Avelox and joint pain

Common Questions and Answers about Avelox and joint pain

avelox

All over twitching with misc muscle fatigue, muscle pain, other pain and fatigue and sensations in the presence of normal blood tests and MRI seems to be astonishingly common, as evident on this list and aboutBFS.com (go there for moral support). No one seems to know much about it, and the various suspected triggers all seem pretty speculative.
Off it for a week now and still really tired, various nerve pain, joint pain, muscle fatigue...seems to cycle, weak and dizzy, some blurred vision but it's all better than it had been just seems it should be gone since the meds are out of my system. I'm also dehydrated for no reason [drinking lots of water and electrolytes, no caffeine, no fever, no vomiting,etc.]. Unable to function normally, doctor doesn't seem to care or have any explanation.
IGM and joint pain? Yes. I really believe it is the IGM because I've never had this kind of pain in my joints before being diagnosed with IGM or when on antibiotics. Also, my doctor did a rheumatoid arthritis blood test and it can back negative. I'm 57 and have aches and pains sometimes but this is much, much different. I have also lost a fair amount of hair. I asked my doctor about that and she said fighting infection could absolutely cause hair loss. Argh...
I still have the twitches which seem to be increasing, plus mederate to severe joint pain and fatigue. Babesiosis was treated with antibiotics. I have also been treated with Levaquin and Avelox for sinus infections. Could the twitches and pain be due to Babesiosis or antibiotics? I am in my forties but now feel like an old aching lady! Thank you!
There have been black box warnings added to the labels of these antibiotics last year regarding tendon ruptures and ligament and joint pain. The tests usually come back negative. The med. community doesn't look for this sort of problem; they just don't acknowledge it. Check out these websites: www.fqresearch.org www.fluoroquinolones.org When they tell you nothing is wrong and that you're crazy, then you'd better start researching it on your own. good luck!
I have the same thing. The pain is debilitating. So annoying because it happens when I'm up and moving AND when I'm sitting or laying down trying to relax. The pain last anywhere from 3 seconds to 30 seconds and sometimes takes me down. It started as a shooting pain going up to my calf and now it's centralized right below my ankle bone. I had an MRI to rule out a back problem. Now I just wait. I used Advil and an ankle brace to keep the inflammation down and my ankle stable.
Also, since the surgery and a sepsis infection that nearly took my life, I get severe nerve, tendon, and joint pain after eating primarily proteins and am exhausted all the time. I am sick of always being the mystery diagnosis patient! Also, my iron and ferritin levels have been on the low end, though I take Slow FE and cook with an iron skillet. And, my Alpha 2 and Beta globulins are low now. Any feedback???
Went to my doctor and she tested me for Lyme disease, and did a sed-rate. I don't know the results yet. I'll keep updating. She thinks it's most likely just a side effect of the pregnancy. It would be nice if it is temporary and goes away when the baby is born.
I had this rt upper quadrant pain for 7 yrs and all gallbladder tests normal. Eventually had worse pain and had an open removal of galbladder( not recommended!), no stones but very immflammed. I still had pain and tests showed I had a narrowed bile duct.I had an ercp with many complications, it always happens to nurses!!I had further troubles with narrowing of the bile duct and had stents for 12 mnths.
I have been in pain for seven months, seen five doctors, had five cortisone shots and one numbing shot, and nothing worked. I finally went to a chiropractor and asked her to recommend a neurosurgeon in another town. He told me to quit smoking and get a CTA, so I did both. I haven't had a cigarette in a month, and that didn't help the butt pain.

