My mother was diagnosed 5 years ago with CAD, CHF, COPD, and also has type II diabetes. She used to be a smoker, but quit 5 years ago. She had angioplasty with 5 stents placed in 2005. Al has been well until a few months ago. She is gaining weight, has trouble breathing, and has been experiencing some chest pains lately (Dr. gave nitro). She is on avandia and I would like to know if this could be the cause of her recent decline in health?
Yes, i was put on Avandia for Type 2 abt 5 years ago. Since then my #'s have improved with diet and exercise to the point that a new Dr. said she saw no reason for me to be on Avandia and i have since stopped useing it. It was never vy high, around 159 or so when it was diagnosed. If i am not careful of my diet it can jump up to the 130's to 140's. Am also on diovan for HBP which is usually under good control with the 1 med.
As in all cases it depends upon how advanced your liver disease is and your total health status.

I have to ponder what the dosage of Metformin would be for those who are not insulin resistant or have type 2 diabetes. My husband takes etformin for type 2 diabetes. It controls his glucose levels well and of course without it his reading are very high. Granted he takes (4) 500 mg per day. Wondering if even low doses of Metformin would make someone without IR or diabetes hypoglycemic and if not would low dose Metformin be effective is halting virus replication.

I have diabetes ll. My doctor has given me Actos 30 mg. I have been hearing a lot about this drug and none of it's good, saying long term use causes bladder cancer. My last A1c was 6.1 although now due for another one. I'm not sure the risk involved with this drug is worth the benefits as my sugar is not out of control and my numbers are always under 175. Is Actos a safe drug to use??
Some people are able to control Type 2 diabetes with losing and maintaining healthy weight, lowering carb intake and regular exercise. Some are not, and need medication. It is impossible to answer your question because every diabetic is different and it would depend on how high your numbers were to begin with and what you ate and did. Serious consequences (complications) from diabetes don't occur in 24 hours, they occur over time spent at high numbers.
I know I am insulin dependent because I cannot take my pump off except for the rare few minutes or so without my sugar sky rocketing. Now would u still call this Type 2 Diabetes or Type 1? Hearing the words Juvenile Diabetes associated with Type 1 throws me off obviously because I was not diagnosed as a juvenile. But also the words Insulin Dependent are associated with the Type 1. So I DO fit into that category.
I had type 2 diabetes before I got pregnant. I'm 8 weeks and I inject insulin twice a day. They said if I don't control my levels my baby will be too overweight . any suggestions besides eating right and exercising? Is anyone else experiencing this?
