Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with sinus infection about 3 weeks ago. I took augmentin 875mg/twice a day for 7 days. The symptom went away after taking the med, and it just came back again after 7 days. Please help....!
Avatar f tn I've been on antibiotics 3 X, every time I'm done, infection comes back, even after tooth extraction. Please see details below, I need your opinion. Thank You... Started with Left sore throat, then Gum Pain & hard white painful bump near #17 wisdom tooth. Got severe, hard to swallow, chew, painful. My reg. Dentist Rx'd Amoxicillin - took 6 days to start working. After swelling went down, did x-ray, he could not find any problem -tooth not abcessed.
Avatar f tn I was put on Amoxicillin and a root canal was performed on June 23, two days later an incision was made in the gum to clean out some of the infection, the next day a small hole was made in the upper gum to try and drain some of the infection. On July 1st I was sent to an oral surgeon who did a panoramic of my face and there was infection the size of a walnut up into my sinus. He put me on Augmentin and on July 8th he pulled the tooth.
Avatar m tn I had 2 doses of augmentin yesterday to help clear the infection. And the soft tissue of the gum that was really swollen has seemed like it went down a little.
Avatar f tn I am in the midst of phase I of a reconstruction of my teeth due to bruxism and/or TMJ. After the 4 hr. appt to prepare my upper teeth for the impressions, my dentist decided to fix a problematic tooth not specified in the phase I project. He found I needed a root canal, which he did. During the procedure, he said my "devital" tooth had abscessed and he worked on that.
Avatar n tn That definitely sounds like a fungal infection. I've had a sinus infection and ear infection for well over a month now. It was so bad that I was going to the doctor daily for IV antibiotics. I was sent to the ENT who suctioned my ear and found I had a fungal infection. My ear drum also had a small perforation which affected my hearing some. He had me continue with the antibiotics and gave me eardrops. The eardrops smelled like vinegar and burned.
Avatar n tn My Dr has treated me with Metronidazole- brand name used was flagyl Nylstatin for yeast, clamycin, spandnox (for yeast), and recently had some relief with Augmentin(which was prescribed for a chest infection). When i was on augmentin all the above symptoms went away however came back 1 or 2 days after i came off the anti biotic.
Avatar n tn The specialist has prescribed Augmentin 625 Mg but said that he will send my samples for further tests and that if the condition (after further tests ) requires any specific medication then they will let me know. Also the specalist had mentioned from the initial tests that he did not feel it was an STD from the 'pus count' but that he could not say for sure. This was after about 20 minutes of having taken my sample. Still awaiting further results.
Avatar n tn At the time of testing, they put me on a z-pac because of possible sinus infection. Yesterday they started me on 875mg Augmentin twice a day for 10 days. Yesterday I had something new in where I am experiancing some groin discomfort (approx. 2in above the left testicle). It isn't painful and comes and goes. So my questions are: What should my concerns be? Would any of the STD blood work or swab show anything at all after 6 days? Are any of my symptoms valid for STD's?
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone else has taken Augmentin. I was prescribed it for a double ear infection. Originally I was given acetic acid drops but they aren't working. I plan on calling my OB in the morning to double check. They are pregnancy category B. Although they are thought to be safe not many studies have been done on them. I'm nervous about everything. This is my first pregnancy and I am only 18. Thank you!!
Avatar m tn Days after a fistula appeared on the gum and I suffered massive head pain as the infection drained. However the infection persists. Had tooth x-rays, CAT scans, MRI s, seen a dozen doctors, dentists , ENTs. Nobody believes me. I know I'm sick, I know my body (been in it for over 60 years) Sometimes feel near death.
250701 tn?1320974765 My kids always got diarrhea on augmentin. I hope your tummy is doing well. Did he test your sputum for a bacterial infection? I wouldn't take an antibiotic called in without being sure I had one. Feel better.
