Azithromycin and headache

Common Questions and Answers about Azithromycin and headache

zithromax

If someone here who has used azithromycin to battle Lyme and Bart could help comfort me in my decision to continue with the azithromycin therapy that would be great. Below are my concerns: I am still confused as to whether or not I am experiencing adverse drug effects or a 'herx.' It is difficult to know because this disease has literally affected every tissue in my body. However, there are a couple things that make me suspicious of a drug allergy/adverse effect. 1.
Our son had what seem like a normal virus with fever, vomiting and headache. All symptoms went away except the headache, which has persisted for a month to the point of excruciating pain 3-4 times a day. He had MRI, CT, lumbar puncture, blood work, etc. All came back normal except positive test for mycoplasma. The first hospital did his lumbar puncture incorrectly causing severe vomiting and spinal headache. That plus all the pain meds (toradol, morphine, atovan, etc.
Hi, How is your son? Azithromycin or Zpak oral is indicated for bacterial infection. It would be best to have him see a doctor first before taking any antibiotics. It is possible that the symptoms are viral or allergies in nature, which do not need antibiotic management. Take care and do keep us posted.
The headache could indeed be due to primary headaches such as migraine which present with throbbing headache. This can be managed with ice pack, rest, and medical management. If there was a sinus problem a few weeks back, this could have persisted and may cause pain. If it persists, it is best that you have this checked by your doctor or be referred to an ENT doctor. Take care and do keep us posted.
Not a day goes by that I don't have a headache and nausea, with some days being terrible. Three days ago I woke up in a cold sweat from head to toe, and it seemed like I was almost deaf in both of my ears. My balance was very bad, and I was very anxious, which never happens with me. I am in law enforcement and work nights. I don't know what else to say. All the symptoms I have had would make this a very long post, so I'm just writing the facts about what's going on right now.
Along with this discomfort came a mild fever, a bad headache, painful and sensitive eyes, and a minor toothache. I have no clue what is going on and am really looking for some answers. I have been administered antibiotics two days ago and nothing has changed thus far. I was put on Azithromycin Tablets and they only last for 5 days. Do you think this will work?
He said that I probably had flu and prescribed me a five-day course antibiotic called Azithromycin. I had two doses already and I’m much better now. But I'm still expectorating a lot of phlegm and have some headache. I hope this is just a coincidence. ARS symptoms appear in two or three weeks after the exposure, correct? My second question is “Can PEP could delay the ARS symptoms?
I' ve been taking azithromycin for 3 days now and want to know how long before some of these symptoms sub-side. I know some are normal, but is the head ache and back pain normal. Once I had walking pnemonia and it came on slow with a cough not like this. Oh I fill so ucky.
I can see from your question that you have research the possible causes of your discomfort and therefore I will go directly to your questions. 1. Treatment response to azithromycin is, indeed, less than 90% and thus, if MG were present there is a chance that you would not have responded to care. However, if MG were present and causing your symptoms it would be most unusual for there not to be SOME sign of inflammation in your multiple urine tests.
I've been under abx treatment for neuro-Lyme and babesiosis for 16 months and getting much much better, most recently on Flagyl and azithromycin. A couple of weeks ago, I began to get a soreness on my stomach just under my ribs, and then the whole area across my waist began to ache and feel bloated. After about 10 days, I was having sharp pains at either side of my waist, was feeling groggy and unwell, and my back was aching in the kidney area. No appetite; dull-witted.
We went to the hospital (which was a hell of a process- he doesn't have health care) and they diagnosed him with a simple middle earache, we went home, took the anti-biotic azithromycin (not sure on spelling) and waited it out. After the package was empty, we followed up with the hospital- informing them that nothing was better. In fact- things were getting worse. We figured out he was JAUNDICED. So we cut his intake of tylenol to absolutely nothing.
I just can't believe this sore throat doesn't go away, i'm dizzy and have a headache that won't subside with tylenol which used to be guaranteed for me. I'm thinking that stress is leading to this....or possibly another std. However, Im 40 and have never had these feelings for such a prolonged time.
I complained of tingling in the tip of my urethra one year ago, i went to the dr got tested for the usual stds and all were negative and i was referred to the urologist and he stuck is finger up my but and said i had high PSA for prostitis, given cipro and most but not all symptoms went away.
I went to my primary care physician about a week and a half ago because of headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, and eye-twitching. I had never had such a combo of symptoms, so I assumed the worst, of course, something neurological maybe (especially because my mother passed away from brain cancer two years ago).
===================================== -- azithromycin and atovaquone (4 months) -- clarithromycin and cefdinir (5 months -- terminated due to edema) -- azithromycin and metronidazole [Flagyl] (4 months) -----two month drug holiday due to bad reaction to yeast-based probiotic----- ===================================== ... and there my chart stops, because I got bored filling it in, I guess. I took more abx, just didn't fill in the summary chart, but you get the drift. That was 7 years ago!
hi, i am a 16 yr old female and i swim for half the year and play water polo for half the year so im it relativly good shape...my asthma usually flairs up around once every two weeks during practice but its usually only bad once a year. i take albuturol (i cant sp it) and it usually goes away... well lately i have been waking up with a mild cough and almost like an itchy feeling inside my chest (it feels like its on my lungs) about once a month.

