DTP stands for Diptheria/Tetanus/Pertussis (not Polio). Once you are an adult, you would not get the DTP or DTaP since it is reccomended only for children up to age 7. If you have never had any Tetanus vaccinations, you would want to ask your doctor about starting a series of Td shots to get the basic immunity. After that, you would get one every ten years.

From what I understand, older adults may no longer have strong immunity to Pertussis. With certain vaccines, I think for adults they are adding the Pertussis back into it, if you so choose, but I'm not 100%sure. Also, not sure if this is a recommendation by the Pediatricians or your daughter.

side effects are you talking about? Avelox is a great antibiotic for resp. infections. I have taken it many times and I am a nurse. It is expensive though. Do you smoke? If so, the phlegm is probably building b/c your cilia cannot clear your airway any longer.

I have been prescribed a dose pack of Prednisone for 6 days and plan on going to the Orthopaedic doctor for consult. I have only been walking and trying to take it easy. Just normal house stuff. No heavy lifting or exercising until I get a recommendation. Have you seen this type of tendonitis onset before?

I have had a cough for over 5 weeks now. I wasn't sick and it basically popped up out of no where. I haven't ran a fever at all. I went to the doctor, and my throat isn't swollen or sore, and my lungs are clear. When I cough I stop breathing. Its as if my throat closes up completely. It takes me a a bit to catch my breath, but before I am able to, my chest goes to hurting from not being able to breathe. Once I am finally able to breathe again, I feel exhausted.

I was diagnosed with pneumonia 4 days ago when I went in for pain in my heart area and shortness in breath.. I'm on antibiotics, still can't cough anything out but today I started feeling pain in my lower back area where kidneys are. I urinate every 10, 15 minutes and the color in clear.. My mouth is dry all the time which I think is a side effect from the antibiotics. Could have the pneumonia caused issues in my kidneys or bladder???

A few days after the exposure I statrted taking an antibiotic, Avelox, for a sinus issue. Over the weekend I statrted to itch but with no visible signs of a rash. The question I have is this an early sign of HIV infection? Were my blood tests too close to exposure and therefore worthless? Is the "itch" a possible adverse reaction to the Avelox. My last tetanus (Td) shot was in 2007 (9 years ago). I asked my doctor if I can have my booster shot now before I lose my health insurance in a few weeks. He told me that since I wasn't due for a booster until next year that I would have to wait (and therefore pay for it out of pocket). They tested me for TB- negative, the lab messed up the test for cat stratch fever and tested for pertussis so need to go give blood again to rule that out as cause of GM. (Interesting thing is that 2 of the levels of pertussis came back high and I have never had pertussis in my life, so now I need to figure that out.) And also, she wants me to get a second opinion from another breast surgeon to see if she is missing anything surgically, etc. I totally trust her and have agreed.
