glucose

315737 tn?1407298997 These changes are also thought to be markers for aging. The scientists say that it is the fructose molecule in the sucrose, not the glucose, that plays the larger part.20 Because it is metabolized by the liver, fructose does not cause the pancreas to release insulin the way it normally does. Fructose converts to fat more than any other sugar. This may be one of the reasons Americans continue to get fatter. Fructose raises serum triglycerides significantly.
Tbd This means that it is rapidly metabolized resulting in a rapid increase in blood glucose. This in turn leads to the rapid release of insulin which performs the role of "escorting" the glucose into your cells in order to produce ATP. Simply stated, ATP is what fuels our bodies. However, an individual with type 2 diabetes mellitus does not produce sufficient insulin or is not capable of utilizing endogenous insulin in order to facilitate the transport of glucose into the cells.
Avatar m tn In all I was in a flexible cast about three months and gained a significant amount of weight. Also prior to surgery my foot was really painful so I stopped my usuall exercising routine which included hiking once a week and tennis twice a week. In total over the course of a year to 18 months I gained about 20 lbs. BTW I am a lacto ovo vegetarian and take Vit B complex supplement and eat almost exclusively organic products, no junk food at all, no soda, so my diet is probably better than most.
Avatar m tn My neurologist explained that it has to do with irregular production of my ATP from glucose. The only cure: natural substances: coconut oil;alpha lipoic acid;turmeric/curcumin;astaxanthin;ashwagandha. Still doesn't work. I believe that i have a metabolic issue and I wonder whom to consult and what other test(s) could be made to try to determine what goes on with me.
483733 tn?1326798446 So where does D-Ribose come in? A D-Ribose molecule is the backbone of every ATP molecule! But the body isn’t very good at producing D-Ribose. Worse still, many people with FM and CFS have a large percentage of damaged mitochondria, which means there are fewer places where the Krebs Cycle can happen. Taking D-Ribose is like pouring gas in your car. It refuels the Krebs Cycle so your mitochondria can make energy more efficiently!
Avatar m tn LOL LOL Very cute But you are OUT!! Ok I'll give you another chance to play I am Tired, Went into Manhattan, to the Museum of Natural History and the Hayden Planetarium Haven't been their in 15 years Vinpocetine facilitates cerebral metabolism by improving cerebral microcirculation (i.e., blood flow to, and throughout, the brain).
Avatar n tn Does diabetes run in your family? It does in mine so I asked to take the glucose test at 4 weeks since I had it gestational diabetes with sll my pregnancy... I gained alot.of weight when my glucose wasnt managed...
Avatar f tn I went to the emergencyroom back in march. They did blood tests and my glucose was 104 which they considered high(normal being up to 99) They never said anything to me about this and as far as I know, I have never had this before. I had to go to the emergency room again last month and again, they did blood work. My glucose level was only 88. I am just wondering if I should be looking into this. Could I be diabetic? They never said anything about the high level.
937868 tn?1570328281 Boosting Adenosine Triphosphate Levels One study demonstrated that patients with fibromyalgia tend to have low levels of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the molecule that is essential for storing and transporting energy within the cells of all living organisms. One case report suggests that supplementation with D-ribose, the 5-carbon sugar that forms the base of ATP, may be helpful .
Avatar n tn Cancer or tumor cells preferentially use anaerobic glycolysis to metabolize glucose for energy, forming lactate as the end product. Lactate is then converted back to glucose at the expense of your pet. Changes in your pets ability to metabolize carbohydrates, including the livers ability to make blood sugar, which vets call "hepatic gluconeogenesis" may be permanent. Similar adverse changes are true regarding insulin production by your pets pancreas.
Avatar n tn I read on several websites that it has been noted in several studies that CoQ10 levels are usually low in persons with heart conditions and even diabetes - especially if they are taking heart meds which can cause the CoQ10 to go even lower!! I could send you a multitude of inks on it. I also found that ATP might be a supplement to research to see if that might help also.
Avatar n tn ) do it when your glucose levels are low so then u use the stored sugars ( glucose aka glycogen). when you workout when you have high levels of sugar in you blood ( 30 mins to and 3hr after a meal) you use that before the stored fat for ATP(energy) also are you walking at a normal speed? if so your not bringing up your heart rate ! so walk faster until you find yourself on the edge of "out of breath" when your heart is pumping ! also dont eat at least 3hrs before bed...
Avatar f tn I pasted some of this and all of Barb's reply from "Lemon Water and Synthroid" where I originally posted these results About six months ago my doctor reduced my Tirosint from 100 to 88 and left my Cytomel 10 the same. He did this because my TSH was .03. I take Cytomel 5 at 7am with Tirosint 88 and again at 3:30 pm. Had more labs than these done including CBC, but these (except B12 which was fine), were 'problems.' Iron wasn't done.
Avatar f tn It takes lots of electrical energy to operate a body= (Oxygen), Glucose and Phosphoric acid, ATP. Alot of ATP for converting fat and protein to a water soluble lipo-protein. drink lots of water and breath deep...then move around to circulate the blood...moving water stays pure...I could go on forever.....docs can help, but we need to understand how things work ourselves!!!!!!!
Avatar f tn Almost all energy requiring processes in the body have to be “paid for” with NAD and ATP, but largely ATP. The reserves of ATP in cells are very small. At any one moment in heart muscle cells there is only enough ATP to last about ten contractions. Thus the mitochondria have to be extremely good at re-cycling ATP to keep the cell constantly supplied with energy.
435762 tn?1244682620 According to those dreadful scales this morning I have gained 21lb and I am 26.5 weeks. Make sure to let us know what week you are in too!!! Feel free not to participate if you don't want to share this with everyone. Other forums are also doing Motivation Mondays and Fun Fact Fridays. Just some ways to keep us in touch!! Hope everyone is doing well. To change the subject... My son turned 2 yesterday which made me greatful to be having another one.
Avatar f tn ) ATP production is the production of energy and T3 is required in order for energy to be produced. ATP production must occur in an aerobic (oxygenated) environment. When T3 is not present, energy production occurrs in an anearobic (non-oxygenated) environment. One side effect of anearobic energy production is lactic acid production. Think of the weight-lifter feeling "the burn". Weight lifting is anearobic. After which he has sore muscles (lactic acid build up).
Avatar f tn do you ever have reactive or fasting hypoglycemia?
Avatar n tn My doctor has increased dose for metaformin from 850 mg to 1400 mg per day, I dont know why. Also i gained 1 KG wt in a month. How long I need to continue these medicines (Azulix .5 mg, Pioglit MF forte 15, sugamet mc 500) ?
Avatar m tn Thank you so much for your input. I guess it is the same finding about Vit C molecule and Glucose molecule and how they both look the same and why cancer cells "think" it's the right fuel for them where in fact it's Vitamin C molecule absorb. I have a little text in my journal about Vit C and Glucose. Take a look if you like. Take care, Hugs, Sunes.
Avatar f tn From my last 3 appts I've been having sugar in urine, I was sent to do the 3 hr glucose test and came back negative, but why would I keep getting sugar in urine? Anyone else the same?
Avatar n tn I had taken a low dosage of Klonopin in conjuction with my Zoloft in the past to manage extra stress. A stressful situation has come into my life and I had been debating taking some again. As my prescriber is currently away I was considering taking some of the Klonopin that remained unused from 2 years ago. The suggested expiry date is approximately 18 months passed. My question is not whether I should or should not take it...as ethically I dont believe you can answer the question.
