I'm 7 weeks pregnant and contracted a uterus infection and my doctor prescribed me two cycles of 1000mg of azithromycin and I'd love a second opinion!
I was prescribed Azithromycin to syphilis (early stage). I am allergic to penicilin. However, the doctor prescribed 5 doses (one a day) of 500mg (that is, during 5 days). But I have read that for Syphillis the recommendation is 1g dose (instead of 500mg).
1) Is the dose prescribed enough for Syphillis?
2) five days is enough?

Early treatment is key for an STI. You need to address the burning, regardless. I am following a couple of people on here who are having a burning sensation despite being tested negative, no discharge, who have also taken antibiotics at various stages of their ordeal. I took doxycycline also, but she wants me to take azithromycin also. She wants me to take it for a week on and a week off for a month.
In January around the time that I was supposed to get my period i took Azithromycin, I never got my period for January and as February came around and my period never came my boyfriend and I got worried. We know for a fact that he didn't ejaculate but strange things happen. I took 3 pregnancy test and they all came back negative. I was diagnosed with gonorrhea and my doctor prescribed me azithromycin and also recommended that i have an hiv test and vdrl for syphilis. After my diagnosis I bought the medicine and took the initial two doses in one day as my doctor prescribed. The next day I went back to the hospital for both test and came back for the results the next day and they both came back negative. The tests were done 26 to 27 days from my last sexual contact.
Dicloxacillin is a poor choice for any STD. It has no effect against chlamydia or the other bacteria that cause cervicitis in women and NGU in men, and borderline efficacy at best against gonorrhea and syphilis. The alternative to doxycycline is azithromycin 1.0 g orally in a single dose, which is safe and effective in pregnancy. If gonorrhea is a concern, then it's azithromycin plus a cephalosporin antibiotic, such cefixime or cefpodoxime; or a 2.0 g dose of azithromycin.
I read online that the combination of Ciprofloxacin and Azithromycin can be dangerous. Is this still the case, if the last Ciprodose was one week before the 2g Azithromycin dose?
I have read lots of your post concerning biaxin and azithromycin and whether they cure syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia and NGU. I have found that biaxin is chemically different than azithromycin but biologically same at killing bacteria as azithromycin. On some post you say that azithromycin or clarithromycin(biaxin) would cure all the bacterial stds then in others you state that there could be some problems.

t even give me any further tests and gave me 2 grams of Azithromycin... took it yesterday.... now it has been a day since i took it.... is the ulcer suppose to get noticeably smaller soon or what results should i see from the treatment? cuz so far everything looks the same...
I am married man and allowed an unknown white male in his late 20's who also claims to be experimenting to perform unprotected oral sex on me for about 10 min, I ejaculated in his mouth. Within 15 minutes of the encounter I washed my penis with antibacterial soap and noticed a slight skin tear near my frenulum (no blood or pain). I went to a urologist and was given an immediate shot for gonorrhea and 1g (2x 500mg) azithromycin initially, with an additional 500mg to be continued each day for 3 days. Given my activity and symptoms it was pretty obvious what it was. The only thing lacking was a discharge.
After day 3, the painful urination did not subside at all. I found this very strange since last time I got the gonorrhea shot the painful urination stopped the exact same day.
Anyway, 9 days after exposure I took 1000mg of azithromycin to make sure if I had the infection it would go away. I then ordered another 1000mg of azithromycin and took it 16 days after exposure ( just me being paranoid about the first dose not clearing it up )
So my question is, is the dose of azithromycin sufficient enough to clear the chlamidya after a) 9 days and b) 16 days? I havent had sex since, Ive had no symptoms.
Hi, I got a test done and it came back positive for chlamydia. I took 1g of azithromycin on Monday night. I went to a lunch today and I started drinking a beer because it had totally slipped my mind that I took the medication on Monday. I finished the one beer, but drank only water the rest of the time. Will that one beer affect my being cured or affect the medication? Thanks.
Next day, Headache was gone but she got fever (~38 degree C) and severe weakness. She started taking Paracetamol and azithromycin. After 4-5 days, she started having cough also. Fever and weakness was as it is. Oxymeter reading is fluctuating between 94-96. She is taking steam inhalation and drinking hot water also along with multivitamins, Zincovit and Vit-C tablets and home remedies like drinking luke warm lemon water or turmeric milk.
m not sure about azithromycin there are safe antibiotics but not all are safe to take during pregnancy. Do not take anything without asking or seeing your Dr.
I have been taking Azithromycin for 4 days. I have gotten worse. Still have fever and have developed nasal congestion with yellow discharge. ENT gave me Spectracef. I read that Spectracef does not treat mychoplasma. So, is there an antibiotic that would treat both mychoplasma AND sinusitis incase I have one or both?
I was also just taking a 5 day dose pack of azithromycin for a sinus infection. I started having heart palpatations as well. I have tachycardia anyways so I didn't really associate it with the medicine. It really started worrying me when my left arm started feeling weak and tingling. This usually also happens when I have an SVT attack but it goes away quickly. This tingling lasted all day. My heart palpatations were more frequent as well.
