When I developed gynecomastia (which is minor and I ignore) I lowered the dose of AVODART to one twice a week which is 8/month (from 15/month). AVODART has a long half life. Will 8/month still work? I wrote to GLaxo who make Avodart and they said what you said "ask your physician". My physician is very busy and I don't want to waste his time. My next appointment is in June and I will ask at that time if I don't have an answer by then.
Propose that your partner try Avodart. I think it really helps with prostate enlargement. That is what the television commercials say anyhow.
Unfortunately it also can cause a large reduction in semen production.
AND women wanting to become pregnant should NEVER touch the pill as it can cause birth defects if they are exposed at all to it.

I'm 68 years old and have had Cataracts for over 2 years. I've been taking Avodart for over a year. Should I stop taking Avodart and wait awhile before cataract surgery or will the informed Dr be able to work with my eyes? I've never taken Flomax and have heard the warnings from the commercial and read about Flomax. I'm concerned about any complications.
I'm also pretty active. Can I still swim after surgery and what are the chances of the lens shifting or coming loose?

Even getting older an cause it, smoking, taking various medications (not just avodart), gaining weight, etc. Do you find you also have erectile dysfunction? Avodart, unfortunately, is associated with these side effects. It's unclear though how long they will last. What does your doctor say? What prompted starting the med? Your psa looks pretty good.
Most at risk are in long term relationships where one partner is infected so id say your risk is relatively low since you dont have any symptoms to date.

Hi, I just got my exams an endocrinologist sent me, in them I have low testosterone I have 1.2 when the minimum is 2.7 if I am not mistaken, the thing is I guess now I will be patient a hormone replacement therapy for increase my testosterone and let me know what to expect, experiences or something that can help me with this new experience , thanks.
In any case, I would advise you to consult an endocrinologist, because low libido and increased fatigue can be associated not only with low testosterone production, but also with disorders in the thyroid gland. Take tests for thyroid hormones and perform an ultrasound exam.
I think he is very comfortable with a low sex drive and the minimal amout of sex. I am sure the low testosterone level and the working alot of hours doesn't help matters, but I think he was like this the WHOLE time you. He might have put more effort into having the amount of sex that you wanted WHILE you all were dating and even that DIP over time.

If your Testosterone is really low, you may get prescribed something to help get that level raised and the doctor might give you Citranox to take. Eating right and getting some excercise will help and a little bit of Red wine also may help. I am not a Doctor but I know that there is stuff out there to help with Low Testosterone. My boyfriend is a Tc survivor and your question is definitely a valid one as we know all too well what living with low testosterone can entail. Ive mentioned this website to others even though its a testicular cancer site there is a section in the forums on this issue which may be of some help to you. www.tccancer.com. My other suggestion is to find a good endocrinologist there are tests that your PCP probably didn't run that an endo could check for you. Hope things get better soon.
I have multiple symptoms which I am starting to believe might be low testosterone. I have lost most of the hair on my legs, chest, etc., have had extreme difficulty in getting an erection, have been suffering from memory loss which seems to be getting worse (Dr. has checked for dementia/alzheimers and says not to worry), low energy, muscle definition is disappearing. Yes, both testes and penis growth along with all aspects of pubertal growth in boys depends on testosterone also, but it depends on how low is 'low' you are talking about. Though the reference level of testo varies some what from lab to lab, here is a link from Mayo Clinic giving their standard levels up to adult age. If you are within the range limits specified there for your age then, you may need not have to worry, if not better to consult an Endocrinologist.
