Could he be lying to me? And is Azithromycin a common medicine for Mono? Should I be worried? Also, if these symptoms dont sound like Mono, what do you think it could be? Thank you in advance for any replies.
i been going thru this forum and looks like mono is what i have because of the recurring fever and rash. i don't have the sore throat or swollen lymph nodes.
do what i desribed above sound like mono? should i talk to my pcp and ask for a mono test? anyone with similar symptoms?

I'm looking for ideas. I got sick with classic head cold symptoms on August 1st. It was a nasty cold with a fever 99-101.5. The cold symptoms faded over time but I have been stuck with the fever, crushing fatigue, dizziness, and shortness of breath. Tests have been completely normal: CBC, CBC with manual differential, complete metabolic panel, mono test, sed rate. I took a course of azithromycin and got worse while taking it. My doctors are clueless.
t have symptoms anymore. I went to urgent care and they seemed mostly concerned about herpes and mono. My blood tests were all coming back negative. They swabbed me for some kind of herpes and also chlamydia (but not gonorrhea?), but the swabs were done wrong and rejected by the lab. They didn't wanna retest me since i didn't have symptoms anymore and said it would be a waste because it would come back negative.
Afetrall Azithromycin is a pretty powerful drug as it is an antibacterial. And then being diagnosed with mono and the doctor wanting to check your heart, all of that would scare anyone, and It scared you. Even you recognize and say that it caused you a lot of stress and worry. Well, stress and worry can and does cause endless physical symptoms and it sounds like that is what you are now dealing with/ have developed.
Resistance rates of 50% have been reported for ureaplasma and doxycycline. M hominis is resistant to erythromycin, azithromycin, and clarithromycin. Levofloxacin, another common drug, also has been shown to have a high failure rate for M genitalium. This is why knowing which infection you have is very valuable in determining the correct treatment.
Also, being in Africa, I'd make sure you had a full battery of tests 3 months from now to look for all other STDs, especially HIV.
During this time I have tried taking numerous, heavy doses of various antibiotics, such as Azithromycin / Clarithromycin, Cipro and Amoxicillin. The Azithromycin seemed to have a strong impact, significantly lessening the symptoms, to the point that I almost felt normal. However, these symptoms quickly returned once my prescription ran out.
Yet the dr we seen today seems to think we need to try azithromycin and see if they come down and if they don't he will send him then? I have cried my eyes out, I don't know what to do, I'm soooo confused! Does this sound like the right thing?
The tests I had were for Gonorrhea (penis), Chlamydia (penis), Syphilis (penis), HIV, HSV, Trich, NGU, Mycoplasma genitalium, LGV, Molluscum, and Mono. I was also given antibiotics (azithromycin and ceftrioxone) to treat possible oral gonorrhea.
However, after 3 weeks I developed a difficulty in swallowing (like a lump in throat) and slight tingling in the head of penis which comes and goes.
Can you please advise, which, if any, STDs could be left that explain these?
(04/25/13) i went to doctor to find out what was wrong so i had bloodwork done and i was told i had mono and i was giving meds. after a month or two all my nodes went completely down to normal and no more symptoms.......(05/15/13) then i had oral sex from the same girl but this time used condom for oral sex but we did make-out "kiss" and i dont think she was treated for mono....
They gave me a antibiotic shot for Penicillen and prescribed me one Z pack (azithromycin).I went back and got results for my culture and everything was normal..That day I went and got tested for Herpes on the 2nd of December (blood test) and tested negative. I went back to the hospital that Friday because there was no improvement with my throat and my tonsils still had white spots on them after taking the five pills of azithromycin.
So I recently tested positive for Gonorrhea and was treated with Azithromycin (1gram), and Rochephin (dose I couldnt see). The morning after I woke up to severe flu-like symptoms and a fever of 103. Other symptoms were severe headache, malaise, GI pain but most importantly lower back pain on both sides near my kidneys. This pain was so severe I was unable to sleep on my back.

A urine culture is useful for ruling out a UTI, but be aware that it will not grow most STD types of bacteria, as the culture medium is not appropriate. This includes ureaplasma/mycoplasma as well.
0 grams (4 500 mg pills) taken at one time is just as effective as penicillin for syphilis treatment however, there are some cases of treatment failures with azithromycin for syphilis treatment and many of the treatment failures have come from San Francisco where you apparently live. Thus this is a matter of concern.
While many people will be cured by therapy of early syphilis with azithromycin, the dose you have received is not the recommended dose.
I read online that the combination of Ciprofloxacin and Azithromycin can be dangerous. Is this still the case, if the last Ciprodose was one week before the 2g Azithromycin dose?
I have been to the dr. She tested me for mono/ebv all came back negative and cbcs were normal.
If I suspect Mono, and took a 3 day course of Amoxicillin (10 pills) and developed no rash, can I pretty much rule out mono?
Some sources state 80-90% of those taking Amoxicillin with Mono develop the rash, while I've even seen 99% as a percentage.
I actually want it to be Mono, instead of something worse, but I'm starting to fear the worst.
Have any of you had Mono, been misdiagnosed with Strep and took Amoxicillin, and NOT get the rash?
I have read lots of your post concerning biaxin and azithromycin and whether they cure syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia and NGU. I have found that biaxin is chemically different than azithromycin but biologically same at killing bacteria as azithromycin. On some post you say that azithromycin or clarithromycin(biaxin) would cure all the bacterial stds then in others you state that there could be some problems.

Your major risk from receipt of oral sex is for gonorrhea or nongonococal urethritis and between the cipro and the azithromycin, even in the unlikely event that you acquired such an infection, the antibiotics you took would have most likely eradicated any infection that might be present.
Hi, I got a test done and it came back positive for chlamydia. I took 1g of azithromycin on Monday night. I went to a lunch today and I started drinking a beer because it had totally slipped my mind that I took the medication on Monday. I finished the one beer, but drank only water the rest of the time. Will that one beer affect my being cured or affect the medication? Thanks.
Last I had quinsy i believe I was given erythromycin and azithromycin for 2 weeks and it worked well. What can this be?
