Avelox for sinus infections

Common Questions and Answers about Avelox for sinus infections

avelox

Avatar m tn I get really bad sinus infections every winter and for the past two years have passed on the antibiotics and started using a Netti Pot as often as I can during the day and right before bed. Might be worth a try. I swear by it now. Google if you've never heard of this. It's not expensive, there are no side effects besides being able to breath again, much less pressure and it really helps with the headaches.
Avatar m tn Avelox and Omnicef are usually for for respiratory infections, and might cure ngu or chlamydia, but probably not gonorrhea. Have you been seen for your discharge and burning?
Avatar m tn As far as your armpits aching, sometimes swollen lymph nodes can cause pain. Lymph nodes can swell because of infections, such as sinus infections. Finally, it is generally not a good idea to start and stop antibiotics- this can cause bacteria to become resistant and difficult to kill. Good luck.
Avatar m tn I think as I have gotten older its has gotten worse and might now need that new ballon procedure for the sinus...avelox and levaquin are like poison to me after being on them for so many weeks,,,anxiety,fatigue...insomnia...restlessness stomach upset...elevated heart rate...floroquines are bad...I still feel effects weeks after stopping them...I hope thats all it is...thanks Doctor...
Avatar m tn There is a new simple balloon surgical procedure that will open up your sinuses without cutting. For someone who has chronic sinus infections, it may be useful....you need to look for an ENT who does this procedure. STart googling the procedure and reading up on it, and search for a doctor that way. You might be a candidate for this....you never know. Most of all, it is time for a second opinion.
660680 tn?1225215237 A few days after the exposure I statrted taking an antibiotic, Avelox, for a sinus issue. Over the weekend I statrted to itch but with no visible signs of a rash. The question I have is this an early sign of HIV infection? Were my blood tests too close to exposure and therefore worthless? Is the "itch" a possible adverse reaction to the Avelox. I stopped taking the antibiotic today. Just overly concerned and need some reassurance that I have not contracted HIV.
Avatar n tn I just spoke with my ENT and she said she doesn't think I have an ear infection(s) she thinks I just have a sinus infection. She thinks I am just having sinus pressure and my sinuses are draining behind my ears. I have never had such bad ear pressure before with all of my sinus infections. But I don't know if a trip to an urgent care to have them check my ears is important to do or not? I decided to start the prednisone the allergist prescribed and took my first dose of 3 pills at 3pm.
Avatar f tn I had to take antibotics twice also. Very bad upper respiratiory infections. Levaquin and Avelox. It will not effect your chances at SVR and there are always all kinds of warnings about liver precautions on the medication guides but my hep doc said they were fine.
Avatar n tn Symptoms come and go but always include excessive sweating, night sweats, sinus infections and overwhelming fatigue. He was recently given Bactrim and had a bad reaction to it. Now we're thinking that antibiotics used over the years may have caused these chronic symptoms. Are we crazy?
Avatar f tn treated with doxycycline by end of june for 1 wk. started on avelox end of july for 1 wk. then given levaquin for a wk. by last wk doc said she didn't think was infection cause levaquin shoudl have killed anything, even though I was still having gobs of green phlegm coming down the back of my throat and out of my lungs. she sent me to the asthma and allergy clinic where i was tested for 27 diff allergies all negative for.
1373852 tn?1307843048 side effects are you talking about? Avelox is a great antibiotic for resp. infections. I have taken it many times and I am a nurse. It is expensive though. Do you smoke? If so, the phlegm is probably building b/c your cilia cannot clear your airway any longer.
Avatar n tn For many years I have pains that pop up for no reason in joints and muscles and last for usually three to six months and then vanish. I get rashes and tiny red spots on my shins and then clear up. The rashes last about the same three to six months. I had these pains in both my shoulders at once, which almost never happens, so I thought it was my rotator cuffs going due to the work that I do.
Avatar n tn Different mechanisms of action but both antiobitics used to treat bacterial infections. Quinilones are used less frequently for sure due to some side effect issues and warnings about the class of drugs. Check with your doctor if you have any concerns but they are definately not the same thing. Often antibiotics have little niches that they are used in. good luck and hope you feel better.
Avatar f tn Took Cipro and the sinus pain was not improved so that was follwed by a course of Avelox where I ended up in the ER by day 7 on it [couldn't walk on my own needed IV fluids]. Off it for a week now and still really tired, various nerve pain, joint pain, muscle fatigue...seems to cycle, weak and dizzy, some blurred vision but it's all better than it had been just seems it should be gone since the meds are out of my system.
Avatar n tn Could be sinus infection too. Go to a hospital so that you can have head and chest x-rays. A chest x-ray is the ONLY way to rule out pneumonia. If you are getting the chest X-ray then no reason not to also have the head X-ray. Doctors treat a sinus infection they can see much more rigorously. Then leave with a good strong antibiotic, if it is a sinus infection you might try Avelox.

