Avelox depression

Common Questions and Answers about Avelox depression

avelox

The feeling I got in my chest at the time was almost like I felt when on Avelox. I searched Avelox on line and I am shocked at the side affects some people have had. I am scared now that this medication has damaged my heart. Just wondering if anyone else has taken Avelox and if they are experiencing problems like me.
The only thing I have so far is; I have sinusitus and was prescribed Avelox 400 mg per day and Ru-Tuss twice daily. My most recent blood work showed my Homocysteine, Nutr/Congen was at 45.8 with a UMOL/L range of 5.4-11.9. I am scheduled to test my cortisol, testosterone and such through saliva as well as the test for serritonin, dopamine, etc... Any suggestions, comments, help.....all would be greatly appreciated!!
The 40 sum doctors I've seen, believe that I just have anxiety/depression, chronic pain disorder and there is nothing they can do to treat the tumor, as they believe it's not causing any of my symptoms. My symptoms are (for me being a 30 year old male); anxiety, depression, chronic debilitating fatigue, headaches like you would not believe, unable to wake up in the morning, but can't sleep at night...it's as if my cortisol levels are completely backwards.
Has anyone taken Avelox 400mg. an antibotic. I have been taking now for 7 days and it has been hell for me. About an hour after I take it, I start to get anxiety and then I start to hyperventilate. My doctor thinks it not the Avelox because he has never had a patient complain about anxiety/hyperventilation. He said just take a Xanax to help you through and tough it out.. How many Xanax do you have to take to calm down.
I have had SEVERE joint pain from taking avelox. After 2 days of taking the antibiotic for a combined sinus and a mrsa staff infection, I had crippling joint & tendon pain in my knees, ankles, Achilles, shins and hips. After calling my dr. and speaking to my pharmacist, i stopped taking the medicine immediately. I made an appointment with the prescribing dr.
This new box warning via FDA is something i've been aware of for some time in patients using ciprofloxaxin, levaquin (levofloxacin), Moxifloxacin (Avelox), ofloxacin (floxin), gatifloxacin (tequin), and i'm glad it'll be highlighted on labeling, showing it's increasing incidence: risk of tendinitis and tendon rupture is further increased in those over age 60, in kidney, heart, and lung transplant recipients, and with use of concomitant steroid therapy.
Bactiflox is in the fluoroquinolone family of antibiotics. Are you still taking it? I took Avelox and a friend took Levaquin, and we both had the same rxn. I went to the ER also. Stopped the drug after 2 days, and in a few more days was sleeping normally. I asked another doctor, and he said it was a less common side effect of that class of antibiotics. Make sure to get at least your TSH and free t4 tested.
Hi: After reading most of the questions..I am depressed thinking there is no cure for Horseness and coughing...At the present time, I have been on all different meds...Nothing helps!! A friend of mine told me to put vicks on my feet and put socks on before going to bed and it has helped my coughing a little...Presently I am on Avelox for an URI plus all my other meds...I have to keep away from milk and dairy products, spicy foods, cigarette smoke, and the cold air and Hot air...
I was going through a life transition at the time having just graduated from college and seeking employment. I developed a depression and the Paxil as well as psychotherapy was very helpful. I am now well settled and feel that I have healed from the experience and wish to discontinue the Paxil. I am, however, terrified of the horror stories I've read about discontinuing Paxil. In your experience as a pharmacist, do most people have a difficult time discontinuing this SSRI?
I have read some cases of men in the same boat, all at a loss, all suffering. I cannot focus. It's all rather unfortunate and entirely depressing. Could you please be of any help? Have you heard of this before? Thank you, once more, for your valuable time. I am desperate. Please, your opinion.
I was correct, doc said it was severe and gave me avelox to treat it, I had a terrible severe allergic reaction to that med. I was then afraid to take any antibiotic, so I waited about a week or so to start the azithromycin..I wanted all the side effects from the avelox to clear up..which they hadnt but I bit the bullet so to speak..Took a weeks worth, sinus' felt better..but then I started noticing I couldnt take very good deep breaths..sometimes I could and then I couldnt at times..

