Then a couple weeks later, another round of Doxy, then Metrondinazole and azythromicin. I was then in port, got a digital rectal exam, (very painful) and was prescribed Avelox. I took it for 35 days, and things were well, more or less. Back in port, went to resupply on avelox, they didnt have it, doc put me on cipro/trinidazole combo. Now a week later and the pain is back in my urethra.
Could this be episodes of Herpetic urethritis?
Had unprotected oral (only) sex exposure (giving and recvg) 2 months ago. Took 8 days of 400mg Avelox for sinus infection post exposure. Saw Urologist appx 11 days after event with urgency / frequency to urinate, fullness in abdomen, penile discomfort consistent with having to urinate badly. No dischearge and no burning when urinating. Urine sample was clear, rectal prostate exam with secretions showed bacteria in prostate. Diagnosed with prostatitis. I am not sure what (clear) meant?
From that point she got better with exception of 2 yeast infections which she insists are normal and she does have frequently... and I did not...which leads me to the prostatitis again. But the timing of the prostatitis really has be snagged. On a side note...I have never had burning during urination except for after the urethral swab...ouch.
still had symptoms after this so more doxy, metrodinazole was given. no true relief. I then went on avelox which seemed to help but my persciption ran out as I am at sea. Since i was in a foreign country, the only thing available was ciprofloxacin/trinidizole combo pills.
There seems to be only 1 antibiotic that works once it becomes prostatitis and that is Avelox also known as Moxifloxacin. Now if you happen to have them, even more, rarer form than you require Pristinamycin and it is not available in the united states but it is able to be received via the right channels from India if you know where to look.
There is a cure but it is not caught immediately and it becomes prostatitis it is VERY difficult to treat where as currently Avelox is the only fluoroquinolone mine was weak too. I had previously years ago been on Bactrim d/s for 6 months and it didn't phase it. I also got IV Vancamycin along with something else that I can't remember its name... The doxycycline everything and mind you over 16 years all the other random antibiotics I might have taken for one thing or another.

Your symptoms are nonspecific -- i.e. they don't point strongly to any particular problem. The only STD related condition that could cause testicular pain and swelling is epididymitis (testicular infection), and the only STDs known to cause it are chlamydia and gonorrhea. With those tests being negative, sexually acquried epididymitis has been definitively ruled out. Further, real epididymitis is a much more dramatic, inflamed condition than you have described.

I have had a round of Avelox a few weeks ago and recently Omnicef 600mg/day for 10 days and still have discharge. Question,
wouldn't these antibiotics be affective against NGU, Chlamydia or Gonnorrhea? Thanks for the help.
He felt it was prostate even though he said exam was normal. Prescribed metronidazole and 7 days of Avelox because of the urethral discomfort. Episode resolved in 6 or 7 days. In the interim I found out previous partner had tested HSV2 positive. I tested positive for hsv1, and negative for hsv2 at this time (8 weeks). I retested hsv2 negative again (Herpeselect) at 20 weeks.
Another 2 months with no symptoms. Then 2 weeks ago it started again.
After trying Doxy, Azithromycin, and Flagyl, the only antibiotic that finally worked was Avelox. The question now is what I should treat my partner with. I know from my experience that my NGU was passed sexually, and she needs to get treated before we can have sex again. The problem, is that she said she is allergic to Avelox. Another problem, is that since it is NGU, we cannot test to confirm if the bacteria is cured, and she is also asymptomatic.
I have tendonitis as a result of taking Avelox. Is this a condition that can be treated like other tendonitis and what is the prognisis?

Fourth and perhaps most important, you should be evaluated for prostatitis, i.e. inflammation of the prostate gland. Although not an STD in the usual sense, such prostate problems can follow urethral infection. Some prostatitis is caused by UTI bacteria, especially with low counts of bacteria as noted above. Others are classified as "nonspecific" or "nonbacterial".
Avelox... I went yesterday and saw a lung specialist, he calmed me down and told me that i only have a little pneumonia in my lower left side it's nothing to be worried about. It's the bronchitis that's causing a lot of pain in my chest and back that I did not have prior to the antibiotics.
I took a 7 day course of 400mg Avelox about one month ago (April 5th). I have had a good amount of tendon pain mostly in left achilles and in tendons on top and bottom of arch of foot as well as some heel and knee pain. Again, like I said primarily left side. The achilles pain has subsided some, most of the pain and discomfort now is in the foot.
I recently developed an upper respitory infection and bronchitis and one of the medications was AVELOX. Within 3 days the severe pain in my shoulders was GONE. How is this possible? Was it a viral infection causing my pains and if so could it be a form of Lyme Disease?
33 year old male. Since November of 2010, have been having what I thought were UTI's. Symptoms: frequency of urination, frequency of urination at night (once per hour sometimes), ache in left testicular area, 2 nights of waking up sweaty, sore lower back/hips, and my semen volume was reduced, and often had what looked like strands of white material inside it. In the morning usually, I would have a few spots of a clear, mucus like discharge in my underwear.

treated with doxycycline by end of june for 1 wk. started on avelox end of july for 1 wk. then given levaquin for a wk. by last wk doc said she didn't think was infection cause levaquin shoudl have killed anything, even though I was still having gobs of green phlegm coming down the back of my throat and out of my lungs. she sent me to the asthma and allergy clinic where i was tested for 27 diff allergies all negative for.

Irrespective, you now have been treated repeatedly with antibiotics without any change in symptoms, making STDs and prostatitis still less likely (prostatitis might not be cured by the therapy you have had but it would have gotten better).
Concerns about Ureaplasma and Mycoplasma genitalium are probably misplaced as well.

After two days of suffering ithcing in my urethra, followed by a frequent urge to urinate, I began to take some left over Avelox (400 mg) that I had on hand. Trust me, I know this was dumb. 36 hours after I began taking the Avelox (one dose on Friday night at 5:30 pm and one on Saturday at 5:00 pm) I had a swab for gonorrhea and chlamydia (1:45 pm on Sunday). The test results just came back negative. Is it possible that the Avelox ruined the test results?

I am wondering at what stage NSU is no longer a risk. I ask because I have recurring NSU for a number of yrs. My GUM clinic has reassured me there is no reason to be concerned at this stage. I attended them numerous occasions. Some times there has >5 WBCs, on other occasions there was no NSU (i.e. <5 WBCs). No Gon or Chl found in any tests. In summary:
1st visit: NSU - Took 1g zithromax - wasn't called back.
