Atrovent with peanut allergy

Common Questions and Answers about Atrovent with peanut allergy

serevent

Avatar m tn What does your family doctor say? Don't self diagnose. Your sneezing could be an allergic reaction to something. Some people are allergic to dust. Your doctor may suggest an allergy test to determine if you have an allergy. It's not adviseable to just " try allergy pills". Some of these over the counter allergy pills and antihistamines are not good for your liver. Find out what is causing the sneezing. A allergy test can be quite helpful.
Avatar f tn Asthma is a combination of muscle spasms (the attacks) and chronic inflammation in the lungs. Atrovent and ventolin will help greatly with the muscle spasms but due nothing for the inflammation. You must have a medication to counter the inflammation or your lungs will continue to have issues. Good luck and hope you feel better.

Avatar f tn I have a niece that has a peanut allergy and a nephew that has a severe peanut allergy. He carries an epi pen with him but he is in his twenties and has had the peanut allergy since he was a child. My niece is only five years old. Her mom is not allergic to peanuts , but my niece is allergic to peanuts. You have to be careful of ice cream too as this could contain traces of peanuts. My niece's mom is extremely careful.
Avatar f tn I do use Advair discuss for my Asthma (under control now) and Aerius daily along with Atrovent that my allergist gave me prescription for years now. Why is it bad to use a nose spray for long periods. If I don't I have post nasal drip all the time even out of allergy seasons. It's just been a really bad bad year for pollen in Quebec, Canada. Thanks for info again.
Avatar f tn I currently take Xyzal and Nasacort for allergies and medication for asthma (Singulair and Symbicort). I'm also taking allergy shots for cat dander and grass pollens. When I go running by wooded areas I get a horrible runny nose. My runny nose goes away about 10-15 minutes after I get inside from my run. I'm wondering if it could be from allergies or if it could be from something else. Thanks.
467126 tn?1283144858 s a superstition that your child could develop a peanut allergy if you do. I, however, ate peanut butter every single day and my kids are allergy-free!!!
Avatar n tn Eat away. It is only dangerous if YOU have a peanut allergy. Because obviously you don't want to get sick while pregnant.
Avatar m tn t even eat candy with any sort of peanut butter type filling like a butterfinger. How do I find out why it gives me such bad stomach pains? I really like peanut butter and want to have it again.
Avatar f tn When they were in a public school, at least one of my kids were always in a class with someone with a peanut allergy. To my knowledge, nothing this extreme was ever done. We were just asked not to pack our kids anything for snack or lunches that had peanut products in it. It kind of does stink because you want to try to pack your kids healthy things. Peanut butter crackers is a pretty good snack I think. One of my daughters likes peanut butter and apples. But I just went along with it.
427382 tn?1298209586 Besides all the problems with peanut buteer right now. My mom was watching that doctors show, and they said it was ok to eat p.b. during pregnancy but not while breastfeeding. HAs anyone else heard this. I know you aren't supposed to give it to babies, toddlers, but no one else has heard of not eating it while breastfeeding. Anyone here hear that? I will be very sad to hear no P.B. but would like to know.
Avatar m tn t be in the same room with peanut products, because just breathing the air with peanut dust and oil can cause anaphylaxis. I know that the smell of peanuts will even trigger migraines for me, so I myself can still have a reaction if I'm in the same room with peanut products.
1528897 tn?1291833568 You could try different types of allergy medications. Nasal sprays are very effective with few, if any, side effects. Nasal steroids are the most common. There are also nasal antihistamines. You can also purchase an OTC mast cell stabilizer, NasalCrom. It is very effective. Lastly, if nasal drainage is the problem you can try atrovent. Have you tried a variety of oral antihistamines. Zyrtec has very few side effects.

Avatar n tn As allergic reactions are IgE mediated, blood tests will show increase in these levels secondary to a food allergy. The problem with the food allergy testing is sometimes the amount of food they challenge with may be not sufficient to elicit any allergic reactions. When such food is consumed in large quantities can elicit allergic reaction in the form of hives, redness of skin, itching etc. You need to note down such food also in your diary and avoid the intake in future.
Avatar n tn Allergy to peanuts would be to all forms of the peanut, not just peanut butter. It sounds like it is the undisgested part of food which happens with high fiber foods (peanuts). If you are concerned, see your MD.
Avatar f tn A couple of weeks later, I was in the emergency room with breathing problems, and I have been having breathing problems ever since. I have had asthma since I was very young, but it has been very well controlled for the past 12 years (no trips to the emergency room & only used a rescue inhaler a few times per year). My peak flow readings have been good (550+) throughout this entire process, even when I am feeling my worst.
Avatar f tn Hi, repetitive sneezing and nasal congestion with a post nasal drip and cough could be due to vasomotor rhinitis, in which the symptoms occur in response to a trigger, like eating spicy food or going outside in the cold. The primary treatment is simply avoiding the things that trigger your symptoms. It is often treated with a drying nasal spray (like Atrovent) and antihistamines like chlorpheniramine and loratadine are effective. Nasal decongestant drops too relieve congestion.
Avatar f tn Since her itch improved with Medrol, she probably has atopy (although the only way to definitively rule out food allergy is to feed a prescription hypoallergenic diet for 6-8 weeks with no other foods or treats). Have antihistamines or a hypoallergenic diet been tried?
920032 tn?1550680156 OH - I just assumed you were talking about the nasal spray Atrovent, but you could be using a neb or for now an MDI (will be off the market soon with the CFC ban). Which are you using? You could also try NasalCrom. That is an OTC nasal mast cell stabilizer which works really well. I hope that you get some relief and sleep soon.
Avatar m tn If that is the case, you should discus starting treating allergies at least 2 weeks before you allergy season starts with your doctor. As Tammy said, the treatment plan your dr has prescribed is standard for an asthma flare. The symptoms won't go away on their own. As you have seen this year, they escalate with neglect. Also, Foradil is a long-acting bata 2 agonist (LABA).
