Avatar n tn There seems to be a connection with Crohn's pain and oral contraceptives, so the same might hold true with estrogen replacement. http://www.crohns.org.uk/Docs/5/The%20oral%20contraceptive%20pill%20and%20Inflammatory%20Bowel%20Disease.
Avatar m tn The decision about whether to use oral contraceptives is very complicated, and needs to be researched thoroughly and considered in the context of each woman's health history and risk factors for various types of cancer. The research on whether oral contraeptives raise the risk for breast cancer is inconclusive. Older studies, based on the early birth control pills that contained much higher levels of hormones than today's low-dose pills suggested there was an increased risk. esp.
Avatar n tn When a woman is taking oral contraceptives and has to also take antibiotics (such as Cipro) that could decrease the effectiveness of the oral contraceptives, it is recommended that she use a back up method of contraception (i.e. a condom) during the entire time she is on the antibiotics and for 7 days after she stops taking the antibiotics. For more information, you may want to consult with a health care provider or a pharmacist." I would still advise you to check with your doctor.
Avatar n tn Before I do however, I would like to counsel you that your decision to take cefixime and azithromycin and then ask questions is backwards. These antibiotics would be effective against nearly all bacterial STIs including gonorrhea, chlamydia, NGU, and for syphilis prevention however they will also just confuse further assessment. Your exposure was low risk at most. I will answer your questions in order. 1. It is not clear from your post whether you gave or received oral sex.
Avatar f tn I think that there are alot of options open to you besides birth contol pills or taking oral meds....like Brooke said almost all pills have such a risk of clots manifesting themselves especially if you have a family history of blood clots the % goes up for incidence. You may want to look at all other options out there for you besides taking "the pill" and i know there are many of them out there.
Avatar f tn Breakthrough bleeding(bleeding while taking the active pills of combined oral contraceptives, or other hormonal contraceptives),spotting and changes in menstrual flow are common side effects after starting the oral contraceptives and they are frequent while taking the triphasic contraceptive(orthotricyclen). Breakthrough bleeding is most common when a woman first begins taking oral contraceptives, or changes from one particular oral contraceptive to another.
Avatar m tn i have an irregular cycle of menstration. i have taken oral contraceptives for the first time last week, 2 days after i had an intercourse using withdrawal method. but it only lasted in only aminute i think then we immidiateley removed it. then i took oral contraceptives 2 days after. 4 pills in the morning and 4 more pils afte 10 hours. i read in some articles that 1 week after taken the oral contracepives, you are going to have a withdrawal bleeding.
Avatar f tn acetaminophen for the pain is OK. hemangiomas are not caused by oral contraceptives nor are cysts. adenomas and FNH lesions in the liver are. If pain is due to the cyst or hemangioma then surgery is sometimes done. You should not have to wait months to see someone. What type of specialist are you to see/ Where do you live?
Avatar f tn I am 43 years old, I used oral contraceptives for more than 7 years. Now, I have this yellowish fluid discharges in my left breast nipple for about 4 years now. Does this fluid discharges have something to do with my prolonged used of oral contraceptives? Does this has something to do with "breast cancer"? I am so worried about it, please help me enlightened. What the best thing to do? Thank you and God Bless.
Avatar f tn If you have higher degree of damage, I would recommend avoiding all oral contraceptives. You are correct, they are hard on the liver and sometimes cause liver damage and elevated LFTs even in healthy women. Recommendation not to take them if you have liver disease is a very sensible one. Try other methods of birth control that don't involve hormones. They do work and work well when used correctly. Congratulations on completing your treatment and feeling so well.
Avatar f tn m kinda worried cuz I later got to find out that antibiotics affect the rate of effectiveness of oral contraceptives. Though after using the oral contraceptive I haven't used the antibiotic now for bout 24hours. Can I continue with the antibiotics? Would the postinor have worked? I need to be sure of whether I might need to take further actions and what actions please if that's the case.
Avatar f tn However she warned me that continuous use of oral contraceptives without break is not at all safe and she advised me to stop them immediately. She also advised me to go for loop insertion and asked me to visit her again when the period comes. I stopped using Mala-D from the same day. During the intervening period from 1st July '09 to 1st August '09 I did not get periods but observed scanty bleeding at very frequent intervals which stopped within half or 1 day. Finally, since two days i.
Avatar n tn 14 days ago I took a stripper home. We kissed and I preformed oral on her. Using a condom on me the entire time, she performed oral and intercourse. After 45-60 min without ejaculating, she straddled my thighs pulled off the condom and gave me a handjob to completion. There was no oral or vaginal contact that I am aware of though her vagina was very close to my penis during this act.