I'd hang in there, at least until I had a chance to talk to a doc about RA factors and what might be causing your sx. Easy for me to say, I know, as I was g3 and wimped out at 23 weeks, but you've got a lot of time invested and some serious liver damage happening. Good Luck with your decision.
i can't even eat a peice of cheese or anything for that matter without pain and this pain occurs while i'm eating and doen't go away.
I believe I am have the beginnings of rheumatoid arthritis with joint pain and swelling and various symptoms. Could there be any correlation? Also, What should I do next? They didn't even listen to my chest when I went in for the bronchitis, they just assumed I had it from my symptoms. I thought that was strange. Thanks for any suggestions.
suspsected lyme and prescribed doxycycline (i'd already been on Augmentint for two months) I've had feelings of faintness and shortness of breath, burning sensations in muscles, spasticity to a degree, tighteness and pain in jaw, stiff neck, etc which doesn't seem to be improving.
I then went to a more progressive ENT in 2005 who did an ethmoidectomy (removed the sinuses from between my eyes)and I really thought my problems were over. My pain and pressure were completely gone and I felt great. Until.....the beginning of the year I started having sinus infection problems with dizzyness and feeling totally lousey. A week and a half ago I was on my 3rd sinus infection when I finally went to a friend who is a Nurse Practitioner and had her culture my sinuses.
Has anyone taken Avelox 400mg. an antibotic. I have been taking now for 7 days and it has been hell for me. About an hour after I take it, I start to get anxiety and then I start to hyperventilate. My doctor thinks it not the Avelox because he has never had a patient complain about anxiety/hyperventilation. He said just take a Xanax to help you through and tough it out.. How many Xanax do you have to take to calm down.
It took me 3 one week antibiotics to get rid of it then two months later, i started having a pain in the center of the skull above my throat... behind my palate and having bad taste and smell coming from there.... also sore throat and ear pain... i also had a mild headache on the top of my head. I went to another doctor and she said it was sinusitis..
I have had SEVERE joint pain from taking avelox. After 2 days of taking the antibiotic for a combined sinus and a mrsa staff infection, I had crippling joint & tendon pain in my knees, ankles, Achilles, shins and hips. After calling my dr. and speaking to my pharmacist, i stopped taking the medicine immediately. I made an appointment with the prescribing dr.
This new box warning via FDA is something i've been aware of for some time in patients using ciprofloxaxin, levaquin (levofloxacin), Moxifloxacin (Avelox), ofloxacin (floxin), gatifloxacin (tequin), and i'm glad it'll be highlighted on labeling, showing it's increasing incidence: risk of tendinitis and tendon rupture is further increased in those over age 60, in kidney, heart, and lung transplant recipients, and with use of concomitant steroid therapy.

This pain would intensify which would cause me to wince in pain and then release and then repeat all over again every 5-10 seconds for about a minute. This pain did not radiate anywhere but only within a specific point. Then this same stabbing sensation occurred half way up to the first knuckle of my right middle finger about 30 minutes later. Then immediately following this finger pain I felt pain in my right foot at the joint of my middle toe.
Not every night, but 1 out of 4 at least. And I do still have some pain in my right face and ear. Again, I definitely will talk to the Dr. about what I've read in the forum and I appreciate everyone's input. I hope between us all we can get relief!

Have had all blood work for reg. checks(norm),ANA(Neg),waiting on the results of 2 MRI's;1 neck, 2 head. Not sure if he had a MRA(?). went to a cardiologist and he said his heart was fine.My husband can't work with these symptoms cuz he's an officer in law enforcement.
or was watching the world through a movie projector, instead of through my own eyes and mind. Therefore, I am going to share with you all what *I* know about these phenomena, and hopefully reassure some of you that this is par for the anxiety course...it while irritating, maybe even maddening...it is totally harmless. Derealization and depersonalization are two terms that are sometimes used interchangably. Truth is, they DO vary a little bit in their presentation....
In a week, she lost the use of the muscles in her face, hands, and legs. She also had pain in the neck. She had fallen at work and we thought it was just back and neck strain from the accident. When the parathesis set in, we went to a neurologist. After a series of MRI's she told us that there was nothing wrong with her. I told her that she was crazy and went to another doc in another town and found that she in fact had Guillian-Barre Syndrome.
I have been having blurred vision, dizziness, pressure and fullness in ears and head and behind eyes, muscle weakness, joint pain, crick in neck, and severe fatigue for over a year now. Oh! also heart pounding and times where I can hear it in my head and feel it. Also deep itching sensations in my muscles that of course you can't scratch like pins and needles. Been to ENT nothing wrong with ears, been to primary doctor MRI normal. Switched Doctors because primary basically laughed at me.
Nothing has worked. Also had some joint pain in front of my right ear at the jaw joint...causing bad headaches. Also had a layer of white stuff on my tongue off and on for a month. My ENT looked scoped my throat, and said I had evidence of acid reflux damage to my vocal cords, although I don't remember having acid reflux. Said to give it a week and it should be fine. 3 weeks later, still not well... please help...
I have been having blurred vision, pressure in head and ears, dizziness, fatigue, heart racing and can hear heart pounding in head for over a year now with noise sensitivity ten times louder than it should be and no one can seem to tell me what is wrong with me.I also have joint pain and weakness.I saw an ENT and a internist and I have had an MRI that was normal and nothing wrong with my ears so they think it is basically in my head I know it is not.
