Avatar f tn Ciprofloxacin, Avelox, Levaquin, norefloxacin, etc) cause, instead of choosing to diagnose each symptom individually?
Avatar m tn I have tendonitis as a result of taking Avelox. Is this a condition that can be treated like other tendonitis and what is the prognisis?
798555 tn?1292787551 else was going on for a very long time because I have been on a myriad of abx for serious kidney-related issues (stone related) since March and I swear that each course of abx caused my feet/tendon issues (that are somewhat chronic due to healing tibial tendon tears) to hurt a lot more! I'd go off the abx and be so much better. Now that I'm on Doxy specifically for Lyme I have been pain free for about 5 days in my feet .. I am like a new person.
Avatar n tn You can check whether the bleeding will subside on its own, but it is apparent that with the extent of damage implied by your symptoms, you may be required to seek direct medical attention and will definitely need a course of antibiotics. Blood at the beginning of urination indicates that the source of bleeding is in the urethra or at the bladder outlet.
Avatar f tn I took the antibiotic Cipro (which causes tendon pain and ruptures) and now have a bunch of problems with both ankles. I have achilles tendon pain, and I also have pain and swelling on the inside of my ankle and arch of foot. It hurts to move my toes back, and I can't stand on my toes at all (can't even get off the ground). I also have no balance and sway. If I walk one foot in front of the other (like a drunk driving test), I fall.
1994720 tn?1352742233 Also, since the surgery and a sepsis infection that nearly took my life, I get severe nerve, tendon, and joint pain after eating primarily proteins and am exhausted all the time. I am sick of always being the mystery diagnosis patient! Also, my iron and ferritin levels have been on the low end, though I take Slow FE and cook with an iron skillet. And, my Alpha 2 and Beta globulins are low now. Any feedback???
Avatar f tn I had VERY weird hallucinations last night. I woke up out of a dead sleep, thinking my cat, who was stuck to my headboard (don't ask me how), was falling on me...I (thought) I tipped it back up, reached for the bedside lamp, which kept moving out of my reach, silly light, I finally got it on, cat was sleeping just fine on pillow, headboard was where it belonged. Everytime I closed my eyes I saw different cartoons and movies. Yes, I'm totally serious.
Avatar n tn On day 15 I developed severe total body aching. I took all 20 days, eventually recovered from the pneumonia but then suffered tendon pain primarily in my elbows and knees for 2 years. During the time I took the drug, I had a lot of muscle twitching. One year ago I started having random shooting pain that has progressed. Recently I saw my MD and she ordered several blood tests and MRI to look for MS and other peripheral neuropathy causes. All blood tests and the MRI were normal.
Avatar m tn I was tod there was no Flexor or tendon damage. I was put on an antibiotic for 10 days. There was no glass left in the finger and the cut area did not get inflamed. It healed rather quickly. The swelling remained. I called the doctor after a week and was told that perhaps it needed more time for the swelling to go down. She said give it another week to 10 days. Two weeks later, still swollen and difficult to bend. I still had tenderness but not extreme discomfort.
Avatar n tn I had pneumonia after contracting the flu in July. Was treated with Avelox and, when symptoms came back, Azithromycin. I still have a cough, which seems, at times, to improve and then recur. The cough is not severe, though there is a sensation of irritation, of needing to expel something in my chest, left side. I have wheezing upon forceful exhalation. A chest x-ray on 7/19/09 showed "Prominent interstitial markings left midlung anteriorly.
Avatar m tn How do you know it is a ligament versus a tendon or something else by MRI or location? I am asking for a selfish reason as I think that I have had a torn ligament and wanted to know how to diagnose it. I would ice it until the swelling goes down and then switch to heat. Keep it raised as much as you can. Are you running on it? Ligaments do take a long time to heal. I wish I had a better answer.
Avatar m tn I have had a round of Avelox a few weeks ago and recently Omnicef 600mg/day for 10 days and still have discharge. Question, wouldn't these antibiotics be affective against NGU, Chlamydia or Gonnorrhea? Thanks for the help.
