I was diagnosed with NGU about 5 weeks ago after unprotected sex with A. tested negative for gonn and chlamydia, given azithromycin 1g and a shot of ceftraxione. i had bad testicle pain at this point, in addition to some cloudy discharge, painful urination, etc...
the symptoms subsided after a few days, and a week later i resumed unprotected sex with B, my wife, the recommendation of my doc.
a few days later, my symptoms came back.

Before the test results came in, I was treated proactively with azithromycin and ceftriaxone anyway. I don't believe I had pronounced swelling but did see redness and the testicles seemed hot. The clinician did diagnose epididymitis but I think it was largely based on my description of symptoms.
A cephalosporin (such as ceftriaxone) combined with doxycycline is an alternative. Azithromycin can be used for susceptible strains. In children, quinolones and doxycycline are best avoided. Since bacteria that cause urinary tract infections are often the cause of epididymitis in children, co-trimoxazole or suited penicillins (for example, cephalexin) can be used. I had sex ten days after medication and about a week after i noticed the same symptoms. I was tested again and given 1g azithromycin and cipro 500mg 2 pills per day for ten days. Tests came back negative again. Its now 3 months later and i still have epididymitis and swollen urethra ive never had any discharge throughout. Is it possible i may have had an std and the meds cleared it but epididymitis persisted?
I went to the emergency after some days and they said it was epididymitis and put me on antibiotics. Now it is almost end of 2013 and I am still stuck with this problem. What to do? Please help.
I experienced clear discharge two days after and took 1500 mg of azithromycin. Everything has cleared up except for my testicles feel heavy and sensitive. I suspect it is epididymitis. What could be the cause of this? I have no other symptoms.

A few days later I noticed nothing was improving so I went back and got prescribed Cefixime and doxycycline 100mg for 7 days in hopes of improvement as it worked for me the last time in hopes that the testicles/possible Epididymitis would improve.

but i am still feeling testicular pain
and as i stated i had gotten the medication for apo-ciproflox and azithromycin on wednesdat at 5pm, so i would like to know when the effect of testicular pain will stop so i can stop worrying and being concerned and move on

Two days later still had soft erection and started to feel pain in my left testicle, i still ignored it thought it would go away, it didnt so jan5th i went to the doctor he said i had epididymo orchitis and gave me ten days of ciprofloxacin 500 and diclo and scrotal support, i took cipro for 15days thought i should do a 2 week course instead of 10 days. Plus i had an ceftriaxone 1g iv and 500 azithromycin just in case which the doctor didnt prescribe.
Hi, about three weeks ago, I saw a GP with pain in my groin region that felt like epididymitis, which I had had one year prior. I had had prolonged pain after urinating, and a persistent need to urinate, which transformed into pain in my testicles and in the surrounding area. I was prescribed azithromycin. This did not help, so a week later I was tested for chlamydiae, gonorrhea, and a UTI, and prescribed doxycycline, twice daily. The doxycycline also did not help.
I was fed up and in intense pain, so I went back to my doctors and insisted that I had Epididymitis as I had almost every single symptom of it. She treated me with 1 cefixime pill and one other pill that I cannot remember while also taking doxycycline 100mg for 10 days twice daily (June 2016 at this point). Once all 10 days of the antibiotics were done I felt better and had no testicle irritation or discomfort for the next 8 months.
Epididymitis due to chlamydia or gonorrhea (the only STD causes of epididymitis) was pretty much impossible at this point, since you had already received doxycycline -- which would have cured chlamydia for sure and usually gonorrhea as well.
4th visit: Continuing symptoms despite azithromycin (Z-pak) was further evidence that an STD was not the problem.
5th visit: Continuing pain despite yet another course of azithromycin: Still stronger evidence against STD.
How were you treated for it? Have you only taken the azithromycin and doxy? Was it one week of doxy? That was a few months prior to the epididmytis diagnosis, correct? Can you be clearer on that timeline? Are we talking 2 months? 8 months? Longer? Epididmytis has many causes - yours may not have been caused by the chlamydia.

ve never had one before so I started freaking out and got tested, negative for chlamydia and gonorrhea. So my doctor thought it was some form of Uti so she gave me a Z pack (azithromycin) which covered a 5 day period. Today is the 6th day and I still have symptoms! So I really am worried because I'm not sure what's wrong.. I've taken two different doses of antibiotics so it can't be bacterial.. could it be my prostate?
They gave me 250mg of Azithromycin and a dose of Suprax, which I took the next day. My symptoms started to clear up within a few days. A week later, I found out that all 3 tests had come back negative. While I was a bit surprised, my symptoms were gone, so I figured I was ok.

Been in a relationship for 6 years. Made a huge mistake 4 weeks ago (June 24th) and received very brief unprotected oral. My anxiety was at an all time high immediately after and has stayed that way. Within the next week I started experiencing frequent urination and possibly a small amount of clear discharge. Maybe just a drip noticed before urination. But i constantly felt like i had to pee. No pain when urinating.
Further, the doxycycline AND the azithromycin you have received would have cured infection if it had been present. These medications would have also prevented syphilis if you had been exposed.
My advice is to not worry further about the exposure you mention. You were not infected. You have proof that this is the case. There is no need for further testing of any sort.
I have suspected that it is possible my enlarged veins produce the itch that I experience behind my testicle and that I then in turn make my experience worse as I can’t help but squeeze around trying to find the source as I am continually paranoid of having epididymitis and some sort of std from the encounter and that the back and hip pain is an unrelated result of back strain. I am also curious if it is possible to have inguinal hernia symptoms without a physical protrusion.
Ive been to emerge multiple times, first they diagnosed it as epididymitis, and gave me a one week course of doxycycline and that did not work. I went back again and this time they said it could be prostatitis so they gave me ciprolafaxine for that, and I'm on it now.
At 3 days post exposure I took 1g azithromycin and at 2 weeks post exposure I started doxycycline 100mg two times a day however I am still getting symptoms 3 weeks post exposure (today). My doctor thinks there is nothing wrong with me and performed a digital examination of my prostate but said it was normal, she also felt my stomach and asked me to cough.
