Avatar n tn Is atorvastatin or pravastatin better at monitoring cholestoral? My doctor prescribed the generic pravastatin as a more afordable alternative to atorvastatin but also doubled the amount I take (from 20 mg of atorvastatin to 40 mg of pravastatin). Should I be concerned about the effectiveness of pravastatin?
Avatar n tn It is easy to find information regarding drug-drug interactions for omeprazole (Prilosec) and atorvastatin (Lipitor). The omeprazole appears to increase the bioavailability of the statin, increasing the risk of side effects. Does this mean that the interaction is like taking a higher dose of the statin, which would provide benefit for someone like me who only takes a low dose (10mg atorvastatin daily) and has no statin tolerance issues?
Avatar n tn I have used 10mg Atorvastatin for years with no side effects. The doctor is switching me to simvastatin which reacted badly with my liver in the past. Aim is to save money. Is it safe to buy Atorvastatin online ?
Avatar m tn I think that is a one time treatment, with none after that. I did the ip like your mom, I got cisplatin day one ip, taxol day 2, and iv taxol day 8, for 4 rds. not heated. Since she had taxol they may just be doing cisplatin on your mom.
Avatar f tn I am just curious if there is anyone out there doing IP chemo. I am currently doing Topotecan with Cisplatin and they recently added Avastin. The cycle is every 4 weeks and the Topo is delivery over 3 consecutive days which is challenging. My CA125 has responded positively since the cisplatin was added. I was just wondering if anyone is doing IP treatmnets with other combinations.
Avatar n tn What is the statistic probability that Atorvastatin Ca will convert itself into his enantiomer? We believe that this conversion is improbable for 2 reasons First it requires breaking bonds in two different chiral sites in the molecule which will require substantial energy and will not happen spontaneously Second the statistical probability that the reforming of the bond in the enantiomer in this very specific way is close to zero. We would be appreciative to hear your opinion.
Avatar m tn She is not alcoholically person and never drink in her live. She has heart disease and take atorvastatin for 10 years and also donepezil and ladiomil for 4 years. Since her doctor discover problem with GOT and GPT she stopped taking atorvastatin (3mounts before) because they were suspicious that atorvastatin was reason for this problem but again GOP and GPT increase. Next step was cancer marker (CA19-9 = 34.4, AST = 5.47, CEA=3.22) and virus markers (HBsAg Es = 0.13 negative, Anti-HCV = 0.
Avatar f tn I had 6 IV of Taxatere 6 IP of Cisplatin and 3 IP of Taxol for good luck ha ha I am 16 months post chemo but I will tell you the joint and muscle pain is there. I am an active 55 year young just finished the Danskin triatholon yesterday but I wasn't breaking any records. So yes it is harder on you and is not a guarantee. But that is what I needed and I got it.
Avatar f tn Hi, I was diagnosed with STage 3c ovca in August, had optimal debulking and IP port put in. We started chemo in Sept Taxol/carbo and I leaked out the vagina the first chemo. A cuff repair was done and we tried on cycle 2 with another leak. The surgeon did laparacopy and replaced the tube which was sitting on the cuff and put it around the belly button. I was pleased because I had extensive surgery including Sigmoid colon resection and a small piece of small bowel removed.
Avatar m tn If the atorvastatin is keeping your triglycerides down, you will need to continue taking this medication for life, UNLESS, you can get the trigs down thru diet. I assume you tried this before being prescribed the medication. Your trigs are currently 1.48mmol/L which is below the limit required for safety (1.7). You are only taking a very small dosage of Atorvastatin, most people are on 40mg daily.
Avatar f tn It was decided that this was an ideal time to do a Lap procedure at NYU and have an IP port put in. This will be followed by IP topotecan the following week, three days in a row every 3-4 weeks. My doctor feels this will be the most effective way to proceed. Has anyone out there had this procedure and subsequent treatment? I would like to know what I am in store for now!
Avatar m tn I am 26 and I have IP. I was diagnosed at birth, due to the rashes. My parents and I participated in a medical study in Washington State. My younger sister was also born with IP. Recently my mother told me that as a part of the study several doctors advised her that having more children would be "irresponsible", this was news to me, and prompted me to do more research into IP (my symptoms have been relatively minor...
Avatar m tn He considers that her actual treatment has begun after surgery which is why he is pushing for 3 more treatments to make it a total of 6 after surgery? For now he is inclined towards 3 IP treatments by giving Day 1 IP Cisplatin and Day 8 IP Taxol since she has already had 6 treatments with IV taxol he does not want to give this on Day 1. Would you agree with treatment plan?

Avatar f tn m just curious how many ladies are out there that have completed the IP regimen. I did great with the IV....my surgey went really well...but my first IP was awful and knocked me out that entire week. i still feel bloated and am so anxious to start again tomorrow. i guess the good news is that i tolerated it enough to continue. For those of you who went through it.....did you do ok? i'm hoping that this more aggressive treatment will put me into remission for a very long time....
Avatar f tn s always been my understanding that IP therapy had good outcomes but were unavailable to pts who had a colostomy (which was part of my original extensive procedure). I'm at the University of Michigan. Thanks.
Avatar n tn My IP port was uncomfortable as well. I wouldn't say it was painful but it didn't feel comfortable either. I found that it was more uncomfortable when I was in certain positions. They do shift so that could be the problem. I think it's tough to say if prolonging the IP chemo will alter her prognosis.
Avatar f tn I will begin my 4th round of chemo tomorrow. I receive IV Taxol on day 1, IP Cisplatin on day 2 and IP Taxol on day 8. I handle bothTaxol treatments really well. I receive premeds of steroids, Zophran, Benadryl, Tagament and Ativan. I am very lucky because the following day after getting both Taxol treatments I do not need to take any nausea meds. I get admitted to the hospital for my IP Cisplatin for over night infusion of fluids.
Avatar m tn My mom had extensive surgery due to which they had to reconstruct her abdomen with a mesh. We are now discussing a possibility of IP consolidation for her. Anyone out here has any experience with IP chemo following abdomen reconstruction using a mesh.
Avatar f tn entering my 9th year after a stage 4 OC diagnosis. After experiencing just about every drug out there including during the last 9 months - IP treatments of Topotean + Avastin & Cisplatin. The IP treatments have reduced my CA125 from over 5,000 to 1,600 and its been stable at that level. My doctor at NYU now feels IP Floxuridine is where we go next - 3 days straight every 3 - 4 weeks. Has anybody out there had this treatment and can provide some details.
Avatar f tn The first treatment was started 3 days after surgery with a carboplatin treatment, and 5 Armstrong 21-day treatments (day1 taxol iv, day2 cisplatin ip, day8 taxol ip....) were scheduled to start 3 1/2 weeks later, which they did. During the 5 Armstrong treatments there have been two delays. After the first cisplatin IP Lori became dehydrated and was admitted to the hospital on what would have been the taxol IP (day8) day....instead the taxol ip day8 was done on day 11.
Avatar m tn Sorry folks, I messed up the question! First part should read: I fell and sprained my thumb. The thumb swelled up and IP joint was painful for 3 weeks, it is 6 weeks now and pain is much much better but the swelling hasn't gone down. What concerns s me most is the IP joint (on the nail side) is swollen and hard like bone! The rest of the thumb is swollen but soft.