Avatar n tn t yet developed the infection, as would be indicated by the presence of a lesion or a positive blood test, than it takes for curative treatment. The augmentin taken twice daily for two weeks would certainly cure and prevent development of syphilis. The combination of cefixime and azithromycin would most probably prevent infection but it would not be curative if the infection was established.
Avatar f tn 4 days on augmentin 825 for a chronic dental infection (now a bone infection), I started having major swelling in my hands. This is new, I've never had swelling like this. Yesterday my one hand looked freakishly red and swollen. It was so swollen, that when I straightened out my hand (which was difficult), everything turned white, inbetween the redness. Anyway, I tried going off the augmentin (I'm taking it in conjunction with clindamycin), and today I feel much less swollen.
Avatar m tn The bacteria of the gum infection seemed very resistant and virulent for that gum infection has not receded 9 days after taking the antibiotics. I am only afraid that if I stopped continuing with the antibiotics, the gum infections would become worse. I could be near the point of losing my teeth.
Avatar m tn I should add that I was prescribed Augmentin at the same time post operatively for a knee arthroscope and wondered whether this could interfere with the efficacy of the azithromycin?
Avatar f tn I also have a very sensitive gum area when brushing on my lower gum. Could my teeth be the culprit? I tested positive IGM for Lyme disease and 2 bands were reactive. But the doctor said this could be a false positive because my IGG is not elevated, it's negative. I am going to go see an ID advised from the doctor I work for. I'm currently on augmentin and it's not doing much. My WBC are not elevated at this time and other labs seem WNL. I just feel so worn down.
Avatar f tn I was taken off clindamycin mid-treatment (I was feeling dramatically better, but was taken off it before infection was totally gone for blood tests) and am now trying to play catch-up, back on it and augmentin at the same time. Thanks!
Avatar f tn This was my second pregnancy. I have since developed a bacterial infection vaginally. My doc prescribed Metronidazole for that, and two days later I had a horrible fever and chills all night long (which I thought was a side effect of the Metronidazole) and my right breast was horribly red and really sore! I also had a cramp in the right side ovary. I went back to the doc, for the ovary pain (thinking the breast thing would resolve itself I stupidly didn't mention it to him).
Avatar m tn so I took my STD test but before I got the result I panicked thinking of gonorrhea or syphilis and took Augmentin for 3 days. Now the tests are all negative but considering the window period for some STD, should I finish taking Augmentin as a precaution to get rid of the possible infection? Thank you.
Avatar f tn Hi, Iam 12wks pregnant. I was given augmentin sr tablets to treat a sinus infection. The doc said it's safe but I am scared to take it.
Avatar n tn put him on Amoxycillin due to a possible sinus infection. He also had bloodwork done and his T4 and TSH came at borderline. He responded to the Amox. for a few days and the headaches returned. This time they put him on Augmentin for "persistent" sinus infection. He finished his dosage with no improvement. He was put on Augmentin again and also started having redness and infection in his left eye.
Avatar f tn Your suspicions are correct with the Augmentin. If you have a viral infection, it will do nothing for it. Here's the problem. If you have a viral tonsillitis, it will get better on its own in time (about the same time that was quoted for the Augmentin!). But you are also taking Augmentin. So, won't it be tempting to say that the Augmentin is what made you better? We'll never know.
Avatar f tn My wisdom tooth was in the lower right side and growing lying down in the gum.(like a T for example, the line stands for how my widsom tooth was growing into the top of the T. So I have the whole present as well, but I noticed that part of the wisdom tooth still appears to be there and its very painful just to barely touch it,seems partly broken. Should I be concerned, Should this bony parts/chipped tooth parts be removed or will gum just grow over and this be fine.
Avatar f tn If I were your treating dentist, I would look for other potential source of infection. In the mean time, if augmentin and clindamycin are not effective, I would try erythromycin family drug, such as azithromycin or clarithromycin , paired with metronidazole(flagyl). If itis possible, antibiotic sensitivity test can be done in the lab to determine which antibiotic is most effective for the cultured bacteria. Hope this helps.
