Avelox moxifloxacin

Common Questions and Answers about Avelox moxifloxacin

avelox

Avatar n tn A recent study was done to show that Myco was only erradicated by 85% of those on the Azithro regiment described, however Avelox ( Moxifloxacin) killed Myco in all cases. Routine is to try described Azithro regimen first and if symtoms still exist Moxifloxacin. Why? I guess so that Myco doesn't become Moxifloxacin resistant. Save the bugs, kill the patient kind of thing. I say take the 400mg a day X 10 day regiment of Moxifloxacin and help yourself.
Avatar m tn But the doctor mentioned that my white blood cell count is slightly higher than normal ( WBC count taken from the swabs, not from my blood work) and mentioned that there might be an infection so she prescribed Avelox (Moxifloxacin), 4 x 400mg once daily. The background is, I am Chinese male, been with my girlfriend for about a year and both of us have been loyal and we were both asymptomatic before this event.
Avatar m tn The arthritis came from the Moxifloxacin/Avelox, it's a side effect of it and it even can have stronger ones. I can't walk properly since 3 months because of tendon damages.
Avatar m tn the other drugs no they wont work, there are resistant strains in the population now, avelox is the next drug as a treatment it works very well but dont self medicateuse a good urologist
Avatar m tn There are a couple other antibiotics that can be prescribed if NGU is persistent, Erythromycine or Moxifloxacin. However, I would only use Moxifloxacin as a last resort, as it can have some very harsh and lasting side effects. In addition, if it's fungal related (Trich) they can also treat you with an alternative regimen of metronizadole. Return to your doctor and discuss persistent NGU with him and CDC guidelines for testing and treating: http://www.cdc.
Avatar m tn Welcome to the HIV forum. I'll try to help. Bottom line: You were not at significant risk of HIV from this exposure. Don't worry about it. The notion of female "ejaculation" is somewhat controversial, but my understanding is that most sex experts believe there is no such thing. Most "ejaculations" probably are urine, which is not infectious for HIV.
Avatar n tn Sure, there are lots of antibiotics. If you're allergic to azithromycin, you also probably can't take clarithromycin and erythromycin. And if doxycycline doesn't work, there's probably no used in taking tetracycline. So that does eliminate a lot of them. If the doxycycline isn't working, either your tests are consistently false positives, or you have a resistant strain. It's not typical, but it does happen.
Avatar m tn Subsequent efforts could include moxifloxacin (trade name Avelox), to cover Mycoplasma genitalium, which is a possible cause in this situation. However, you may find that no antibiotics are helpful, if the problem is noninfectious. But the good news is that this sort of problem is not believed to be harmful in the long run, either to you or your sex partner(s). I think those comments answer all three of your questions. Good luck with it.
Avatar m tn MG is only treatable (with eradication results) by Avelox (Moxifloxacin) or Arthiromyacin. It's a "no cell wall" bacterial infection and VERY difficult to catch without a DNA test with it. Most other antibiotics work by attacking the cell walls which is worse than useless against MG.
Avatar m tn Hello doctor, Just wanted to let you know that I sent my sputum for analysis and the culture came back positive for Staphylococcus Aureus. It is resistant to erythromycin so I suppose that's the reason why the azythromycin did nothing. Yesterday my doctor gave me Avelox (moxifloxacin) so hopefully this will help me recover. It's been a month already and I'm still sick.
Avatar m tn In addition, it is now recommended that metronidazole or tinidazole also be given, to cover the possibility of trichomonas, which can be difficult to diagnose, especially in men. For continued persistence or recurrence thereafter, the drug moxifloxacin (Avelox) is sometimes used, to cover the possibility of an infection with Mycoplasma genitalium, which can be resistant to both doxy and azithromycin.

Avatar m tn hey there, badgerMR. to be honest, i took metronidazol just one day after i took my azythromicine (i know, shouldn't self-diagnose), but I took them anyway. and it did not help. I know there's an alternative which is tinidazol but I'm just saying I did take antibiotics against MG myself and it did not help the symptom...
Avatar m tn doxycycline, azithromycin and moxifloxacin. The first two failed to clear my infection and now I have two days that I finished the moxifloxacin 400 mg( 10 days treatment) clearing my symptoms. My question is, Is it possible for the bacteria to reoccur after the moxifloxacin treatment? And if yes what other option are there?
Avatar f tn Cure rates with moxifloxacin are 100% According to some info I’ve found, and is used after Doxy and az. So id press to get moxifloxacin. moxifloxacin 400 mg daily for 7 to 14 days is the preferred antibiotic regimen.
Avatar m tn I have had a round of Avelox a few weeks ago and recently Omnicef 600mg/day for 10 days and still have discharge. Question, wouldn't these antibiotics be affective against NGU, Chlamydia or Gonnorrhea? Thanks for the help.
1373852 tn?1307843048 I wake up at night wheezy, coughing up white or clear phlem . I also have chest heaviness and itchiness in the chest area. I feel like there is phlem stuck in my throat and my nose feels stuffed. When it is hot out I get these same symptoms.could this be asthmatic bronchitis or something else. I took antibiotics and they didn't help so the doctor gave me avelox(a stronger antibiotic)I am afraid to take it because there are so many dangerous side effects.
Avatar m tn After trying Doxy, Azithromycin, and Flagyl, the only antibiotic that finally worked was Avelox. The question now is what I should treat my partner with. I know from my experience that my NGU was passed sexually, and she needs to get treated before we can have sex again. The problem, is that she said she is allergic to Avelox. Another problem, is that since it is NGU, we cannot test to confirm if the bacteria is cured, and she is also asymptomatic.
Avatar m tn I have tendonitis as a result of taking Avelox. Is this a condition that can be treated like other tendonitis and what is the prognisis?
Avatar m tn Hello Doctor. i'm a 23 years old circumcised male exactly 4 months ago i had protected sex but unprotected oral sex with some random girl, i was very careful about the use of condom, she asked me to have genital sex without condom but i refused, which i'm grateful to my self for doing that.
Avatar f tn Ciprofloxacin, Avelox, Levaquin, norefloxacin, etc) cause, instead of choosing to diagnose each symptom individually?
Avatar n tn now only left moxifloxacin hasnt try, seems to be last resort. this bacteria already bothered me for 6 months, really want to get rid of it.
Avatar f tn Avelox... I went yesterday and saw a lung specialist, he calmed me down and told me that i only have a little pneumonia in my lower left side it's nothing to be worried about. It's the bronchitis that's causing a lot of pain in my chest and back that I did not have prior to the antibiotics.
660680 tn?1225215237 A few days after the exposure I statrted taking an antibiotic, Avelox, for a sinus issue. Over the weekend I statrted to itch but with no visible signs of a rash. The question I have is this an early sign of HIV infection? Were my blood tests too close to exposure and therefore worthless? Is the "itch" a possible adverse reaction to the Avelox. I stopped taking the antibiotic today. Just overly concerned and need some reassurance that I have not contracted HIV.
