Azithromycin and sun exposure

Common Questions and Answers about Azithromycin and sun exposure

zithromax

Avatar n tn I have read lots of your post concerning biaxin and azithromycin and whether they cure syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia and NGU. I have found that biaxin is chemically different than azithromycin but biologically same at killing bacteria as azithromycin. On some post you say that azithromycin or clarithromycin(biaxin) would cure all the bacterial stds then in others you state that there could be some problems. by H. Hunter Handsfield, M.D.
Avatar n tn morning dr, I had a unprotected oral experience two weeks ago with a gay man, I am a male, since then I have had no symptoms, I did take azithromycin and cefixime a week after exposure to maybe ensure that if I did catch anything it may eradicate the issue I drank beer about 30 hrs after I took the medication 1. I have read that I don't need retesting for hiv, I had tested neg in dec, do you recommend retesting for this exposure 2.
Avatar m tn It is often associated with the female hormones estrogen and progesterone. Sun exposure is also a strong risk factor for melasma. It is particularly common in tropical climates. Creams containing tretinoin, kojic acid, and azelaic acid have been shown to improve the appearance of melasma. Chemical peels or topical steroid creams may sometimes recommended. Melasma often fades over several months. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar m tn This treatment is azithromycin (zpak total of 1500 mg over 5 days). Today, I am 1000 mg into the medication and I had a milky discharge during a bowel movement. I know, largely through this forum, that the real concerns are HSV, gonorrhea and NGU. I am worried about this encounter and therefor I am checking for symptoms constantly. I have a couple questions. 1. Is this milky discharge a sure symptom of gonorrhea or NGU? Could it be something else? I know that transmission is low for oral. 2.
Avatar n tn Hi, Are you talking about a malignant nodule in the lung? The exposure from the sun will place you at risk for cancers of the skin. While there are cancers of the skin that would have a tendency to metastasize the lung (melanoma), these would usually have a preliminary finding in the skin.
Avatar n tn Your exposure was very low risk. With condom protected (oral and vaginal) sex, you are not at risk for urethral (penile) infection which would explain your current mild burning sensation. Furthermore, had you contracted infection, it is most likely that you would have acquired either gonorrhea, chlamydia or NGU and the amount of azithromycin you took should be curative for each of these. Thus, to summarize your situation: 1. This was a no risk exposure. It was condom protected.
149675 tn?1416673133 I was on tx. during the katrina nightmare, heat and sun exposure gave me the worst rash and caused a tremendous amount of itching. Stay out of the sun and heat while on tx.
Avatar f tn Monday of this week, I noticed what looked like an ingrown hair on my scrotum. I FREAKED OUT!! Syphilis came to mind. I overreacted and took a 1000 mg pill of Azithromycin in the morning and one that night. Still freaking out on Tuesday, I googled more and saw where recommened dose was 2 grams in a single dose. I took 2, 1000 mg pills immediately. The chancre seems to be fading, but Im still freaking out. Will the amount of Azitromycin ive taken cure or stop any progression of any STDs?
Avatar m tn If you have an unprotected sex exposure and 3 days after a doctor gives you a zpac (1500mg of zithromax at one time) for possible Chy and GH exposure would that take care of both of those STD's? If you then had a test 3 days after that (6 days from exposure) and everything came back negative, would that be reliable OR would the antibiotics you took possibly have tainted the results?
Avatar n tn s persistance I had the misfortune of having it misdiagnosed by an underqualified general practitioner to be a simple sore throat and was put on Azithromycin. I was irregular with the dosage of Azithromycin. The irritation subsided for a while, only to resurface with a severely painful earache in my left ear 3 days ago. This time I got checked out by a well qualified ENT specialist who diagnosed it to be PHARYNGITIS which had progressed to the ear.
Avatar m tn I am very active outdoors and would hate to have to stay out of the sun. I use sun screens and still I get this condition.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with NGU about 5 weeks ago after unprotected sex with A. tested negative for gonn and chlamydia, given azithromycin 1g and a shot of ceftraxione. i had bad testicle pain at this point, in addition to some cloudy discharge, painful urination, etc... the symptoms subsided after a few days, and a week later i resumed unprotected sex with B, my wife, the recommendation of my doc. a few days later, my symptoms came back.
Avatar f tn actually sun is very beneficial to both you and baby, you need around 20 min of exposure to the sun everyday on your arms and legs, a little more if your dark skinned, your body gets its vitamin D from being exposed to the sun, otherwise you risk having vit D deficiency which isnt good, and you end up by having to take suppliments, just be sure that you dont go out in the hottest part of the day and if you do put on sunscreen :)
Avatar n tn s (including HSV 1 and 2) when we first got together, and all results were negative; since then, I have not been with another woman. However, after getting into an argument with my girlfriend, I decided to go out drinking with some friends. I met another girl in a bar, and made the very poor, drunken decision to take her home. We both performed unprotected oral sex on each other, as well as unprotected vaginal sex (this was in the very early morning hours).

Avatar m tn It is possible that you have/had sun poisioning. Any antibiotics will add to the harsh exposure of the sun. That is why they tell you to try to avoid the sun if you can or use a high level of sunscreen if you are out in the sun. If you are not feeling better soon, you should see your doctor. Please be careful while in the sun while on these medications. It can cause some major symptoms not to mention the higher risk of sun burn. Hope you feel better soon.
Avatar m tn I woke up with a bleeding tongue, next day had a swollen parotid gland, next day a very red and irritated throat. I went to a dr and started a zpack and cefuroxime and later that day had a throat swab for strep, chlamydia and gonorrhea. I had already had 500mg of cefuroxime and 500mg of Azithromycin before the throat swab. They turned out negative after several days. The next morning a NAA urine test for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. Also negative.
Avatar m tn I was asymptomatic, but I was treated anyway with azithromycin. Since exposure I have developed 3 new flare ups of oral herpes ulcers on first my lower lip then upper lip in more dramatic than usual fashion. Now over 6 weeks after exposure I have developed urethritis (tenderness) and dysuria. No genital lesions, but still trying to heal the lingering oral ulcer. No fevers or other symptoms. HIV negative 6 months ago (work related testing) but never been tested for other STD's.