i have been having this pain in my neck so bad and headache, nad thrush in my mouth for 6 months,i dont know if i have one of the above, but i was tested negative for HIV at 5 months so i guess that id good but i,m going to ask my doctor for Azithromycin 2gram as i hear syphilis can cause server stiff neck and headache, and i was never tested for the other 2..will it cure all 3 things?..
I dont really have a runny nose but there was sort of a headache and pretty thin mucous coming out from the nose from tuesday onwards. No swollen lymph nodes, No large rashes. Headache is more of a eye ache on one side. Things that made me feel a little better which I would like to bring into the picture which can help you advice me better are. 1.
I had a bout of nsu or ngu in the states with an ex-girlfriend.When we finished I still felt a bit strange and went back to the clinic and was checked and given the all clear. But because of me still feeling symptoms they gave me doxycycline just in case.A few months later I still felt strange and went back they said I was all clear again.I started to think this is now all in my head but whatever safe sex all the way from know.

I have been on several different steroid type meds and antibiotics, and recently finished prescriptions of Azithromycin 250 mg, and Prednisone 20 mg. My cough produces phlem (clear), and as a result of the constant coughing, I am always hoarse. I do not cough at night when I am asleep. However the coughing is worsening now and is making me throw up, and I often get a headache.
Thursday- Within 12 to 20 hours, nearly all symptoms disappear, including body ache and fever. In the next few days the runny nose and and sore throat taper off. Inspection of the wound looks to be two raised ulcerative lesions that are slightly tender. Friday- That night, I used the bathroom only to feel the most scathing, earth-shattering pain ever. I inspected the wounds again and saw raised white, spongy looking bumps where the lesions had been.
Went to a doctor but never told this since I am going to work abroad in three days time,he had check up for urine(3-6pus,2-3rbc,others normal),blood(all normal),hematology(triglyceride and HDL high, others normal),hepa-b(I have anti, and said I am free from hepa-b for whole of my life).Doc gave clindamycin. Prior to my flight, I took Azithromycin 500mg 1x and doxy for 4 days til' I arrive abroad. When I arrived,I had fever and body pain but no discharge.Frequent Urination only and chill.
I have had two urine tests now that look for (i think) extra white blood cells that might be a sign of an infection, but both can come up saying that I am fine. I also have a terrible headache (I never get headaches), sore ears, and sore eyes. This may or may not be related. The date of intercourse was about 3 weeks ago, and I initially thought I had some STD, so I took a dose of doxycycline. That didn't work and then I took a dose of azithromycin.
major headache and was then given Steroid (6) day dose. This helped and I too dreaded the 7th day, which I began to feel worse again. So, I call ENT and they told me to have the surgery. I have been too scared of surgery so ENT gave me Alavert D12, and Flonase to take this has made me more dizzy. I am at my wits end, thinking I have some serious illness? I would like to know your status now and if you have had any resolvement?
I have been taking Ventolin Inhaler, Azithromycin, and Guaifenesin/dextromethorphan for the last couple of days with no side effects. After I stopped taking Azithromycin, Ventolin, and Guaifenesin, I felt felt dizzy two days later. I've been dizzy for the past two days with a very slight headache and tension on the back of my neck every time I cough. Is this normal or should I see my Physician again? The dizziness feels like my head weighs a lot heavier than normal.
Pretty tired and had headache. Notice swelling inside urethra and continuation of burning. Day 6: Fever of 100, took Advil. Day 7: Went to STD clinic. Fever in the 99.5 range...given azithromycin (1gram) for gon/chlamidya PEP. The Doc said he didn’t think it was Herpes since my symptoms showed on the urethra and he didn’t see the typical blisters. Day 8: Penis is sticky, I thought maybe from the azithromycin. Got a swab and a PCR done for HSV, both come back negative.
The Nitroglycerin gives you a bit of a headache, but it is better than the alternative. I also take Colace daily and stay on a high fiber diet and drink a LOT of water. I hope this helps a little - I didn't realize so many others are suffering from similar issues. Best of luck to all of you.
It began with complete ear fullness. Went to internist, and he gave me Rhinocort and said to take Sudafed. It then appeared to go away for 2 weeks. Then it returned, but not to the severity as the first time. I proceeded to an ENT who peformed the test analyzing the pressure in the inner ear canals. Came back negative. I have continued to use the Rhinocort along with Sudafed and Claritin D. I then began to experience slight jaw pain in the area below the ear. Hurts when I chew.
