anyone else have side effects AFTER STOPPING augmentin after the full 10 day dose? I have been off for two days and have awful sweating and hot flashes. I am male, and in relatively good shape. bp has been in the 140/70 range for three days. odd stuff. Ive usually had plain ole amoxicillin, but this stuff takes the cake.
Below is copied from Dr Burrascano's treatment guidelines for Lyme (posted on the ILADS website), including an entry on doxycycline [aka doxy] dosage:
"Adults: 200 mg bid [meaning twice a day] with food; doses of up to 600 mg daily are often needed, as doxycycline is only effective at high blood levels." So perhaps your doc's doses are on the light side -- I'd ask him, but sometimes docs get huffy. I'd ask him anyway. It's your health we're talking about.
Yes, I had one day fever 100.5 and very sore throat and developed full blown cold but fever I suspect was symptom for inflammation coming on. Because following mild neck/back/ shoulder pains, I was attacked with unbelievable painful locked shoulder joint which I believe was delayed adverse reaction from Augmentin. Never will take it again although I had it before and didn't have problem then.
I was prescribed augmentin for a sinus infection and I had no side effects while taking it. I finished it 4 days ago. Starting yesterday afternoon I had clay colored stool. I thought it would pass, but it hasn't. I have very slight stomach cramps. Is this normal and my body is just recovering from the antibiotic or should I be concerned?
Also, the infection has been treated with numerous antibiotics (amoxicillin, flagyl, omnicef, augmentin, clindamycin), and all seem to help at first, but only clindamycin has lasting effects. Not even augmentin worked. Any idea on what kind of bacteria would respond to clindamycin but not augmentin?
I saw my PA today and we concluded that most of my symptoms at this point are probably Babesia and side effects of Malarone. She didn't put me on Mepron because it has to be taken with Zithromax, which I can't take because of another med I am on. She gave me another scrip for a med I've never heard of, Alinia, to take along with Malarone. But get this, my insurance only authorized 20 days worth, not the 30 that was prescribed. I don't know why.
Hi i just went to the Dr today ans she put me on anxiety meds and a anti depressent.She told me one of the side effects is suicidal thoughts,has anyone ever experienced this? i havnt taken it yet cause that scares me!!! I stay home with my 2 little boys and i dont want to have those thoughts and its just making my anxiety worse thinking about it.Please help!!

It may be Augmentin or it may be something else. I think you should mention this to your doctor.
My condition did not improve, but did not get worse. Thus, I was put on Cipro (twice a day). After two days of treatment, I developed side effects to the Cipro (muscle and joint pain). I was taken off the Cipro and was put on Augmentin (twice a day) for 21 days, which I began taking today. My urologist advised me that if the Augmentin does not work, then there is not a whole lot he can do to improve my condition given that there are no other antibiotics that could be helpful.
Drug side effects can occur years later which is why you see many drugs being pulled of the market. Clinical trials run for an average of 8 weeks on healthy adults.
Plavix side effects:

My doctor recently put me on a combination of drugs for PEP, the drugs are lamzid and efavirenz and have very serious side effects. My exposure was licking/sucking a nipple of a non-pregnant HIV positive person. No milk came or blood came out but just had an after taste in my mouth. The act was for 2-3 seconds. What are my chances of getting HIV and are the reported cases of infection in adults, cause I know with babies you can.
Augmentin will affect your pill. The other one I do not know about. It probably takes a couple of days for the antiboitics to get out of your system. You might wanna use a second form of protection just in case.

I don't see much that would describe your son's behavior here, but if he's taking other meds on top of this one, there could be a reaction.
