I too had problems with Avelox. I don't even want to type it! lol... some people on another site recommened calcium and magnesium. I happened to be taking Milk Thistle and may have spared my liver from damage since it is an amazing healer of the liver. Spirulina is great for energy also Brewer's Yeast and Bee Pollen(make sure you're not allergic to it before you take it. andrew lessman's vitamins also seem to be great.
treated with doxycycline by end of june for 1 wk. started on avelox end of july for 1 wk. then given levaquin for a wk. by last wk doc said she didn't think was infection cause levaquin shoudl have killed anything, even though I was still having gobs of green phlegm coming down the back of my throat and out of my lungs. she sent me to the asthma and allergy clinic where i was tested for 27 diff allergies all negative for.
I have had a round of Avelox a few weeks ago and recently Omnicef 600mg/day for 10 days and still have discharge. Question,
wouldn't these antibiotics be affective against NGU, Chlamydia or Gonnorrhea? Thanks for the help.
After trying Doxy, Azithromycin, and Flagyl, the only antibiotic that finally worked was Avelox. The question now is what I should treat my partner with. I know from my experience that my NGU was passed sexually, and she needs to get treated before we can have sex again. The problem, is that she said she is allergic to Avelox. Another problem, is that since it is NGU, we cannot test to confirm if the bacteria is cured, and she is also asymptomatic.
I have tendonitis as a result of taking Avelox. Is this a condition that can be treated like other tendonitis and what is the prognisis?
Avelox... I went yesterday and saw a lung specialist, he calmed me down and told me that i only have a little pneumonia in my lower left side it's nothing to be worried about. It's the bronchitis that's causing a lot of pain in my chest and back that I did not have prior to the antibiotics.
I recently developed an upper respitory infection and bronchitis and one of the medications was AVELOX. Within 3 days the severe pain in my shoulders was GONE. How is this possible? Was it a viral infection causing my pains and if so could it be a form of Lyme Disease?
This after seeing 3 ENTs who have said I do not have sinus problems, though I am always dealing with sinus pressure and congestion etc.
Can allergies make me feel so crappy. I can barely breathe right now except for through my mouth. I cleaned the bedroom real good last night and is that what is causing me to feel this bad? I am yellow and green mucus when I blow my nose.
I also have swollen lymph nodes which came up on MRI.
Unavoidably, i could not make it to the clinic until a week after the symptoms started. By that point i was having problems sleeping. I was diagnosed with chlamydia, given azythromicin, and a few days later things were on the upswing. A month later, same type of symptoms. They didnt believe me that i didnt get reinfected, Azythromicin and on my way, out to sea (where i work). I then was given 10 days of doxy.

I had VERY weird hallucinations last night. I woke up out of a dead sleep, thinking my cat, who was stuck to my headboard (don't ask me how), was falling on me...I (thought) I tipped it back up, reached for the bedside lamp, which kept moving out of my reach, silly light, I finally got it on, cat was sleeping just fine on pillow, headboard was where it belonged. Everytime I closed my eyes I saw different cartoons and movies. Yes, I'm totally serious.

After two days of suffering ithcing in my urethra, followed by a frequent urge to urinate, I began to take some left over Avelox (400 mg) that I had on hand. Trust me, I know this was dumb. 36 hours after I began taking the Avelox (one dose on Friday night at 5:30 pm and one on Saturday at 5:00 pm) I had a swab for gonorrhea and chlamydia (1:45 pm on Sunday). The test results just came back negative. Is it possible that the Avelox ruined the test results?
I have had SEVERE joint pain from taking avelox. After 2 days of taking the antibiotic for a combined sinus and a mrsa staff infection, I had crippling joint & tendon pain in my knees, ankles, Achilles, shins and hips. Went to see a couple of doctors and they think it is sinus infection - so went on two anti-biotic treatments (Augmentin 10 days - which did not work, then Avelox 14 days). Just finished the Avelox course, but still having some post nasal drip and sore throat. But generally feeling better. Question: How would you assess the risk of this encounter for STD's and HIV in particular? Does female ejaculate fluid contain the HIV virus? What about other STD's?
Both are finishing Phase III trails (one by Teva and one by Glaxo) and will likely be a great step forward in lessening your overall asthma/fungal problems. You might also want to do some homework on allergic bronchopulmonary mycosis (ABPM). ABPM is part of the total picture tied to your question. Lastly, check into ways of minimizing any potential household fungal issues. The are companies that can come out and do an assessment of your house to see if it is a contributing factor.
Does anyone know if its ok to take antibiotics with riba? I'm not sure if I should take a dose of each together or should I wait and take the antibiotic (Avelox 400mg) separately. I'd rather take them together because each should be taken with food and I don't have much appetite so when I do manage to eat I'd like to get all the drugs down at once. Any input would be helpful.
I had pneumonia after contracting the flu in July. Was treated with Avelox and, when symptoms came back, Azithromycin.
I still have a cough, which seems, at times, to improve and then recur. The cough is not severe, though there is a sensation of irritation, of needing to expel something in my chest, left side. I have wheezing upon forceful exhalation.
A chest x-ray on 7/19/09 showed "Prominent interstitial markings left midlung anteriorly.
