiotics. I did this and everything cleared up.
Fast forward two weeks:
I got all four wisdom teeth removed. I was given a prescription of azithromycin and a methylprednisolone pack. I also was informed to rinse my mouth out with warm salt water. On the last day of the antibiotic (day 5) I noticed a weird taste and that same discoloration on my tongue.
I had my wife tested as well the next day and they sent samples of her away as well a day after me. They did however find thrush. Me and my wife did have unprotected sex a week after the incident with the sex worker and a week before the test where she was diagnosed with Thrush. My wife has never been unfaithful.
1) Could it be an STD from the sex worker or could it be caused by her thrush?
I searched online for what this was and I found thrush, I found that some patients with hiv experience this. Scared I called my doctor, yet he told me that it is a side effect that is common with the high dose of augmentin I recieved. I finished the augmentin and I have no sore throat just thrush I recently started an anti fungal for it though. So I have some questions.
1.When someone contracts HIV are symptoms spread out like this?
2. Is 6 weeks too late to have symptoms of ARS?

At the end of that week 12/16 I developed oral thrush, went to my GP he did not think I needed to test for any stds and said stds don’t cause oral thrush and treated me for me for thrush with nystatin. Went back to the Dr on 12/28 as the thrush was not really improving. He said it seemed more like a coated tongue now and I should use a tongue scraper to finish clearing up my tongue. I insisted on an sti panel including hsv igg 1/2.
The ulcers and blisters can be due to herpes as well. The white coating on tongue can be due to thrush. Thrush appears as white patches in the mouth. Usually they can be seen on the tongue, inside the cheeks, under the tongue, and in the back of the throat. I suggest you to get an examination done from your doctor and get a KOH examination of the scrapings done of these white coatings.
I saw a local doctor who gave me 1 x 1000mg azithromycin and a 5 day course of Cipro (1 x 500mg every 12 hours) and said as I was not local he could not test but that should clear most up... 5 days later there was no change... I saw another doctor who said I did probably have a UTI and gave me 7 days of cotrimoxazole (800/160mg every 12 hours). I am reaching the end of this course with no real improvement and am not due to fly back to the USA for another week so unsure what to do....
This can be caused by normal mouth bacteria entering the urethra. Azithromycin and doxy should cure it, though. Has anyone taken a swab of your urethra and cultured it to see if bacteria grows?
My other thought was prostate, and your enlarged prostate could explain it. Are they doing any further testing, like a PSA or ultrasound to rule out cancer or BPH? https://www.mayoclinic.
I read up some on the internet and I think I might have taken too many antibiotics and killed both the bad and good bacteria in my body. I later found out later that the tablets were 1000mg each. Could I have overdosed and caused a candida infection? I'm HIV+ and my immune system is already compromised, so I just wanted some advice on what I could do. My left eye got irritated and Dr. gave me antibiotic drops for it and it seemed to clear up. But not before moving to my right eye.
I have what appears to be thrush in my mouth and a sensitivity on my penis. And what appears to be bumps around my penis heads. The bumps don't pop orlet out any puss or anything. I've not had discharge or anything. I do occasionally have phantom "drips" from my penis but no discharge at all, just the sensation. I was also tested for HSV 1 and my PCP indicated a level of 16 and explained I've certainly had hsv1 for a long time already.
I have read oral thrush is a symptom of HIV. Is it possible that oral thrush can be seen so soon and I might have HIV?
Also I did have unprotected sex with a girl I was seeing on before october 17th but I did get my test done on Feburary 2nd and got my results after two weeks saying everything was negative. I am too scared and I have learnt my lesson but whats done is done. I havent been able to sleep or do anything.