Avatar f tn If you have taken any of these drugs, do you remember if you took them before or after you developed cardiac symptoms. I am wondering if my cardiac symptoms are due to taking Avelox for a sinus infection. If you do need an antibioitic make sure that your doctor does not prescribe any of these drugs. They are associated with a number of devastating reactions.
Avatar f tn I had a cough and congestion for about 3 weeks before the doctor was able to diagnose me with a sinus infection. He gave me 875mg of Amoxicillin-twice a day for 10 days along with ZyrtecD and Mucinex. I finished the antibiotic and one of the others at the same time. Two days later, I was still coughing--post nasal drip. I had finished all the meds so I bought some more Mucinex and started that again. In another 2 days I was still had post nasal drep so I started Claritin.
876847 tn?1240239287 Hello, Routinely vibramycin(tetracycline) is not prescribed for sinus infections as the antibiotics of choice for sinusitis are usually penicillins, macrolides, fluorquinolones or cepahalosporins. However if you want to take tetracycline antibiotics, then pls inform your PCP about it before taking it. I hope that helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.Kind regards.
Avatar n tn i'm 23y/o i live in alaska and i've been using a cpap machine for about a year now. in the past 2 months i've had 2 sinus infections. i have never had a sinus infection prior to this. Can this be due to my cpap machine?
Avatar n tn I had to go back to the Doc again for a different antibiotic (1st one was amoxillin(sp) and not strong enough. She gave me 7 Avelox, yukes, my insurance would not cover it and it was $139.00 for 7 pills!!!@ But I am better. I also bought one of those weekly pill boxes so I don't just get them out of the bottle daily and then forget if I took one or not.
Avatar m tn Possible Exposure: Giving unprotected oral sex (cunnlingus) to female - total time 10 to 15 minutes. She ejaculated into my mouth (due to clitoral orgasm) and I swallowed fluids quickly. No other intercourse. After this encounter, I began having symptoms after 10 days or so including sore throat, post-nasal drip, neck lymph nodes swollen, general fatigue (feels like low-grade fever but when temparature is checked, it is 97 to 99).
1609219 tn?1298104935 This is really strange that I found this post because I'm having the exact same thing happen to me. Sinus infections that last for 4-6 weeks that take multiple rounds of antibiotics to cure, and walking pneumonia 3x within less than a year. I just saw an Immunologist last week... waiting on blood work results now.
Avatar m tn Hi, I battle lot's of infections, mainly sinus/upper respiratory, almost monthly, my wbc is not high but always elevated. Was sent to hematology, but clinic only deals with blood cancers, which I do not have. Antibiotics work, Amoxicillin, Bactrim, etc.... but infections always returns. What physician or specialty clinic, deals with chronic infections ? So, I can discuss with my primary doctor for referral, thanks.
Avatar n tn At the end of February, I got a bad case of the flu, which turned into another sinus infection and bronchitis. I had to take Avelox for 10 days and my vaginal symptoms seemed to return. Again, just redness and irritation. Treated again for a yeast infection and symptoms got a little better but never went away until this week...the symptoms are a lot better. I finally saw my doctor again yesterday for my yearly check up.
Avatar m tn Probably the large majority of M gen infections never cause symptoms, and for sure most infections are never diagnosed or treated, and clear up on their own. I cannot imagine it is worth the time and expense to travel internationally to get some new drug for it. And while moxifloxacin resistance may be common in some parts of Australia, it appears to be effective in most geographic areas.
Avatar n tn try avelox, a prescription medication that helped rid me of the crazy smell that went everywhere with me. others have mentioned that stopping using a fabric softener in the laundry helped them. good luck.
