treated with doxycycline by end of june for 1 wk. started on avelox end of july for 1 wk. then given levaquin for a wk. by last wk doc said she didn't think was infection cause levaquin shoudl have killed anything, even though I was still having gobs of green phlegm coming down the back of my throat and out of my lungs. she sent me to the asthma and allergy clinic where i was tested for 27 diff allergies all negative for.
Hi, I was being treated for an ear infection by a nurse pract and she thought the I had wax build up . She placed me on Avelox. Still blocked and in incredible pain onto ear antibiotics drops w/steroroids. These were just sitting in my ear. I went to an ENT he removed pus said I had a horrible infection did not know how I was up and about. He put me on a different antibiotic/steriod concetrate drops. 4 days later I could not hear at all.
I had to go back to the Doc again for a different antibiotic (1st one was amoxillin(sp) and not strong enough. She gave me 7 Avelox, yukes, my insurance would not cover it and it was $139.00 for 7 pills!!!@ But I am better. I also bought one of those weekly pill boxes so I don't just get them out of the bottle daily and then forget if I took one or not.
On Monday I went in and saw my GP who said that I have a severe middle ear infection in both ears with pus drainage and also walking pneumonia. He prescribed me 2 weeks worth of Avelox. I took the first dose today and I can feel a "slight" change, my ears aren't draining nearly as much -- the right ear has pretty much stopped completely. However, my hearing is pretty much diminished. I can hear sounds but everything is extremely muffled and off.
For many years I have pains that pop up for no reason in joints and muscles and last for usually three to six months and then vanish. I get rashes and tiny red spots on my shins and then clear up. The rashes last about the same three to six months. I had these pains in both my shoulders at once, which almost never happens, so I thought it was my rotator cuffs going due to the work that I do.
but I still have the throat pain and the ear still hurts. He insists there is no infection or swelling in the ear. I am beyond frustrated! I'm tired of being sick and tired, literally, and I'm sure people are tired of hearing me complain too! What could this be? I know it all is related somehow. Any thoughts are welcome! Thanks.

Out of many causes of ankle and feet swelling , one cause is Leg infection . That is the reason why your symptoms subside for a while when you take antibiotics . Whenever you get swelling next time , please get a CBP with ESR test done to know the specific causative organism and take treatment accordingly . Please consult a physician for the same . Currently I have 6 days remaining on the doxycycline and 9 days remaining on the avelox. I have not engaged in any sexual activity whatsoever since my diagnosis however I still have a very mild clear mucus discharge primarily in the morning; the penile itching and dysuria has abated.
The problem persisted and it seem to show a lack of flow when i was peeing and it also took alot of push to get the pee even when i knew i had to go. coinsidentally, I was given Avelox for my ear infection a day later. I have been on avelox for 5 days now it still burns when i pee, the tip of the penis is swollen and the hole is red and swollen. 2 days ago i went to the urgent care and got tested for my urine sample and that showed up clear and I called today and they stated the std of gon.
I was on levaquin, cipro, avelox sporadically for 5 years. They were trying to fight a sinus infection. I ended up with 24 diagnosis from 7 specialists. I truly thought that I was going to die. Fluroquinolones work as a chemotherapy. They will infest every system that your body has and will kill or attack vital organs. It usually takes at least 3 years of not taking any fluroquinolones before you will really notice an improvement.
This time I was only told that I had an ear infection and she suspected my ears may not be draining properly. She prescribed antibiotics (Bactrim) and Lodrane. Well, I ended up going back to the doctor 2 weeks later, still having issues, but I had broken out in a rash over my entire body - apparently from being in the sun and taking antibiotics. Anyway, my doctor said that my ears looked alright but there was swelling in my sinuses.
With no place for the infection to go it can be very painful. This may be the case for you. I am not sure how long or how bad your abcess was present before the root canal was performed.
I would get a second opinion from an endodontist. I the state that I live in it does require a referral.

If you have taken any of these drugs, do you remember if you took them before or after you developed cardiac symptoms. I am wondering if my cardiac symptoms are due to taking Avelox for a sinus infection. If you do need an antibioitic make sure that your doctor does not prescribe any of these drugs. They are associated with a number of devastating reactions.
Thanks for the info. I was on Avelox for 14-day and I have not had discharge for over 7 weeks now. And the MG DNA test from urine is also negative.
However, I have symptome of chronic prostatitis, but doctors are not seeing any actual infections, and told me I should not be on AB.
Initially I had doxy for 3 weeks, but the UTI just came back after 2 weeks. I think a lot of people are as desperate as I am.
Can more people share their experience or methods to alleviate the symptoms?
Could be sinus infection too. Go to a hospital so that you can have head and chest x-rays. A chest x-ray is the ONLY way to rule out pneumonia. If you are getting the chest X-ray then no reason not to also have the head X-ray. Doctors treat a sinus infection they can see much more rigorously. Then leave with a good strong antibiotic, if it is a sinus infection you might try Avelox.
Was on antibiotics for 35 days z-pack,ceftin, avelox, biaxcin xl. Sinus infection went away, but dizzy like shocks did not.(they still happen 3 to 4 times a day)
I also experince very stiff jaw (sometimes) after i havebeen talking for a bit, Pain in my temple area(sometimes) almost as if there was a pimple under skin, and deep ear pain.
I went to ENT had hearing, balance test,etc.... no sign of any infection.
ENT told me I had an ear infection and that that could have led to the coughing. He puts me on antibiotics again to kill the ear infection for 10 days. After that I went back to see him, but I was still coughing. He told me ear infection was gone, but my tonsills were enlarged (which have been happening since I was 12 years old, I am now 28). IWhen my tonsills get enlarged, I sometimes have white hard smelly small balls come out of it ( I know TMI).
Possible Exposure: Giving unprotected oral sex (cunnlingus) to female - total time 10 to 15 minutes. She ejaculated into my mouth (due to clitoral orgasm) and I swallowed fluids quickly. No other intercourse. After this encounter, I began having symptoms after 10 days or so including sore throat, post-nasal drip, neck lymph nodes swollen, general fatigue (feels like low-grade fever but when temparature is checked, it is 97 to 99).
