Augmentin and tooth discoloration

Common Questions and Answers about Augmentin and tooth discoloration

augmentin

Avatar n tn My gums in the rest of my mouth have become very sore as well. Im on Augmentin, but wondering if I could get this tooth pulled?
Avatar f tn It doesnt look like its receeding and it doesnt have any odd discoloration, just looks normal but detatched. My sister says that she had something like her gums detatching just to make room for adjustments on the new tooth. Is my gum just detatched to help me make my wisdom teeth to move better? Is it going to reattach later on?
Avatar m tn Anyways, the dentist is recommending root canal and says that if we leave this tooth untouched, it can spread infection, and may affect the tooth which will grow in the next set. He claims that he can perform root canal without local anesthesia since it is dead tooth after all, and root canal won't cause pain. I am not sure whether root canal is the way to go. Mainly because - 1. The dentist never took X-ray 2. I am not convinced that root canal won't cause any pain 3.
Avatar f tn Hello I have severe pain under my crown, my gums are swollen around the crown and are also sore, the most extreme pain I've ever had with a tooth. I had some augmentin on hand which I started taking today, can't see dentist until tues. Does anyone know what this is? Please help. Started yesterday, so today is my second day with this pain. Also have slight swelling in my cheek.

Avatar f tn Its great that you took your child to a pediatric dentist. A pediatric dentist is specially trained to work with children and as it is his first visit, will ensure that the visit will go as smoothly as possible. Its a great way to get your son use to seeing a dentist. A pulpotomy is when the dentist will numb your child's tooth and remove the pulp of the tooth on the top part.
Avatar n tn For 2 months now, I have had earaches, pain in upper teeth, pain in the jaw, pain in temple, pain along bridge of nose, pain under eye and above brow. I've had a full doseof augmentin and had exrays on upper teeth. I'm living on aleve or ibuprofen. Please help me.
Avatar f tn Discoloration could be the sign of failure of root canal treatment but then there are other more prominent signs which might help you reach a conclusion. Signs like swelling, discomfort and discoloration are pretty much prominent in such a case and so should be examined by a dentist immediately. This condition usually arises when the cleaning aspect of the tooth's procedure is incomplete or there is deterioration of the seal, which is usually because of extensive decay or gum disease.
Avatar n tn The dentist said to take antibiotics for a week and then come back for him to re-do the root canal and *try* to save this tooth. The pain continued for several days and now I have a horrible ear infection (but on the ear on the other side). I am now on 4000 mg of Augmentin for the ear w/ruficin (sp) shot as well. I am in horrible pain ~ My question is should I try to get an emergency extraction of the tooth that is black and hurting? Can the tooth be the cause of the ear infection?
Avatar f tn Is there anything my dentist can do to prep the underlying tooth, masking the discoloration and preventing it from showing through the new crown? Also, is an all porcelain crown the best option given this circumstance? I do not want another porcelain over fused metal crown as my experience has been that they eventually show dark lines at the gum margin.
Avatar n tn You should start to see improvement by day 4. They will not extract an abcessed tooth and this is why they have you on an antibiotic and a medication to make the abcess start draining. Patience is needed right now, you'll be okay. Take care.
Avatar f tn 6 days ago I had my lower left molars removed, for teeth total. I had a massive tooth infection that swelled my face really substantially. Antibiotics didn't even take the swelling down. I received nerve damage from the infection causing paresthesia in my chin and lower lip. The extraction was done after a month of antibiotics and went off without a hitch. I had minimal pain and swelling from the procedure and seem to be healing well except for a couple of things.
Avatar f tn Tonight is the first time in almost one month that the tooth has quieted down. I was on levaquin and then Augmentin and no help. Amoxicillan 500 seems to be doing soemthing. I am glad to learn how improtant ^7 is. Thank You for the link. I am going there now. I need to talk with your father. This is my 5th implant. Hubby says no more. Thank you so much.