Avatar f tn After taking Azithromycin and getting a shot in my butt and waiting 7-8 days is it safe for me to receive oral sex from a female even if my symptoms cleared up the next day I took them and after being treated and given a shot and if I got treated within 5 days in noticing something is my chance of getting rid of a STD higher since I reacted on it faster and after waiting 7-8 days after taking azithromycin and getting a shot can not use a condom and still be safe even when the symptoms cleared up
Avatar n tn I have read lots of your post concerning biaxin and azithromycin and whether they cure syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia and NGU. I have found that biaxin is chemically different than azithromycin but biologically same at killing bacteria as azithromycin. On some post you say that azithromycin or clarithromycin(biaxin) would cure all the bacterial stds then in others you state that there could be some problems. by H. Hunter Handsfield, M.D.
Avatar m tn This treatment is azithromycin (zpak total of 1500 mg over 5 days). Today, I am 1000 mg into the medication and I had a milky discharge during a bowel movement. I know, largely through this forum, that the real concerns are HSV, gonorrhea and NGU. I am worried about this encounter and therefor I am checking for symptoms constantly. I have a couple questions. 1. Is this milky discharge a sure symptom of gonorrhea or NGU? Could it be something else? I know that transmission is low for oral. 2.
Avatar n tn My bet is that your penile pain had nothing to do with the oral sex event. Pain without discharge is not a common STD symptom in men; even when discharge and pain are present, the pain comonent typically is trivial, only a little minor discomfort on urination. To your specific questions: 1) What STDs from oral sex? Chlamydia zero, HIV almost zero, syphilis extremely rare, HPV zero to low.
525976 tn?1212467993 Oral contraceptives can most definitely cause or exacerbate anxiety. Whether that is what is going on with you...it's hard to tell. Discuss it with your doc...maybe he will decide to try a different BC pill. Have you ever taken any oral contraceptives before? I was going to say...if you had...and they worked for you with little problems....it may not be a bad idea to ask your doc about going back there again. Good luck.
Avatar f tn If you have the time I would be grateful if you let me know if you have been on oral contraceptives or Mirena coil, when you first started with them and are you still on them. Being newly diagnosed I am very frustrated with the idea that the disease is so far incurable. Many thanks for all your input.
Avatar f tn Thank you. Do you think the azithromycin will be an effective cure? Especially if I had no symptoms? After going to the clinic, I did more research and saw that azithromycin is usually provided in conjunction with another oral antibiotic if I can't get the injection...
Avatar m tn t have gonorea because she saw no drip from my penis. I insisted something was not right and told her about my symptoms and incident. I have been in a monogamous relationship for 12 years. She gave me a one dose of azithromycin. The next day during a bowel movement it discharge was thick and lumpy. I am waiting for my gonnorea chlamydia and syphlis test results. Q1. Can NGU show up that quickly Q2. She saw little to no WBC in urine Based on paper test. Does that catch ngu and gohnoria?
Avatar m tn So I had unprotected oral sex 5 days ago, I was very drunk and the oral sex was very vigorous, I did not ejaculate either. Straight after the next day my penis was feeling sore and tingling I panicked and bought 1500mg of azithromycin to hope it would cure. The tingling feeling feels just behind my penis head and does not burn when I pee. It has now been 4days since taking the azithromycin and the feeling is still there but comes and goes, normally worse the more I think about it.
Avatar f tn Micronor (noretindrone) is a Progestin-only birth control medication. One of the primary side-effects of progestin-only oral contraceptives is irregular menstrual bleeding. This can be spotting or breakthrough bleeding, shortened cycles, or amenorrhea. Amenorrhea is the absence of menstruation (one or more missed periods). This is a normal occurrence for some women taking birth control pills.
Avatar m tn I engaged in unprotected oral sex with a other gay man, 3 nights ago. I performed - very briefly for about 1 min and then stopped, before any ejaculation. He claimed that he was "clean" and seemed quite honest. I live in South Africa. It was dark and did not notice any lesions on his penis, but am extremely worried of having contracted some STDs. I took 2 g of Azithromycin this morning.
Avatar f tn Monday of this week, I noticed what looked like an ingrown hair on my scrotum. I FREAKED OUT!! Syphilis came to mind. I overreacted and took a 1000 mg pill of Azithromycin in the morning and one that night. Still freaking out on Tuesday, I googled more and saw where recommened dose was 2 grams in a single dose. I took 2, 1000 mg pills immediately. The chancre seems to be fading, but Im still freaking out. Will the amount of Azitromycin ive taken cure or stop any progression of any STDs?
