treated with doxycycline by end of june for 1 wk. started on avelox end of july for 1 wk. then given levaquin for a wk. by last wk doc said she didn't think was infection cause levaquin shoudl have killed anything, even though I was still having gobs of green phlegm coming down the back of my throat and out of my lungs. she sent me to the asthma and allergy clinic where i was tested for 27 diff allergies all negative for.
This after seeing 3 ENTs who have said I do not have sinus problems, though I am always dealing with sinus pressure and congestion etc.
Can allergies make me feel so crappy. I can barely breathe right now except for through my mouth. I cleaned the bedroom real good last night and is that what is causing me to feel this bad? I am yellow and green mucus when I blow my nose.
I also have swollen lymph nodes which came up on MRI.
Took Cipro and the sinus pain was not improved so that was follwed by a course of Avelox where I ended up in the ER by day 7 on it [couldn't walk on my own needed IV fluids]. Off it for a week now and still really tired, various nerve pain, joint pain, muscle fatigue...seems to cycle, weak and dizzy, some blurred vision but it's all better than it had been just seems it should be gone since the meds are out of my system.
Could be sinus infection too. Go to a hospital so that you can have head and chest x-rays. A chest x-ray is the ONLY way to rule out pneumonia. If you are getting the chest X-ray then no reason not to also have the head X-ray. Doctors treat a sinus infection they can see much more rigorously. Then leave with a good strong antibiotic, if it is a sinus infection you might try Avelox.
I think as I have gotten older its has gotten worse and might now need that new ballon procedure for the sinus...avelox and levaquin are like poison to me after being on them for so many weeks,,,anxiety,fatigue...insomnia...restlessness stomach upset...elevated heart rate...floroquines are bad...I still feel effects weeks after stopping them...I hope thats all it is...thanks Doctor...
Checked my sinus and said it still a bit inflamed and prescribed doxocycline antibiotic to finish the dose for sinuses that was originally started by my ent who gave me those awful avelox and levaquin meds..He wants to switch me to celexa from valium for my health anxiety too.I am still sore a little under my arms but so are my shoulders from all the physical work I have done over the years.Still stressed but I guess I have to go with what the doctor tells me.Thanks.
If you have taken any of these drugs, do you remember if you took them before or after you developed cardiac symptoms. I am wondering if my cardiac symptoms are due to taking Avelox for a sinus infection. If you do need an antibioitic make sure that your doctor does not prescribe any of these drugs. They are associated with a number of devastating reactions.
Possible Exposure: Giving unprotected oral sex (cunnlingus) to female - total time 10 to 15 minutes. She ejaculated into my mouth (due to clitoral orgasm) and I swallowed fluids quickly. No other intercourse. After this encounter, I began having symptoms after 10 days or so including sore throat, post-nasal drip, neck lymph nodes swollen, general fatigue (feels like low-grade fever but when temparature is checked, it is 97 to 99).
I get really bad sinus infections every winter and for the past two years have passed on the antibiotics and started using a Netti Pot as often as I can during the day and right before bed. Might be worth a try. I swear by it now. Google if you've never heard of this. It's not expensive, there are no side effects besides being able to breath again, much less pressure and it really helps with the headaches.
There is a new simple balloon surgical procedure that will open up your sinuses without cutting. For someone who has chronic sinus infections, it may be useful....you need to look for an ENT who does this procedure. STart googling the procedure and reading up on it, and search for a doctor that way. You might be a candidate for this....you never know. Most of all, it is time for a second opinion.
He then put me on a Avelox for 10 days. During the Avelox course of treatment, I was coughing very hard over the sink in the bathroom and from my right nostril a huge liver looking clot came flying out and splashed all over the place my shirt was covered. It shocked me but then another of the same came out. I had a ct of sinuses the day before and I was very blocked . Next day along with green , came a strange orangey /yellow mucus came out constant for a day , then green again.
I have been prescribed a dose pack of Prednisone for 6 days and plan on going to the Orthopaedic doctor for consult. I have only been walking and trying to take it easy. Just normal house stuff. No heavy lifting or exercising until I get a recommendation. Have you seen this type of tendonitis onset before?
Now, exactly one month later, I have come down with a fever again, along with a weird tickly feeling in the throat/chest, and moderately dry cough, terrible body aches, fatigue, etc. The doctor thinks I might have the flu but put me on Avelox as a precaution against bacterial infection.
I feel completely miserable and I cannot figure out why I am so sick again so soon. Is this common after a bout with pneumonia?
At the end of February, I got a bad case of the flu, which turned into another sinus infection and bronchitis. I had to take Avelox for 10 days and my vaginal symptoms seemed to return. Again, just redness and irritation. Treated again for a yeast infection and symptoms got a little better but never went away until this week...the symptoms are a lot better. I finally saw my doctor again yesterday for my yearly check up.
hello, i am a 37 yr old male with type 1 diabetes, about three months ago i caught the local bug (dry cough,sinus issues),was prescibed antibiotics, about two weeks after taking, the same symptoms returned,prescibed antibiotics again, same result.i just finshed my third round of antibiotics, and at the moment everything seems fine, except now i have some unexplained swelling in my legs,feet and abdomen. doc prisciped a fluid pill which sent my blood glucose into hyperdrive, .
Also, do a search for non-medicinal treatments for heart burn. I know it sounds unlikely. There is a form a acid reflux that does not cause heart burn, but can cause your symptoms and even sinus infections.
If this helps at all, talk to your dr about possible prescription meds for acid reflux.

I have had a problem for years with swelling in my feet and ankles. Traveling, warm weather make it worse. I have noticed a pattern which I was reminded of recently, and that is whenever I take a round of antibiotics, it relieves the swelling for a while. I finished a 10 day course on Avelox about a week and a half ago, and so far have had no swelling. Does anybody have any idea why this happens?
I was diagnosed with pneumonia 4 days ago when I went in for pain in my heart area and shortness in breath.. I'm on antibiotics, still can't cough anything out but today I started feeling pain in my lower back area where kidneys are. I urinate every 10, 15 minutes and the color in clear.. My mouth is dry all the time which I think is a side effect from the antibiotics.
Could have the pneumonia caused issues in my kidneys or bladder???
Has anyone ever had a reaction to antibiotics that turns into a chronic condition? My husband has been ill for the last three years and doctors can't figure out why. Symptoms come and go but always include excessive sweating, night sweats, sinus infections and overwhelming fatigue. He was recently given Bactrim and had a bad reaction to it. Now we're thinking that antibiotics used over the years may have caused these chronic symptoms. Are we crazy?
For many years I have pains that pop up for no reason in joints and muscles and last for usually three to six months and then vanish. I get rashes and tiny red spots on my shins and then clear up. The rashes last about the same three to six months. I had these pains in both my shoulders at once, which almost never happens, so I thought it was my rotator cuffs going due to the work that I do.