1373852 tn?1307843048 I wake up at night wheezy, coughing up white or clear phlem . I also have chest heaviness and itchiness in the chest area. I feel like there is phlem stuck in my throat and my nose feels stuffed. When it is hot out I get these same symptoms.could this be asthmatic bronchitis or something else. I took antibiotics and they didn't help so the doctor gave me avelox(a stronger antibiotic)I am afraid to take it because there are so many dangerous side effects.
Avatar m tn After trying Doxy, Azithromycin, and Flagyl, the only antibiotic that finally worked was Avelox. The question now is what I should treat my partner with. I know from my experience that my NGU was passed sexually, and she needs to get treated before we can have sex again. The problem, is that she said she is allergic to Avelox. Another problem, is that since it is NGU, we cannot test to confirm if the bacteria is cured, and she is also asymptomatic.
Avatar f tn I love to play soccer, and when I play, I get pretty tough. I have really bad ankles, and about 3 days ago, my foot started hurting really bad, then it would go away and come back. I've done some research and I think I've ripped my Achilles Tendon, my sister [in medical field] believes I did, but my parents don't believe me. It hurts from right about my toes, to about 3 inches past my foot. I don't know what to do, I've tried to keep it elevated and stay off it.
Avatar f tn The pain and swelling are horrible and I can not move nor feel my ring finger still. Is this normal for tendon damage being repaired? If I would of known this would be so painful I never would of gone through with surgery.
Avatar f tn Possibilities that may need to be considered are infections, inflammation, neurovascular damage, peri-prosthetic fracture, wearing of the bearings, loosening of the prosthesis, ligamental/ tendon injuries/ inflammation, osteolysis, synovitis etc. It would be best to get this evaluated by your orthopedician to rule out the possibilities and appropriate management. Hope this was useful. Take care!
Avatar m tn Thank you Doctor, I just saw my doctor and she reassured me that it was highly unlikely that I damaged my new tendon because I was in a protective splint that was made to prevent such damage. I'm still nervous about it but feel better now after both of your input.
Avatar n tn She was told in Casualty that there was tissue damage and damage to the tendons but no apparent broken bones. A few days later when some of the swelling subsided she began to walk on it. It ached but every so often she got a sharp piercing pain on the top; and underneath her foot. From the point of impact to her 2nd toe she could feel something like a very thin raised matchstick.
Avatar f tn I have had SEVERE joint pain from taking avelox. After 2 days of taking the antibiotic for a combined sinus and a mrsa staff infection, I had crippling joint & tendon pain in my knees, ankles, Achilles, shins and hips. After calling my dr. and speaking to my pharmacist, i stopped taking the medicine immediately. I made an appointment with the prescribing dr.
Avatar m tn I took a 7 day course of 400mg Avelox about one month ago (April 5th). I have had a good amount of tendon pain mostly in left achilles and in tendons on top and bottom of arch of foot as well as some heel and knee pain. Again, like I said primarily left side. The achilles pain has subsided some, most of the pain and discomfort now is in the foot.
Avatar f tn Yesterday I was chasing after my two-year old, and as I went to run, I heard a distinctive ripping sound and felt a very disconcerting sensation in my right calf. I'm unable to put my heel flat on the floor unless my knee is bent, and of course then I can't straighten my leg. My calf hurts to touch on the meaty, inside/back part, although when I'm sitting, it doesn't hurt at all really (twinges a bit).
Avatar f tn Avelox... I went yesterday and saw a lung specialist, he calmed me down and told me that i only have a little pneumonia in my lower left side it's nothing to be worried about. It's the bronchitis that's causing a lot of pain in my chest and back that I did not have prior to the antibiotics.
994068 tn?1249856026 A full thickness tear of the rotator cuff with retraction of the tendon is not likely to heal on its own.
Avatar n tn I was attacked by a cat 10 weeks ago. I had surgery to reattach the tendon in my finger. I had infection for almost 6 weeks and had to have some tendon removed because the infection was making it fray. I had to have it drained a second time. Now the infection seems to be gone but I am having a terrible issue with swelling and getting the use of my hand back. It has a glistening look to it and the skin is very tight from the swelling. I am in physio but finding it difficult.
Avatar m tn There is a cosmetic surgery available. It involves cutting some of the tendon in the groin area. The results are not 100% and there are some possible side effects. Including nerve damage, disfigurement, vascular damage. Is an extra inch really worth it?
