macrobid and avelox...these are the ones she used that gave her urtica or hives and she had to get on prednisone etc. When she went to get bactrum as prescribed by a gynecologist, the pharmacist told her she was allergic to sulfa family drugs so not to take it. When she takes clindomycin or other antibiotics, even with taking some acidopholis, for tooth issues, she gets diarrhea after taking about the 3rd pill. This is not an allergy...we know...it is just a side effect of that drug.
According to U.S.D.A. apparently yes, there are traces of antibiotics in the flesh and eggs from poultry. Their studies show no observable effect ( no acute effect for allergies and no chronic effects for cancer and other diseases)
I personally do not accept industry or gov't studies at face value.

You probably should be talking to your sons doctor or pharmacist and ask if it is ok that he takes the prevacid when he has an allergy to penicillin. A lot can also depend on the type of reaction he gets from the penicillin as well. So my advice would be just to call up your pharmacist or doctor and ask. However penicillin allergy itself is very dangerous. Even if it causes mild reaction at the first dose, subsequent doses’ cumulative anaphylaxis is itself life threatening. Today there are many alternatives to penicillin.

Actually, I would avoid any product that has mold on it, mold, as you know, it a precursor to penicillin, and to be on the safe side, I would just avoid it. The doctor writes a script for the lab to do some blood draws, and then they test the blood for certain allergens, I believe it is called the RAST test, I had one, I could not believe all I was allergic too. I had an acute allergic reaction on Jan. 2, 2008 to Penicillin, my hands swelled and were burning . I was hospitalized and given intervenous steroids. she sent me to the asthma and allergy clinic where i was tested for 27 diff allergies all negative for. my nose was bleeding and i had a fever, 2 days after finishing levaquin. asthma clinic sent me for a cat scan of my head which showed a horrible infection in my sinuses. coughing was out of control. they put me on a 2 wk regimen of avelox. i am not having any side effects from it, but infection continues to get worse. at this point i feel no end in sight for this infection.

My dermatologist prescribed Augmentin 1g for 14 days for syphilis. I found out 4 days ago, both VDRL and FTA-ABS tests (IgG pos, IgM neg) confirmed that I do have a syphilis infection, and I was possibly infected 5 years ago( am I way past the secondary stage? possibly latent?). The dermatologist says that Augmentin should work, but I'm worried.
I will continue with the oral Augmentin, and re-test to see if it is working, but what are the chances it will?
For many years I have pains that pop up for no reason in joints and muscles and last for usually three to six months and then vanish. I get rashes and tiny red spots on my shins and then clear up.
