Avatar n tn For many years I have pains that pop up for no reason in joints and muscles and last for usually three to six months and then vanish. I get rashes and tiny red spots on my shins and then clear up. The rashes last about the same three to six months. I had these pains in both my shoulders at once, which almost never happens, so I thought it was my rotator cuffs going due to the work that I do.
Avatar f tn Avelox... I went yesterday and saw a lung specialist, he calmed me down and told me that i only have a little pneumonia in my lower left side it's nothing to be worried about. It's the bronchitis that's causing a lot of pain in my chest and back that I did not have prior to the antibiotics.
Avatar n tn Ask your doctor. My view is NO! A pacemaker does nothing to stop AFib and the AFib is why Coumadin is being taken.
Avatar f tn Went to urgent care and they changed the antibiotic to Avelox and also gave me steroids. I was reading about Avelox and it mentioned serious heart rhythm side effects - a rare heart called prolongation of QT interval. I am scared to death to take this. I did disclose to the doctor that I suffer from SVT but she didn't mention side effects or warnings. My question is.....has anyone had any reactions to this antibiotic?
Avatar f tn Duke University Medical Center recommended the target range of 3.0 to 3.5 for the St Jude Medical leaflet valve. I have been on it since 1993. The instability has been only the last three years or so. Here's a link to a presentation that suggests vitamin K and the logic for doing so; http://www.dcpa.us/slides09/sun05.trujillo.vitk.
Avatar f tn would the coumadin and fish oil combined be the cause of this bleeding and can fish oil alone sustain my need to thin my blood for arrythmia? I am afraid to take the coumadin again. I've been off that and the fish oil since Oct. 17.
Avatar n tn t abated, provider considered trich, and mycoplasm as possible culprits). I was also put on avelox 400 mg for 10 days as well. Avatar m tn I have had a round of Avelox a few weeks ago and recently Omnicef 600mg/day for 10 days and still have discharge. Question, wouldn't these antibiotics be affective against NGU, Chlamydia or Gonnorrhea? Thanks for the help.

Avatar m tn After trying Doxy, Azithromycin, and Flagyl, the only antibiotic that finally worked was Avelox. The question now is what I should treat my partner with. I know from my experience that my NGU was passed sexually, and she needs to get treated before we can have sex again. The problem, is that she said she is allergic to Avelox. Another problem, is that since it is NGU, we cannot test to confirm if the bacteria is cured, and she is also asymptomatic.
Avatar m tn If the tendonitis is due to Avelox then yes, it can be treated as usual. The pain and inflammation will subside once the medication leaves the body completely. This may take a week. This is treated with NSAIDs, rest and orthotics or specially designed foot wear to ease the pressure off the tendon. Take care!

The coumadin nurses frequently tell him his levels are too high and tell him to not take any coumadin for days at a time then the cardiologist tells him his INR is top low and they post pone the cardioversion.
Avatar f tn I am preparing to have an ablation to correct my afib and they want me on coumadin to prepare for it and then after. My baseline INR was .9. Not sure what I need to do. Should I take the coumadin and just let the clinic monitor the INR readings?
Avatar m tn I am a coumadin patient due to atrium enlargement, an hx of afib and 2 prosthetic valves. I also have chronic neck and back pain. Is the use of far infrared heating pads OK with coumadin? Thanks.
Avatar f tn We usually admit the patients 3 days prior to the surgery when we withhold coumadin and start heparin once the INR is less than 2.0. After surgery we usually start the heparin 12 hours after the surgery and coumadin shortly thereafter. The patient usually don't leave the hospital until their INR above 2.0. These are not hard and fast rules, and some physicians are more careful than others.

378273 tn?1262097621 I'm also an afib sufferer and have been on coumadin for 6 years and haven't experienced any excessive bleeding or bruising with it. I was pleasantly surprised with how little it changed my life. I generally undergo a PT/INR measurement every 4 to 6 weeks and there seems to be no problem maintaining an INR level between 2 and 3. I'm 67 and also run and exercise every day. I also eat salads, greens and vegetables daily and haven't had to limit my diet because of coumadin.
Avatar n tn The body has a hard time clotting the blood due to aging. Also, Coumadin is hard on the arteries and with her age her arteries may be weak or thin. Coumadin is a very strong blood thinner and has some very serious side effects such as stomach cancer. It also can cause osteoporosis. Before her doctor starts her on any blood thinner, make sure that she has blood drawn and it is proven that her blood is thick enough to require this. You also may want to seek a second opinion.

Avatar m tn t do an ablation. I am now wearing and event monitor for 30 days. I have a feeling he wants me to go on coumadin. I don't want to do that because I am very active and I am petrified of bleeding out. when I went to my accupuncturist she said she believes it is happening because of the sympathetic nerve due to the stress I have been under. I also read where taking 40mg of vitaminB6 helps the arrhythmia. What are your thoughts on my situation.
Avatar n tn She has really bad swelling in her legs, from the knees down, including her ankles and feet. Since her Coumadin dosage was doubled due to low INR levels about 6 months ago, the swelling has gotten worse. I understand that correlation is not causation, but is this common? Also, do they ever decrease one's dosage of blood thinners, or is it always the other way around.
Avatar f tn Took Cipro and the sinus pain was not improved so that was follwed by a course of Avelox where I ended up in the ER by day 7 on it [couldn't walk on my own needed IV fluids]. Off it for a week now and still really tired, various nerve pain, joint pain, muscle fatigue...seems to cycle, weak and dizzy, some blurred vision but it's all better than it had been just seems it should be gone since the meds are out of my system.
Avatar f tn I have 2 artificial heart valves and am taking coumadin (target INR 2.5 - 3.5). I am living overseas and have very limited access to fresh/frozen fish. To help regulate my INR, I do have a portable tester that works well. I'm wondering if the blood thinning effects of fish oil (if any) will be measured by my INR testing machine. In other words, will the total blood thinning effects of both coumadin and the fish oil suppliments be measured by the INR?
