Common Questions and Answers about Aural rehab therapy ideas

rehab

Avatar m tn A blood pocket on the ear flap, called an aural hematoma, will heal on its own as long as the dog leaves it alone and doesn't mess with it. When aural hematomas heal on their own, however, it almost always leaves the ear flap shriveled and kind of deformed-looking. The best option is to have the vet perform a minor surgery to remove the hematoma, this way the tissues can remain the way they are supposed to and the ear flap itself will not be compromised.
Avatar f tn Well I leave Thursdays to do an inpatient detox and rehab. After several surgeries I became dependent on oxycodone 15mg 5xday. When I first realized I was addicted I tried to ct and ended up passing out due to my Bp dropping. Then I decided to taper but my dr stopped that as well because they said I needed to have a 3rd back surgery even tho my last one was in April. I'm not walking correctly, kinda hunched over.
Avatar m tn Waiting for biopsy results, especially a whole week, is hard. I know. End of February my dog is scheduled for a lumpectomy (breast) and I can imagine how I'll feel, waiting for the results, so I understand. I can't give you any real good clues I'm afraid, about the type of lump or swelling he has in his ear. Others may have some ideas. When you say it flaked away, do you mean the whole thing did....or that there was dry flaky skin on top of it?
Avatar n tn The facilities he has been in specialize in brain injuries and he receives 6-8 hours of therapy each day - physical therapy, occupational therapy, vision therapy, neurocognitive therapy, and speech therapy as well as sessions with neuropyschiatrists and psychologists. It's working. And I see miracles being worked at that facility every day.
Avatar n tn The lump that you are describing is consistent with an aural hematoma, which is an accumulation of blood between the skin and cartilage of the ear. In some cases, removal of the blood by syringe can be helpful, but in many cases the blood just fills up again, and in these cases surgery is usually required to prevent recurrence of the hematoma. Untreated, the blood will slowly be resorbed by the body, leaving a crinkled, scarred ear.
Avatar f tn to physical therapy, through chiropractor and acupuncture treatment...White the pain injections, chiropractor and acupuncture helps and all only helps temporary. I am wondering if bearing the pain and doing exercises to strengthen my neck and shoulders would be a better solutions on helping my pain long term.

Avatar n tn We are in TX and found that the outpatient rehab that was affiliated with the inpatient rehab hospital that my husband was in had water therapy.
Avatar f tn I am not feeling well at all, but as gnarly says you need to feel ok with just being ok. I am receiving lots and lots of therapy here in rehab and learning to re learn myself, if that makes any sense? My emotions are all over the board and all i do is cry.
Avatar m tn She finally admitted that she was hooked and needed help. We got her into a rehab center to hopefully get off them, so we can save our marriage. It is just as hard on me with her not being here becasue she is my best friend and we had our routine of drinking coffee and talking about anything that we want, and it was so depressing to wake up and not see my best friend laying next to me. I was wondering what it is like in rehab.
Avatar f tn After going home from the inpatient rehab center, is it necessary to follow up with visiting the the outpatient rehab center regularly or just continue at home the rehab exercise which be taught at rehab center?
317822 tn?1223241475 I must have been in a decent rehab, because when I was in 20 years ago (for alcohol and drugs) I liked it so much that I didn't want to leave....truth. When I walked through the doors I felt like the weight of the world had been lifted from my shoulders. They will keep you comfortable while you detox then they will get you up and your days will be quite full.....group therapy, individual therapy, classes, journaling and meetings (AA and/or NA). You'll also have some free time.
Avatar f tn I think it can take several weeks. Stay with it, don't give up! Vestibular rehab can often work really well. Hopefully you are seeing a PT who SPECIALIZES in vestibular rehab and has had special courses in it such as the Herdman course or others. Good luck!
Avatar m tn Back again after relapsing again after a week clean longest I've ever made it before going back I guess that's a very small victory. My wife doesn't know I relapsed again, but the subject of why I hadn't checked into rehab did. I feel like I need some sort of maintenance, due in the least to my chronic pain. Are these options that will be offered to me in rehab? I just don't see a scenario where I succeed on my own, but I have too.
82861 tn?1333453911 Are there any plans in the works for a physical therapy forum? As a veteran of numerous orthopedic surgeries and rehab, I would love to see some kind of expert or even patient-to-patient forum on rehab issues. Surgery is only one step in recovering from an orthopedic injury. The rest of the "cure" is up to the patient's willingness to endure the pain of rehab which is often overlooked by the surgeons themselves.
Avatar m tn The length of recovery depend on age, general health of the patient, location and size of the meningioma. I would suggest you to opt for physical and occupational therapy to reduce these impairments. Also please be sure to inform your doctor incase a new symptom appears.
Avatar f tn How is it that therapy is suppose to help you deal with why you used when all therapy does is make me want to use? I have been able to numb all my emotional feelings through opiates, even though my pills were used and prescribed for all my surgeries, it was my outlet, as sick as this sounds, hearing the words another surgery was like a free pass to opiates. Then of course it lead to my opiate abuse.
Avatar n tn My 49 year old brother had a massive left hemisphere stroke last August, leaving him paralyzed on the right side and he has made great progress with various modes of walking therapy. He now walks without any aids, albeit slowly and with difficulty. He does walk on a treadmill as part of his therapy and studies are showing that it's excellent for improving the gait to a more normal pattern.
Avatar f tn It was so bad that I had to cut the therapy short a week. The only good thing about the inpatient rehab center was that it did give my husband a good start on his recovery. I think that's all it was for...to continue care until he can get stronger to do out patient therapy. After my husband was out of the inpatient rehab center he was sent to a HealthSouth Out Patient center. They were wonderful.
Avatar f tn Ask your therapists for therapies that do not require physical movement like mental imagery, mirror-box therapy, thermal therapy, music therapy, passive movement. If they do not know of these they are way behind in keeping up with research. Good luck.
Avatar m tn So I can no longer afford to see the doctor or go to physical therepay. So Im doing my own rehab of my sholder, but still in great deal of pain. My question is any ideas for controlling the pain, was taking 4 to 5 hydrocodone/apap 5mg/500mg a day for over a year (only thing that consitently worked). Since I cant see the doctor anymore no more prescription. Ive tried alot of other things, but any ideas would be apprciated. Thank you all.
Avatar f tn She is a good girl, has a lot going for her, but I think the addiction to Pain meds has drawn her like a moth to a flame.....any ideas on what will likely happen from here? I know what she did is wrong, and she is willing to start going to some therapy, but doesn't want her family to know. Thanks so much!

Avatar f tn it's been a year since my mom had a stroke, she is in a rehab, but they aren't doing any rehab because they first said she was not responsive enough because she is not able to speak because her tongue is still swollen, she is still unable to speak but she do understand, I had her to write her name, she combs her hair, she will blink once for yes and twice for no, when I question the rehab staff about rehab now they tell me she had exhausted all of her rehab, I don't understand how th
