Avatar m tn I agree with you that irregular sleep patterns are linked with memory loss. A sleep deprived person cannot focus attention optimally therefore cannot learn efficiently. Secondly sleep itself has a role in consolidation of memory which is essential for learning new information. For proper memory function, acquisition, consolidation and recall.
Avatar f tn Clinical (medical) depression and anxiety can sometimes be expressed in this way. Also, attention deficit disorder (ADD) may sometimes be the cause of concentration and memory difficulties. Many people think of this as a childhood disorder but it can start in childhood and not be diagnosed until adulthood. Thank you for this opportunity to answer your questions, I wish the best of luck to your and your physicians in figuring out the cause of your symptoms.
Avatar f tn I agree, I would have your pediatrician assess him for ADHD, but I would also consider Sensory Disintegration Disorder. This behavior is not so different from a child who has suffered a trauma or loss (been hurt, loss in the family, parents separated).
Avatar f tn Ritalin is used to treat attention deficit disorder (ADD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and narcolepsy (an uncontrollable desire to sleep). When given for attention deficit disorder, Ritalin should be an integral part of a total treatment program that includes psychological, educational, and social measures. Ritalin may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Avatar m tn The neurological deficits following a stroke can vary from half body to lower limbs paralysis, speech deficit, memory loss, cognitive dysfunction, etc. you need to wait and watch as to how much function can be retrieved. You need to consult a neurologist for the assessment of neurological function deficit. He would be able to guide you to a neurophysiologist also who can determine your memory loss and work with behavior therapy. it is very difficult to comment any further. Take care.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed as depressed and having Attention Deficit Disorder. All my life since childhood I have been extremely anxious in social situations, so much that it has hindered my social, academic, and work life. I have turned to online classes to finish my degree, but again because of my attention deficit I am now taking Concerta. Since I am almost at the end of my undergrad degree and would like to continue in grad school and attain employment in my area of study, I want to treat my anxiety.
Avatar f tn Dr. Melanie Bee has a webpage on treating ADHD/ADD. One of the things she discusses is chiropractic adjustments. They GREATLY help the nervous system so messages get through correctly, and there is less fidgeting. This sounds very good to me. I also came across another website that says: "Using emotional release techniques, I have recovered from the pattern of behaviors called Attention Deficit Disorder.
Avatar n tn Did you start a new medication a few years ago that you remember? A lot of things can cause memory loss, that I know of, since I have memory loss problems thanks to a brain injury I got from a car accident. Don't lose faith, and maybe think about a trip to the neurologist.
3156526 tn?1343519974 Clinical (medical) depression and anxiety can sometimes be expressed in this way. Also, attention deficit disorder (ADD) may sometimes be the cause of concentration and memory difficulties. Many people think of this as a childhood disorder but it can start in childhood and not be diagnosed until adulthood. A less likely possibility in the absence of other neurological symptoms is that there is a brain lesion that is causing your memory/concentration issues.
Avatar n tn A possibility of behavioral problems such as anti-social personality disorder, or ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) may also come into play. I suggest you have him checked by a neurologist to narrow down the possibilities. Regards.
961762 tn?1265229711 I have this problem with staring, and difficulty with following conversations as well. My neuro told me that it was attention deficit disorder and increased my Provigil that I'm taking for fatigue. It really helps! I'm far from perfect, but I can follow most conversation and find that I don't stare off into space near as much as I used to.
Avatar n tn I don’t think that her stubborn nature is linked with any neurological disorder here since it could be a normal phenomenon of an ADHD (attention deficit hyperactive disorder) child who reacts quite differently in such situation due to poor attention span. Your daughter with ADHD may have attention difficulty, hyperactivity and impulsivity. Therefore, by attention deficit she does not listen to what is said to her.
Avatar f tn Following a heart attack back in October 2007, I am not at much of a loss of memory. however at times I could feel how sharper my memory was before the onset of the ailment. I would forget for a moment even names of closely known people. The event is however brief and i would soon gain my memory back.I would attribute possible reasons for this to the score o medicines taken.
Avatar n tn Although I am NOT a doctor, have you ever considered you might have a mild case of ADD (attention deficit disorder)? Your symptoms sound like mine (I'm 54), and throughout my life I've had trouble concentrating, completing tasks, etc. What got me through school, and excelling was my intellect. I'm a teacher, so as an adult, I recognized the symptoms. When I was growing up, no one knew about ADD.
