it just so happened I watched an online presentation by some top cardiologists last week, and they agreed that while combining gemfibrozil with statins was generally bad, combining fenofibrate with statins wasn't. It seems that the main problem was with fenofibrate and pravastatin.

I have noticed since I began taking fenofibrate that I experience cloudy urine after I eat certain foods. It only happens the first time I uninate after eating these foods and becomes clear thereafter. It seems that it is triggered with creamy and greasy foods. Is there cause for concern? Thank you.

I was able to control LDL and TGs with 10mg atorvastatin (Lipitor) every other day. Since I experienced no side effects, I now take 10mg/day, which is a low dose. Note that everybody is different. Talk to your doc!

Fenofibrate in combination with a Statin drug can cause severe Rhabdomyolysis. I know because I have gone through it. My muscle pain got so severe that I couldn't even move my arms and I wound up in the ER with kidney (also a muscle) pain so severe, I was climbing the walls.

Are you sure you were on a fenofibrate or a fibrate? There are some issues when using a fibrate along with a statin but the side effect incidence when combining a fenofibrate and statin are extremely low. Recently , I was prescribed a fenofibrate (Trilipix 135 mg) along with Crestor. My cardio wanted this for helping in getting my triglycerides down. Your numbers are high, but you need to look at the breakdown. First off, your TGL's should be under 150. Not hard, just cut out the empty carbs like breads, sugars, pastas etc. Also, drinking will elevate your TGL's so don't over do it. You could start on a Fenofibrate like Tricor to lower your TGL's it works well. A statin will not really do that much.

t know if I would start with Lipitor right now as your real issue is your TGLs which should be under 150. You could take a fenofibrate to help control that along with diet. Your LDL is borderline, but below the guideline of 130 unless your doctor feels you are a high risk for heart disease which means your LDL should be under 100.

Have you discussed this with your doctor? I was changed to Pravastatin recently. You can google the warnings and side effects of that one. I also take Tricor for my hyperlipidemia. But that is a fenofibrate, not a statin. Have you ever tried the grandfather of statins, Lipitor? Talk to your doctor and get the straight answers.

If the atorvastatin is keeping your triglycerides down, you will need to continue taking this medication for life, UNLESS, you can get the trigs down thru diet. I assume you tried this before being prescribed the medication. Your trigs are currently 1.48mmol/L which is below the limit required for safety (1.7). You are only taking a very small dosage of Atorvastatin, most people are on 40mg daily.

Hi, I have just now had an issue while going to the bathroom. I had diarrhea, when wiping I saw what I usually do, completely normal. But once I stood up to flush, my stool was completely normal still, (as in diarrhea normal) but there was a dark reddish color in the entirety of the water, I did have something with quite a bit of barbeque sauce today, which I normally don't have that much with anything, it's a redd-ish brown color, Could that be it?
