1. Can you have diverticulitis without a fever? I have had, for about 3 weeks, lower left abdominal pain and nausea exactly like the symptoms for which I was hospitalized in July 07, with the exception of no fever and no diarreah. 2. When I have this pain and nausea, should I go back to clear liquids or continue with high fiber. I am trying to intake mostly soluble fiber. 3. My mother, age 71, had surgery for acute diverticulitis the first part of May, 2008. For the four days after surgery she was feeling fine and on the road to recovery. side effects are you talking about? Avelox is a great antibiotic for resp. infections. I have taken it many times and I am a nurse. It is expensive though. Do you smoke? If so, the phlegm is probably building b/c your cilia cannot clear your airway any longer.

I have been prescribed a dose pack of Prednisone for 6 days and plan on going to the Orthopaedic doctor for consult. I have only been walking and trying to take it easy. Just normal house stuff. No heavy lifting or exercising until I get a recommendation. Have you seen this type of tendonitis onset before?

I have had a problem for years with swelling in my feet and ankles. Traveling, warm weather make it worse. I have noticed a pattern which I was reminded of recently, and that is whenever I take a round of antibiotics, it relieves the swelling for a while. I finished a 10 day course on Avelox about a week and a half ago, and so far have had no swelling. Does anybody have any idea why this happens?

I was diagnosed with pneumonia 4 days ago when I went in for pain in my heart area and shortness in breath.. I'm on antibiotics, still can't cough anything out but today I started feeling pain in my lower back area where kidneys are. I urinate every 10, 15 minutes and the color in clear.. My mouth is dry all the time which I think is a side effect from the antibiotics. Could have the pneumonia caused issues in my kidneys or bladder???

Weight loss can come from both diverticulitis and ulcers. But the weight loss indicates a worsening of her diverticulitis, which can be fatal. Drinking alcohol on top of all this ulceration and diverticulitis can hasten this outcome. If she would simply quit drinking and follow her physician's advice on how to control the diverticulitis and how to control her ulcers, she would not lose anymore weight and she will live.

A few days after the exposure I statrted taking an antibiotic, Avelox, for a sinus issue. Over the weekend I statrted to itch but with no visible signs of a rash. The question I have is this an early sign of HIV infection? Were my blood tests too close to exposure and therefore worthless? Is the "itch" a possible adverse reaction to the Avelox. I stopped taking the antibiotic today. Just overly concerned and need some reassurance that I have not contracted HIV.

For many years I have pains that pop up for no reason in joints and muscles and last for usually three to six months and then vanish. I get rashes and tiny red spots on my shins and then clear up. The rashes last about the same three to six months. I had these pains in both my shoulders at once, which almost never happens, so I thought it was my rotator cuffs going due to the work that I do.

I have read about overgrowth and did take cipro 500 mg daily for 5 days and came out of being so weak I could hardly walk episode!..the dr said just try and it helped..thank you! I know taking antibiotics when no fever or culture sounds questionable but it did help a few months ago.....I am in pain a lot but when I am really weak..I wonder if something else is going on..

i have severe abdominal pain that is intermittent. i was late for my period for 24 days.i am still having abd. pain, however i started my period today. i felt terrible. whatis the reason for this?i have never been late and never with the abd. pain on top of this. i am eating like a pig.does anyone think that i may be paramenopausal. i am only 41.,or do u think something more is going on?

treated with doxycycline by end of june for 1 wk. started on avelox end of july for 1 wk. then given levaquin for a wk. by last wk doc said she didn't think was infection cause levaquin shoudl have killed anything, even though I was still having gobs of green phlegm coming down the back of my throat and out of my lungs. she sent me to the asthma and allergy clinic where i was tested for 27 diff allergies all negative for.

Surgeon is ordering CT and then may check for adhesions, but I think he is really doing for my peace of mind as when he examines me, he can not feel any "inflammatory changes" and thinks I am okay. Take care and keep us posted.

Thanks for the info. I was on Avelox for 14-day and I have not had discharge for over 7 weeks now. And the MG DNA test from urine is also negative. However, I have symptome of chronic prostatitis, but doctors are not seeing any actual infections, and told me I should not be on AB. Initially I had doxy for 3 weeks, but the UTI just came back after 2 weeks. I think a lot of people are as desperate as I am. Can more people share their experience or methods to alleviate the symptoms?

Thanks for the response. My diverticulitis is in the colon. My first attach was in 2007 and I have had a total of 10 attacks, uncomplicated, since then with only one hospitalization. I have had years with no episodes and then all of sudden, 3 episodes in a row within just a span of a few months. I don't know why I can go years with nothing and then months with recurrent attacks. I'm concerned that you are still having pain.

I have not had Diverticulitis for sometime, and then out of the blue I got a very sore tummy and it was on the right hand side then as it got worse it went to the left as well. I was on antibiotics and that cleared it up but have only been off them for 2 weeks and it is sore on both sides again.

I was finally told this weekend that I have Diverticulitis/colitis. For months, I have been searching for answers to what is wrong. The pain was finally so severe that I went to the ER thinking I had appendicitis. After a Ct scan with contrast, I was finally diagnosised. I have not had a colonoscopy. I am guessing this would be my next step? I have had back pain that feels like a kidney infection for a year. I had been tested for it and even kidney stones and was neg.

I under went a colonoscopy on Thursday and they found inflammation and diverticulitis in the sigmoid colon. He also found something at the other end of my colon and is awaiting biopsy results. What I don't understand is my symptoms don't match diverticulitis and have been on going for over a decade. In 2001 I started having bloody bowel movements with extreme abdominal pain, I also lost forty pounds in six months.
