Avatar n tn They placed a rod in the tibia and did nothing with the fibula. Now I have a staph infection. I was put on augmentin and now the doctor says the results of the culture will not be accurate. Is there any way I can find out for sure if the infection is in the bone or has contaminated the rod? My doctor wants to do surgery to replace the rod.
Avatar f tn First complaint of pain from the area in 2005. Hospitalized for two weeks for this emergency. Coumadin was taken for 4 years to prevent blood clotting. What am I left to do? My health has not been favorable and I need answers. Could there be something that I am not being told??? I don't have HIV or any other immune decreasing infections. The pus filled sores started on my leg on 9/11 and were thought to be nothing but a rash with pain. It has spread to the left cheek/jaw line.
Avatar n tn My Dr has treated me with Metronidazole- brand name used was flagyl Nylstatin for yeast, clamycin, spandnox (for yeast), and recently had some relief with Augmentin(which was prescribed for a chest infection). When i was on augmentin all the above symptoms went away however came back 1 or 2 days after i came off the anti biotic.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone else has taken Augmentin. I was prescribed it for a double ear infection. Originally I was given acetic acid drops but they aren't working. I plan on calling my OB in the morning to double check. They are pregnancy category B. Although they are thought to be safe not many studies have been done on them. I'm nervous about everything. This is my first pregnancy and I am only 18. Thank you!!
Avatar n tn So, yes your rash in the photo looks like chiggers to me too but could be something else (or part of the Staph infection). Maybe some of the Staph infection is probably resistant to some antibiotics and that is why it keeps coming back. You may want to get another culture. As for the Lyme you need to get treated properly for this. I would see a "Lyme literate doctor" (LLMD). You can find one in your area on www.ILADS.
577106 tn?1219839345 ve been treated with vancomycin several years ago for a staph infection in my bloodstream. Was a pain the the rear, had a pic line in my arm that ran up my veins and into my heart. Had to shoot myself up with antibiotics twice a day. Hopefully your situation won't come to this, but I think it would be unwise to let it go untreated. As far as the topical nasal antibiotics, I don't know if neosporin would do the trick. I'm on mysoporcin as a prescription.
Avatar m tn Hello, Since you are having staph infection, so if your girlfriend has been diagnosed with staph infection then chances are there that the infection got transmitted during physical contact like sexual contact or skin to skin contact. It is very surprising that the infection has not shown much results with antibiotics, In such cases, it is advisable to get the culture sample from the sores and a biopsy skin done which will confirm the diagnosis.
Avatar m tn Several months ago i started to have a mild acne on my forehead, I did some exams and came out positive for staph aureus infection and staph epidermidis in two different labs. I took a treatment with antibiotics called ofloxacin 400 mg for ten days, my tests showed to be sensible to this drug. During the treatment the acne almost vanished but after i stopped it the situation was as bad as always.
250701 tn?1320974765 My kids always got diarrhea on augmentin. I hope your tummy is doing well. Did he test your sputum for a bacterial infection? I wouldn't take an antibiotic called in without being sure I had one. Feel better.
Avatar n tn t yet developed the infection, as would be indicated by the presence of a lesion or a positive blood test, than it takes for curative treatment. The augmentin taken twice daily for two weeks would certainly cure and prevent development of syphilis. The combination of cefixime and azithromycin would most probably prevent infection but it would not be curative if the infection was established.
Avatar f tn t know whether the underlying infection was staph, or it was just a secondary infection (since every culture was sterile), but somehow, something, responded to longterm antibiotics. Bactrim is often used to treat serious staph infections.
Avatar f tn 4 days on augmentin 825 for a chronic dental infection (now a bone infection), I started having major swelling in my hands. This is new, I've never had swelling like this. Yesterday my one hand looked freakishly red and swollen. It was so swollen, that when I straightened out my hand (which was difficult), everything turned white, inbetween the redness. Anyway, I tried going off the augmentin (I'm taking it in conjunction with clindamycin), and today I feel much less swollen.
Avatar m tn My dermatologist said that I will basically have a staph infection forever and will have to treat is as needed. Is this a proper diagnosis? Why can't I get rid of it? I have already tried antibiotics and other drugs that have helped for a while but it comes back.
Avatar n tn I had a break out in my mouth last week and by Friday I had a sore on the bottom of my foot that woke me up because of the pain shooting up my leg. Went to doctor and he thinks it is a staph infection put me on antibodic and gave me a shot. Told me if it got worse to go to hospital. I have had these same sores for over 8 years and repeated upper respiratory infections.
Avatar n tn There is no other medical conditions or medication that he is taking at this time expect for The medication for the staph infection, sulfameth/trimethoprim.
Avatar f tn Well, your results will be interesting. You can have an infection that isn't MRSA or staph. My only experience with staph was my son who did get a nasty staph infection from a small rug burn type of injury on his leg at school. He bandaged it himself after showing it to me and I didn't really worry about it. A week later, wowza. It was a festering crater. We went to the doctor who gave a topical antibiotic cream.

Avatar m tn So a few weeks ago I got this big boil on my waist that was like an ingrown hair and eventually after about a week went away on its own. You could still see discoloration there but there's no bump and no more pain. However, now I have one on my butt and it's almost the same thing. So I went to the doctor and they told me that it's a bad staph infection and they prescribed me Bactrim. Before I took it the boil was very painful and it hurt to even sit down.
Avatar m tn Sorry it took so long to get back to you, but we have been on a series of Septra and Augmentin since I posted. I took him the same day. Doc was thinking the same thing, sebaceous cyst, staph infection, or some other type of infection. So, we have been giving anti's and it seems to be going away. Again, thank you so much for replying. I have never been here before, but I certainly will return. Ya'll have a great day!
