I was prescribed six 500mg Levaquin tablets to treat Strep Throat and a potential sinus infection. I only took 4 of the 6 pills since the side effects were getting to much to handle. I started on 3/12/2010 to 3/15/2010.
Here were the side effects:
-nausea
-no appetite
-headaches
-dizziness
-diarrhea
-anxiety attacks
-confusion, like you don't feel like yourself
After I stopped taking it, my nausea and appetite returned gradually in the following two days.
And nobody has ever been known to catch HIV by performing oral sex on a woman. And your symptoms are typical for a strep throat or viral infection, and are not typical of ARS. Had you been my patient, I would not have done a PCR for HIV, and the negative result at 6 days doesn't mean anything; it often takes longer than that to become positive. My boyfriend is in the military and the last two times I've gone to visit him on base I have performed unprotected oral sex and gotten strep throat.
My brother tested positive for strep throat today and I've been around him..they're supposed yo induce on Monday. If I am to come down with strep will they still induce? How soon will strep affect me if I've caught it? And is there anything I can do meanwhile to help fight any bacteria I've already been exposed to?

Hi everyone, recently I went to the doctor with a nasty sore throat that had started to get swollen and accumulate white spots. He tested me for strep and found that it was not that, and my lymph nodes are not swollen for it to be mono. He said it was a viral infection that should last about three to four days. Anyway, the next day, I performed oral sex on my boyfriend. The day after that, I realized the infection had gotten even worse (at least to me). Could this have exacerbated the problem?
Also of people get fever and feel really sick with a strep inection but sometimes all you have is a chronic sore throat. If you let a strep infection go for a long time without treatment it can make you seriously ill and could even kill you.That is rare but it does happen. Go to the doc. A simple exam and maybe a throat swab should reveal the cause of your sore throat. Good luck, hope you feel better.
t think was infection cause levaquin shoudl have killed anything, even though I was still having gobs of green phlegm coming down the back of my throat and out of my lungs. she sent me to the asthma and allergy clinic where i was tested for 27 diff allergies all negative for. my nose was bleeding and i had a fever, 2 days after finishing levaquin. asthma clinic sent me for a cat scan of my head which showed a horrible infection in my sinuses. coughing was out of control.
What you are describing sounds more like strep throat. Do you have a fever? Strep throat can be quite painful when swallowing and cause a general feeling of malaise, with whitish "dots" appearing in the back of your throat. If left untreated, strep throat can lead to other more serious complications. You should seek medical attention.
Fever does not come down with either Motrin or tylenol, and only when I combine 50mg of relafen with 500mg of Tylenol, my fever goes down from 103 to 100
I did see my Family Doc 2 days back who is a family friend too (I did not tell him about the sexual encounters). Rapid strep was negative in office. Throat cultures are pending. When he wiped the exudates, it bled, he said that it was unusual for strep throat to do that.
WBC -11k, CRP-2.
I've had strep throat like symptoms, but it's not strep throat. I've had 4 different doctors do 4 different swabs, one of which when to the CDC, they all came back clean. I've been to an ear nose and throat doctor who scoped me and saw nothing. An allergist who prescribed me antiviral meds (Valacyclovir Hydrochloride 1000mg), steroids to help with swelling and other medications to previously try. Needless to say, they haven't worked.
I know strep and allergies are definitely two different things, but it could be that if he has an allergy issue, his nasal passages and throat get irritated from that and then an infection occurs - the strep throat. This past winter I, myself, got strep throat twice and pneumonia once - the first bout of strep actually landed me in the hospital for 4 days.
I believe it is you may be leading up to a sinus infection. I have started with a sore throat a few times and had signs of strep. But I wait to get treated the pain isn't there anymore and then I find out I have a sinus infection and strep. You may should get your tonsils out if you get strep to often. OK, now I understand your concern: you're asking whether, if your partner also has strep in her mouth and throat, she could infect you by oral sex. The answer is no, for two reasons: penile strep infections are extremely rare, if they occur at all; and second, you are 100% protected from a new strep infection while taking amoxicillin. So no worries at all.
I am now on antibiotics for strep throat and it seems to not be work, which I had a throat culture with positive for strep.
My oral infection is getting worse.
I was tested for HIV at 6 1/2 weeks after risky sex, and it was negative.
Why is my oral infection, which I believe to be thrush not responding to treatment and strep not responding to antibiotics?
How reliable is my negative test result on HIV test?
I am still not feeling well at times.
I have read on many other posts that is possible to get herpes (hsv2) of the throat (with no mouth sores but rare).. and some other websites say its not possible.. I trust the experts on this site so I am assuming that it is possible..
Does anyone know if a primary throat herpes breakout clears up within 5 days of symptoms appearing only to return 3/4 days later as bad as ever?
2 doctors told me I had strep.. second one tested for strep came back positive..
Consider your drinking water a source. We were on well water and were informed that the constant strep throat infection my kids had could be coming from the water they were drinking. Strep can be passed through water. Ever since we have been on bottled water we have been in the clear.