Avatar n tn ve googled and see that some potential causes are cellulitis, hypothyroidism, tooth abscess, allergies, trauma, infections, inflammation, I think lupus?, and cancer. I have had some recent dental issues (infection, teeth pulled, roots left too long after a tooth fell out). Has anyone had this? So weird. I mean, I guess I should assume it's from the dental stuff, but I just had another panoramic xray, and the dentist said everything was fine.
Avatar f tn I did wisdom tooth extraction surgery for lower left tooth , from second day to forth day l had swelling , the swelling now is recovered , but now( sixth day ) l totice a yellow discoloration on my face at left lower part of my jaw also l feel pain when l make pressure on it , can anyone help me and tell me any idea for treat this condition ? Avatar f tn Ive gotten it about 3-4 years ago and its been getting loose. Today it fell out and it has a bad smell and discoloration on my tooth. It doesnt hurt at all, its just black and it could be chipped.Since im on vacation i dont know what i should do.
Avatar f tn Previously a normal healthy person, 7 months ago I had "vital nerve exposure" during a routine filling and required my first root canal a few days later. The tooth remained sensitive/sore afterwards, especially to hot and cold. 3 months later, same tooth started hurting terribly, and felt 'hot.' Endodontist said it was infected. With the infection I also developed low fever and malaise.
Avatar m tn mature tooth grew 2 years later ( there was a delay compared to other tooth actually).. Regarding the yellowish discoloration of the same tooth, i only notice it last year (age 23)..which was exactly 2 months after removing braces.. Initially dr. suspected that it was a non-vital tooth..on my next visit she mentioned it could be PCO as the radiograph finding not very suggestive of non-vital tooth..i'm just so confused about the next step for management..
Avatar n tn t know if that is appropriate for a tooth infection? I also now have a strange itching on lower arms and all along my jaw line that is spreading each day. Not red, except when I itch. More like a goosebump feeling that doesn't go away. Is that possibly from the tooth problem? Afraid my doc is tired of me calling...and there solution seems to be to just prescribe stronger antibiotics each time which I oppose.
Avatar n tn My 3 yr old bumped her tooth three weeks ago and now the tooth has turned black. I took her to the dentist and she suggested a pulpectomy....like a mini-root canal. Has anyone heard of this? Seems drastic for a baby tooth.
Avatar n tn I notice my cheek has a dark discoloration on it after having a back tooth pulled. Doesn’t look like a bruise. It’s been 2 months. Will it go away?
Avatar f tn I am in the midst of phase I of a reconstruction of my teeth due to bruxism and/or TMJ. After the 4 hr. appt to prepare my upper teeth for the impressions, my dentist decided to fix a problematic tooth not specified in the phase I project. He found I needed a root canal, which he did. During the procedure, he said my "devital" tooth had abscessed and he worked on that.
Avatar m tn Had the offending tooth pulled in 2010. Days after a fistula appeared on the gum and I suffered massive head pain as the infection drained. However the infection persists. Had tooth x-rays, CAT scans, MRI s, seen a dozen doctors, dentists , ENTs. Nobody believes me. I know I'm sick, I know my body (been in it for over 60 years) Sometimes feel near death.
Avatar n tn Now i am having just a little pain in that tooth and more pain in the tooth right above it. It is sensitive to cold mostly. I went to endodontist and x rays looked good. Air did not bother them. She said a root canal is not needed right now but it stills hurts to drink cold things and a little sensitive to eat. It has been hurting now for 8 days. What should I do now?
Avatar m tn I had 2 doses of augmentin yesterday to help clear the infection. And the soft tissue of the gum that was really swollen has seemed like it went down a little.
Avatar m tn To avoid more of it, floss and brush gently with toothpaste and an extra soft brush, being careful of your gum tissue and this exposed softer tooth part.
4405063 tn?1354071904 Besides porcelain veneers,is there any option to cover the discoloration of teeth after root canal?
Avatar f tn It is now Friday evening and I have taken 7 penicillin VK 500 mg, but am still swollen and the area around the tooth is black/purple. I have been gargling/swooshing salt water and applying ice to the swollen cheek on and off all day. Is this just a timing situation -- meaning, do I need to let the Penicillin have a few days to work it out?
