I took it for 35 days, and things were well, more or less. Back in port, went to resupply on avelox, they didnt have it, doc put me on cipro/trinidazole combo. Now a week later and the pain is back in my urethra.
Could this be episodes of Herpetic urethritis? I think the avelox worked, but perhaps it was just a good month? The doc in port thought prostatitis (but he was also DDx-ing with wikipedia, i dont know if i trust it)
please help!
It came back positive for Chlamydia. I have been treated for this now 4 times, have not had sex in a year with my fiance and my test continues to come back positive. I have been treated with the doxycycline everytime because the other medication I am unable to take due to allergies. Are there any other treatments other than the doxycycline and azithromyacine?

Currently I have 6 days remaining on the doxycycline and 9 days remaining on the avelox. I have not engaged in any sexual activity whatsoever since my diagnosis however I still have a very mild clear mucus discharge primarily in the morning; the penile itching and dysuria has abated.
I was diagnosed with Chlamydia in April, was given Azythromycin and after a few days things felt clear. A month later i had similar symptoms, went back, tested negative for chlamydia and gonorrhea. I was given a 10 day course of Doxycycline. still had symptoms after this so more doxy, metrodinazole was given. no true relief. I then went on avelox which seemed to help but my persciption ran out as I am at sea.
but why in the bloody hell are you on Levaquin for chlamydia..if you really believe that you did indeed have chlamydia..then number 1 you should have been given a shot of ceftriaxone though most doctors use the 250 mg vial I would have given you a 1 to 2 gram dosage...
then you should have been put on a tetracycline antibiotic such as doxycycline...
and say given 30 days worth of it ...... that would have knocked chlamydia out or gonorrhea out..
Thanks for the info. I was on Avelox for 14-day and I have not had discharge for over 7 weeks now. And the MG DNA test from urine is also negative.
However, I have symptome of chronic prostatitis, but doctors are not seeing any actual infections, and told me I should not be on AB.
Initially I had doxy for 3 weeks, but the UTI just came back after 2 weeks. I think a lot of people are as desperate as I am.
Can more people share their experience or methods to alleviate the symptoms?
As I am currently situated in China and am not too confident of the Chinese hospitals, I visited an International Medical Center where the doctor diagnosed a Chlamydia infection. There was only a urine sample test done and I was prescribed Ofloxacin. My itch and discharge cleared up after I was done with the medication, 4 x 100 mg tablets, 2 times daily for 5 days.
I have been prescribed a dose pack of Prednisone for 6 days and plan on going to the Orthopaedic doctor for consult. I have only been walking and trying to take it easy. Just normal house stuff. No heavy lifting or exercising until I get a recommendation. Have you seen this type of tendonitis onset before?
I have had a problem for years with swelling in my feet and ankles. Traveling, warm weather make it worse. I have noticed a pattern which I was reminded of recently, and that is whenever I take a round of antibiotics, it relieves the swelling for a while. I finished a 10 day course on Avelox about a week and a half ago, and so far have had no swelling. Does anybody have any idea why this happens?
Ciprofloxacin, Avelox, Levaquin, norefloxacin, etc) cause, instead of choosing to diagnose each symptom individually?
I was diagnosed with pneumonia 4 days ago when I went in for pain in my heart area and shortness in breath.. I'm on antibiotics, still can't cough anything out but today I started feeling pain in my lower back area where kidneys are. I urinate every 10, 15 minutes and the color in clear.. My mouth is dry all the time which I think is a side effect from the antibiotics.
Could have the pneumonia caused issues in my kidneys or bladder???
For many years I have pains that pop up for no reason in joints and muscles and last for usually three to six months and then vanish. I get rashes and tiny red spots on my shins and then clear up. The rashes last about the same three to six months. I had these pains in both my shoulders at once, which almost never happens, so I thought it was my rotator cuffs going due to the work that I do.
Treated it with Monistat and got some relief but a week later, it seemed to be back. I saw a doctor who did cultures for yeast, chlamydia and gonnoreah, all of them came back negative,even the yeast. After a couple of weeks, the symptoms lessened and it seemed to go away even though I still felt kind of "weird" down there.
At the end of February, I got a bad case of the flu, which turned into another sinus infection and bronchitis.
The problem persisted and it seem to show a lack of flow when i was peeing and it also took alot of push to get the pee even when i knew i had to go. coinsidentally, I was given Avelox for my ear infection a day later. I have been on avelox for 5 days now it still burns when i pee, the tip of the penis is swollen and the hole is red and swollen. 2 days ago i went to the urgent care and got tested for my urine sample and that showed up clear and I called today and they stated the std of gon.

So I started having unprotected sex with girl #1.I thought I felt a little urethritis about a week after we first started having sex, and when I peed it kind of sprayed, so I went to get checked.I also had a slight drip that looked like pre ***.The results came out negative. I then have unprotected sex with girl #2.I then go back to having sex with girl #1. A couple weeks later, my urethritis and drip gets even worse and I start to have full on discharges.
Went to urgent care and they changed the antibiotic to Avelox and also gave me steroids. I was reading about Avelox and it mentioned serious heart rhythm side effects - a rare heart called prolongation of QT interval. I am scared to death to take this. I did disclose to the doctor that I suffer from SVT but she didn't mention side effects or warnings. My question is.....has anyone had any reactions to this antibiotic?
If you have taken any of these drugs, do you remember if you took them before or after you developed cardiac symptoms. I am wondering if my cardiac symptoms are due to taking Avelox for a sinus infection. If you do need an antibioitic make sure that your doctor does not prescribe any of these drugs. They are associated with a number of devastating reactions.