This slowly developed into flushed palms and fingers, anxiety attacks, irregular heartbeat, weight gain of 45 pounds over the course of 9 months, fatigue followed by at times bursts of incredible energy, worsening sinus and allergy problems, heel pain, gritty feeling in my one eye, mood swings, depression, trembling hands, and acid reflux. Strangely enough, alot of these symptoms started after I took an Avelox pill for a sinus infection and subsequently had a severe reaction to it.
She also complained of nausea and constipation along with all the symptoms before mentioned so he changed her antibiotic from Bactrim to Avelox 400mg, gave her Prilosec OTC, wrote her a prescription for compozine, and told her to take Miralax for constipation. She took the Miralax and a prilosec yesterday but decided to wait and start the Avelox today. Compozine was not taken due to listed side effects. She awoke at 12:30am shaky, weak, nauseated, and had dry heaves.
Are you feeling anxious or depressed at all? The only reason I ask is that I have had similar symptoms and am putting it down to tenseness (scalp and shoulder tenseness can lead to odd pains in the head) and possibly allergy. Some medications can also give you those symptoms. Are you on anything? Also, it depends on your age too. When you say "confusion" do you mean like you get if you get a fright ie like a panic attack? A normal MRI is a good thing.
I mentioned that I would be moving out of the country in about a month and she immediately called in a presciption for AVELOX for 3 weeks and said we should try to get this fixed before I leave and see if this works. I am trying to research sinus cysts but have not found much useful info on it. Any advice? She seemed to mention that I had an infection and that there was no infection which doesn't make any sense! Help!
I even had one doc tell me I had anxiety and depression probs that was all that was wrong with me...when you have issues like that he said....you think everything is wrong with you...well i proved him wrong with the lymph nodes...I am getting no where with the medical community. I just want my healthy life back.
Avelox. I am starting to think it's not the anitbiotics that are causing it. Could it possibly be stress? In addition to my health, things at work have been verrrry stressful. I know stress can do a number of things to your body such as muscle twitches and so forth... Any advice?
Did you, by any chance, take a fluoroquinolone antibiotic such as Cipro, Levaquin or Avelox. If you did, this would explain your symptoms. It causes neuropathy, tendon issues, joint problems, etc. Look it up.
, Phytoestrogen (GNC Supplement) 2 capsules daily *Initially treated with Omnicef, later Avelox. Both have been discontinued * Additional Medications added later: Pen-VK 500mg q.i.d. & Prednisone 40-mg q.d., which was tapered off in 10mg increments, over about 1 month. Allergies: Spironolactone caused loss of consciousness, loss of bladder control, monetarily stopped breathing and pupils immediately dilated.

I have some slight chills and a little bit of stomach discomfort. Im so depressed right now its not even funny though. Im practically crying as I type this. I was depressed before even taking pain pills and now its 10x worse. Id rather not go on prescription anti depressants cause ive never talked to a single person they worked for. Is there anything I can take to help with the lack of energy and depression? I know it will be better after a while of being off the pills completely.
Did your Dr. prescribe you any of these meds Levaquin, Tequin, Cipro or Avelox (Antibiotic) ? Check out this website. http://www.drugvictims.org/ Anxiety & Stress can cause physical illness, but you need to look at prior to the 2 months and the past 2 months, are you under a lot of stress or do you have extra anxiety in your life currently (other than the anxiety over being ill...that can be overwhelming to say the least).
Im still researching them to find out the side effects. Im am currently on claritin, singulair, avelox, dexamethasone, methylprednisone, and cymbalta (for anxiety/depression). My question is areyou perhaps on any of these same medications? I found it strange that we had headaches in the same area. your post sounded almost like something I would have said in fact except the fact that you are 27 adn Im 24. did you get a solution to your twitching however?

It comes back to force us to deal with it in the form of anxiety and/or depression. Yours may have been caused by all you've been dealing with. I would contact your doctor and explain to him what you did to us, he will understand and know what to do. I wish you all the best, and good luck with the new job! Take care.
irreversible peripheral neuropathy, tendonitis, tendon rupture, CNS disorders, bone marrow depression and many more. Ref. FDA website : Information for Healthcare Professionals.
My psychiatrist put me on Lamictal for depression around 6/3/2003 I believe. I started with 25 mgs morning and night and after 2 weeks 50 mgs morning and night. After 3 weeks total, I stopped taking it because I was not comfortable taking a medication that was off-label use for depression, there were alot of other antidepressants I haven't tried. Also I had already read about the Stevens Johnson syndrome and that scared me, even though it is rare.
