I am feeling a bit uncomfortable in and around penis, testicles and around. I did some urine and STI tests and all came clear. I did a semen culture and it came positive for pseudomonas aeruginosa. Is pseudomonas aeruginosa serious in semen and does it impacts fertility if left untreated? Please suggest what is the right treatment for it when it is present in semen. Thank you!

For many years I have pains that pop up for no reason in joints and muscles and last for usually three to six months and then vanish. I get rashes and tiny red spots on my shins and then clear up. The rashes last about the same three to six months. I had these pains in both my shoulders at once, which almost never happens, so I thought it was my rotator cuffs going due to the work that I do.

Avelox... I went yesterday and saw a lung specialist, he calmed me down and told me that i only have a little pneumonia in my lower left side it's nothing to be worried about. It's the bronchitis that's causing a lot of pain in my chest and back that I did not have prior to the antibiotics.

My daughter had pseudomonas several months ago and had to have her ear swabbed and cultured. The pseudomonas was resistant to all the drug classses but the newest cyclosporin. She has had chronic ear infections since she was a baby (she's 13).

Currently I have 6 days remaining on the doxycycline and 9 days remaining on the avelox. I have not engaged in any sexual activity whatsoever since my diagnosis however I still have a very mild clear mucus discharge primarily in the morning; the penile itching and dysuria has abated.

I have had a round of Avelox a few weeks ago and recently Omnicef 600mg/day for 10 days and still have discharge. Question, wouldn't these antibiotics be affective against NGU, Chlamydia or Gonnorrhea? Thanks for the help.

t end up with avelox but took leavaquin that is a kin of avelox and six days later ended up having respiratory failure and in the hospital for 3 months one of which I was in icu on a ventilator.Since then I have had widespread muscular pain and multiple tendonitis as well as other issues so I don't agree that these antibiotics don't have side effects maybe you should read up more about the new black box warnings.

After trying Doxy, Azithromycin, and Flagyl, the only antibiotic that finally worked was Avelox. The question now is what I should treat my partner with. I know from my experience that my NGU was passed sexually, and she needs to get treated before we can have sex again. The problem, is that she said she is allergic to Avelox. Another problem, is that since it is NGU, we cannot test to confirm if the bacteria is cured, and she is also asymptomatic.

If the tendonitis is due to Avelox then yes, it can be treated as usual. The pain and inflammation will subside once the medication leaves the body completely. This may take a week. This is treated with NSAIDs, rest and orthotics or specially designed foot wear to ease the pressure off the tendon. Take care!

My dad is 81 and has chronic pseudomonas infection in his lungs. He also has COPD. This is his 4th round of getting this infection in 3 years. He just got out of the hospital from a 5 day stay 3 weeks ago and did a 10 day pick line antibiotic. His Dr called today and he still has the infection. They are calling it a 4+ pseudomonas infection. (whatever that means). He has done every antibiotic there is (pill form, nebulizer, inhalers and pick line) for this and nothing is working anymore.

I couldnt sleep the pain was so bad =( till i went to a diffrent DR and he took a swab of my ear and it come back saying that i had (pseudomonas) i didnt know what to think.....so the DR give me a script for CIPROX hc 500 tablets and ear drops ..within 2weeks the infection was gone =).........

Took Cipro and the sinus pain was not improved so that was follwed by a course of Avelox where I ended up in the ER by day 7 on it [couldn't walk on my own needed IV fluids]. Off it for a week now and still really tired, various nerve pain, joint pain, muscle fatigue...seems to cycle, weak and dizzy, some blurred vision but it's all better than it had been just seems it should be gone since the meds are out of my system.

I have been a patient at your facility in January, 2009, but no treatment was given to get rid of my pseudomonas. I really want this to be cured and know there has to be a way to cure it, even if it is a clinical trial. I am a 56 year old female. I started having issues with my ears in aug. 2013, started with them just feeling "full", then it turned into me having retracted ear drums... I went to see an ENT (after MANY) attempts to have my normal Dr. Figure out what was going on, and many courses of antibiotics. ENT did hearing test, looked in my ears, confirmed ear drums were retracted, and I got more antibiotics... This went on for 7 mths....

I take care of a quad male that has a trach in place. His sputum had tested positive for MRSA, pseudomonas, and trichomonas. I had no idea you could get and std in your sputum and i'm even more curious to find out how that happened. Is that really a possibility and how could he have gotten it in his sputum?

I got fed up with him and left him after he disclosed all my personal info to my dad. I found a new doc and I asked her if it was possible and she said yes and as a matter of fact she wanted to find out what it was.

also been on the avelox a week now and still have a week to go, but infection is just getting worse. have been making sure not to take any dairy or other minerals with it, 8 hrs before or 4 hrs after taking it. doc told me to take my omeprazole every day for my acid reflux (which i haven't had any problems with in quite a while) because she thought my acid reflux might be causing all of this to be worse and making my asthma flare up.

Welcome -- I don't know about Pseudomonas, andn as mojo says, that's something your doc will have to speak to, and I would put in a call and tell the person on the phone what's going on so they can advise you sooner rather than later. The nice dark, moist sinuses are definitely areas where fungal or bacterial infections can hide and multiply, and the sooner you get it sorted out the better.

Is there anything else that I can do in treating the pseudomonas. I wake up every morning full of congestion in my chest and cough for about 2 hrs in the morning and then through out the day. It is a productive cough. This discussion is related to <a href='/posts/show/283055'>Pseudomonas</a>.
