Avatar n tn Amoxicillin is a penicillin type of antibiotic and Avelox is a quinilone. Different mechanisms of action but both antiobitics used to treat bacterial infections. Quinilones are used less frequently for sure due to some side effect issues and warnings about the class of drugs. Check with your doctor if you have any concerns but they are definately not the same thing. Often antibiotics have little niches that they are used in. good luck and hope you feel better.
Avatar m tn I am not physically restricted - I walk 1 mile or more day and do 10 minutes of other light exercises most days. My BP runs under 120/80 most of the time. Avatar m tn The mechanism of action of CampralĀ® (acamprosate calcium) Delayed-Release Tablets in maintenance of alcohol abstinence is not completely understood. Originally, several neurotransmitter systems, including GABA, were investigated for a possible role in Campral's mechanism of action. However, recent evidence suggests Campral's main interaction is with the glutamate system. Chronic alcohol exposure is hypothesized to alter the normal balance between neuronal excitation and inhibition.

Avatar n tn I am still experiencing symptoms despite 2 days of avelox, a 1gram of Zithro and 1 1/2 days of doxy. Their current diagnosis is epididymitis because of some tenderness in the testicles, primarily the left testicle. They will further advise after the results of the urinalysis. There is however, one additional fact that I forgot and that is that on November 14th (symptoms began on November 25), my GF and I had unprotected sex while she was menstruating. GF just reminded me today.
4939681 tn?1361299299 Thank you for that link. And a sarcastic thank you to the FDA for FINALLY putting that warning out! Since at LEAST 2001 people have had terrible and long-lasting and sometimes horrible side-effects from the use of those drugs. I don't know if people here remember the anthrax scares after 9-11 when several high officials were sent anthrax in envelopes. "Tuesday, September 18, 2001, one week after the September 11 attacks.
Avatar f tn Plavix has a unique mechanism of action by blocking the amplification of platelet activation by released ADP, and often used with aspirin to prevent the risk of clots for the first year after DES implant. Plavix and aspirin have different mechanism of action to prevent clots. After a year, plavix is usually discontinue as the risk for clots is decreased, and aspirin is continued long term. The risk of a clot is about 3%.

Avatar n tn "Mechanism of Action Oxomemazine, a phenothiazine derivative, is a sedating antihistamine" The above information is about all I could find on this drug. If it is used in the US, I have no idea what label it's under. Even if I had been able to find more information, I am not qualified to tell you to either stop or start or change any medications. You need to speak with your doctor or chemist for an answer to your question.
