It's good to hear the ER worked you up for NGU and UTI. (UTI really is too rare in healthy men to be a serious consideration.) I also didn't realize you had been started on a full course of doxycycline. Once started, you should continue it. Since you don't have NGU and probably don't have either gonorrhea or chlamydia, I expect you will find your symptoms persist despite the antibiotic; my bet is that no bacterial infection is present.
Thanks for the info. I was on Avelox for 14-day and I have not had discharge for over 7 weeks now. And the MG DNA test from urine is also negative.
However, I have symptome of chronic prostatitis, but doctors are not seeing any actual infections, and told me I should not be on AB.
Initially I had doxy for 3 weeks, but the UTI just came back after 2 weeks. I think a lot of people are as desperate as I am.
Can more people share their experience or methods to alleviate the symptoms?
He then put me on a Avelox for 10 days. During the Avelox course of treatment, I was coughing very hard over the sink in the bathroom and from my right nostril a huge liver looking clot came flying out and splashed all over the place my shirt was covered. Next day along with green , came a strange orangey /yellow mucus came out constant for a day , then green again.
I have been prescribed a dose pack of Prednisone for 6 days and plan on going to the Orthopaedic doctor for consult. I have only been walking and trying to take it easy. Just normal house stuff. No heavy lifting or exercising until I get a recommendation. Have you seen this type of tendonitis onset before?
I have had a problem for years with swelling in my feet and ankles. Traveling, warm weather make it worse. I have noticed a pattern which I was reminded of recently, and that is whenever I take a round of antibiotics, it relieves the swelling for a while. I finished a 10 day course on Avelox about a week and a half ago, and so far have had no swelling. Does anybody have any idea why this happens?
Ciprofloxacin, Avelox, Levaquin, norefloxacin, etc) cause, instead of choosing to diagnose each symptom individually?
I was diagnosed with pneumonia 4 days ago when I went in for pain in my heart area and shortness in breath.. I'm on antibiotics, still can't cough anything out but today I started feeling pain in my lower back area where kidneys are. I urinate every 10, 15 minutes and the color in clear.. My mouth is dry all the time which I think is a side effect from the antibiotics.
Could have the pneumonia caused issues in my kidneys or bladder???
For many years I have pains that pop up for no reason in joints and muscles and last for usually three to six months and then vanish. I get rashes and tiny red spots on my shins and then clear up. The rashes last about the same three to six months. I had these pains in both my shoulders at once, which almost never happens, so I thought it was my rotator cuffs going due to the work that I do.
I did go on a long course of Azithromycin back in May to see if it was just a resistant UTI that needed a longer course of antibiotics, I had a 1G dosage, followed by 6 additional days of 250mg twice per day. This is more than enough to wipe out Myco. My doctor advised that she'd also done another combination of ABX to rule this one out too earlier, which involved Metronoidazole and Doxicycline.
treated with doxycycline by end of june for 1 wk. started on avelox end of july for 1 wk. then given levaquin for a wk. by last wk doc said she didn't think was infection cause levaquin shoudl have killed anything, even though I was still having gobs of green phlegm coming down the back of my throat and out of my lungs. she sent me to the asthma and allergy clinic where i was tested for 27 diff allergies all negative for.
I went to the doc treated me for UTI after seeing what they called trace amounts of wbc in urine but they said they were very few??? No Help, after taking amox for 12 days I went back 2days after being off of Amox and was tested for everything except trich I also took additional HSV typ 1 and 2 test at 16 weeks negative except type one. Now my only concern is trich, since there is no accurate way to test for it in men and since the cure rate for treating it in men is not the best.

Had unprotected oral (only) sex exposure (giving and recvg) 2 months ago. Took 8 days of 400mg Avelox for sinus infection post exposure. took a urine sample and it came back negative for bacteria; culture was also negative. This morning, I peed on the home UTI stick and it was positive (Positive leukocytes and negative nitrites). Doctor thinks I am bacteria free and it will pass. Doctor told me to stop peeing on the stick and the postive result from the stick it is not as reliable as the lab test.
My sex partner states that she exhibits no signs of discomfort. I suggested that she see her Gyne and check.
I received 1 pill for the yeast infection and i took 1 pill twice a day for 3 days for the UTI. My symptoms went away for both infections. Not even 2 months later in December i started having UTI symptoms again. I went to planned parenthood and they told me i had no sign of infection in my urine and the UTI was probably passing.
Went to urgent care and they changed the antibiotic to Avelox and also gave me steroids. I was reading about Avelox and it mentioned serious heart rhythm side effects - a rare heart called prolongation of QT interval. I am scared to death to take this. I did disclose to the doctor that I suffer from SVT but she didn't mention side effects or warnings. My question is.....has anyone had any reactions to this antibiotic?
If you have taken any of these drugs, do you remember if you took them before or after you developed cardiac symptoms. I am wondering if my cardiac symptoms are due to taking Avelox for a sinus infection. If you do need an antibioitic make sure that your doctor does not prescribe any of these drugs. They are associated with a number of devastating reactions.
