treated with doxycycline by end of june for 1 wk. started on avelox end of july for 1 wk. then given levaquin for a wk. by last wk doc said she didn't think was infection cause levaquin shoudl have killed anything, even though I was still having gobs of green phlegm coming down the back of my throat and out of my lungs. she sent me to the asthma and allergy clinic where i was tested for 27 diff allergies all negative for.

I have had a round of Avelox a few weeks ago and recently Omnicef 600mg/day for 10 days and still have discharge. Question, wouldn't these antibiotics be affective against NGU, Chlamydia or Gonnorrhea? Thanks for the help.

I wake up at night wheezy,coughing up white or clear phlem . I also have chest heaviness and itchiness in the chest area. I feel like there is phlem stuck in my throat and my nose feels stuffed.When it is hot out I get these same symptoms.could this be asthmatic bronchitis or something else. I took antibiotics and they didn't help so the doctor gave me avelox(a stronger antibiotic)I am afraid to take it because there are so many dangerous side effects.

After trying Doxy, Azithromycin, and Flagyl, the only antibiotic that finally worked was Avelox. The question now is what I should treat my partner with. I know from my experience that my NGU was passed sexually, and she needs to get treated before we can have sex again. The problem, is that she said she is allergic to Avelox. Another problem, is that since it is NGU, we cannot test to confirm if the bacteria is cured, and she is also asymptomatic.

I had my second infusion on Wednesday of last week. During my infusion, I was freezing/chilling. I asked for a blanket and a little later, when I was still so cold, they adjusted the A/C. Nothing was said to me that chills could be a reaction. As soon as I left, I felt nausea, dizziness, off balance, jello legs, I fell against the wall outside of the building on my way out.....and I had this internal tremor/vibration shaking feeling inside.

If you do not have issues, your next infusion should go quicker, as they will start it at a slightly higher rate. Because there were issues, DD, started at 50 mg/hr rate even on the second infusion. Let's see how they do this in May. The nurses laughed when I sat and worked out the drip rates and timings during DD first infusion...I was bored and nervous, and I guess I wanted to see if my Paramedic training on drip rates was still working...

I am a 44 year old male and the only other thing I take is valium 5 mg ...the avelox 400 mg that I have taken two 7 day coursed of recently I can no longer take as it effects my heart rate now...my ent switched to levaqin 500 mg and that also was no good for me...floroquines are not tolerated well anymore by me either now...

Avelox... I went yesterday and saw a lung specialist, he calmed me down and told me that i only have a little pneumonia in my lower left side it's nothing to be worried about. It's the bronchitis that's causing a lot of pain in my chest and back that I did not have prior to the antibiotics.

A few days after the exposure I statrted taking an antibiotic, Avelox, for a sinus issue. Over the weekend I statrted to itch but with no visible signs of a rash. The question I have is this an early sign of HIV infection? Were my blood tests too close to exposure and therefore worthless? Is the "itch" a possible adverse reaction to the Avelox. I recently developed an upper respitory infection and bronchitis and one of the medications was AVELOX. Within 3 days the severe pain in my shoulders was GONE. How is this possible? Was it a viral infection causing my pains and if so could it be a form of Lyme Disease?

I found out from my friend who is a nurse that it is a staph becoming resistant. My skin is itchy more and the inside my nose looks like someone dug it out. I had a reaction to the avelox...couldn't breathe adn my heart rate went up. i had them put me back on the clindamycin...the avelox seem to make me more constipated and stomach pain, it took the swelling i had down though, the clindamycin is giving me bad diareha. The drainage from my nose area is so bad it's awful.

Hello, I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 7 months ago and I have just started with an insulin pump, which is great!! I have always been very active in the gym and my problem now is that I don't know if I can work out my abs with the infusion set connected to my stomach.

Ren- My first infusion took four sticks, and I ended up having the entire infusion through a small butterfly needle. I did feel a little nausea, and the left side of my head hurt above and behind my eye, and sharp kinda pain....but it only lasted a few minutes, and once for a brief period of time, I had heart palpitations. But after I left and ate something, the nausea left, and other than being tired.....I felt fine.

Had unprotected oral (only) sex exposure (giving and recvg) 2 months ago. Took 8 days of 400mg Avelox for sinus infection post exposure. Saw Urologist appx 11 days after event with urgency / frequency to urinate, fullness in abdomen, penile discomfort consistent with having to urinate badly. No dischearge and no burning when urinating. Urine sample was clear, rectal prostate exam with secretions showed bacteria in prostate. Diagnosed with prostatitis. I am not sure what (clear) meant?
