Atorvastatin calcium generic

Common Questions and Answers about Atorvastatin calcium generic

lipitor

Avatar n tn This med is generic for Lipitor, as you probably already know. I've researched and there is nothing about anger problems. The best thing to do is ask your Dr or pharmacist if this could be a possible interaction. When did you start the Zoloft? I'm asking because anger and personality chances could be a side effect of this med.
Avatar m tn The generic drug for Lipitor has been recalled if you are on this medication contact your pharmacist. Recalled for possible glass particles in the pills.
Avatar n tn My doctor prescribed the generic pravastatin as a more afordable alternative to atorvastatin but also doubled the amount I take (from 20 mg of atorvastatin to 40 mg of pravastatin). Should I be concerned about the effectiveness of pravastatin?

536009 tn?1293190781 Calcium carbonate, or calcium citrate is what you need to be taking as it is the best for the body to digest. Unfortunately all calcium supplements like iron supplements do tend to cause the old bowel to seize up. Best to drink a ton of water through the day to counter balance that. I take 5 x 600mgs tablets per day so I know what you mean! Brand versus generic is really no contest. In fact many brand name companies also supply the generic.
139126 tn?1255036991 4 weeks post op for thyroidectomy. Started with 3 weeks of 88 mcg of levothyroxine which was prescribed by my surgeon. My endo switched me to 88 mcg of name brand Synthroid because he is not comfortable with the potential variations in the generic meds and I'm sensitive to medications. Been taking it for 3 days now and for each of the 3 days I've had some shakiness between 4 and 6 hours after taking the pill. Did not have that happen with the generic.
Tbd Your doc should order a coronary artery calcium (CAC) test. The results will show whether you have any atherosclerosis (plaques in arteries) and the amount, represented as a score, will provide you and your doc much more info about whether you are a candidate for statin therapy. Regular exercise is an excellent way to help lower cholesterol. But nothing will control your cholesterol (and other dangerous lipids) like statin therapy.
Avatar n tn It is easy to find information regarding drug-drug interactions for omeprazole (Prilosec) and atorvastatin (Lipitor). The omeprazole appears to increase the bioavailability of the statin, increasing the risk of side effects. Does this mean that the interaction is like taking a higher dose of the statin, which would provide benefit for someone like me who only takes a low dose (10mg atorvastatin daily) and has no statin tolerance issues?
Avatar f tn I have been told by my doctors for years that my cholesterol is bad. I was just prescribed 20mg Atorvastatin and took my first dose last night. I got about 5 - 6 hours of sleep which isn't uncommon for me, but this stomach pain as if I'm hungry (which eating doesn't seem to help) is getting annoying. My main concern is though what im going through sounds like what Google said were side effects. Should I talk to my doctor? Considering I've only taken 1 dose.. thank you.
1542723 tn?1294447438 Quite a number of heart medications can cause dry mouth, which in turn can cause gum problems. I had a problem with calcium channel blockers, which is a known rare side effect. If your mouth is dry a lot more often than it used to be, you should drink more fluids and you could try chewing sugar free gum to entice the production of saliva. If your mouth is always dry, you should bring this to the attention of your Doctor also.
Avatar f tn Dr had changed from Lipitor (generic) to Pravastatin 40 mg, but still horrible muscle pain. Dr wants to put on another statin( saying this has less side effects) and extremly expensive...But I would like to try a Non Statin is there is one on the market, or would there be supplements that are available and have good results? Mainly I would like names of non statins to research and discuss.
Avatar n tn Brand name and generic versions of statin drugs must carry these warnings on their labels, the FDA today announced. The products include: Lipitor (atorvastatin), Lescol (fluvastatin), Mevacor (lovastatin), Altoprev (lovastatin extended-release), Livalo (pitavastatin), Pravachol (pravastatin), Crestor (rosuvastatin), and Zocor (simvastatin).
Avatar n tn I have used 10mg Atorvastatin for years with no side effects. The doctor is switching me to simvastatin which reacted badly with my liver in the past. Aim is to save money. Is it safe to buy Atorvastatin online ?
Avatar n tn What is the statistic probability that Atorvastatin Ca will convert itself into his enantiomer? We believe that this conversion is improbable for 2 reasons First it requires breaking bonds in two different chiral sites in the molecule which will require substantial energy and will not happen spontaneously Second the statistical probability that the reforming of the bond in the enantiomer in this very specific way is close to zero. We would be appreciative to hear your opinion.
Avatar m tn She is not alcoholically person and never drink in her live. She has heart disease and take atorvastatin for 10 years and also donepezil and ladiomil for 4 years. Since her doctor discover problem with GOT and GPT she stopped taking atorvastatin (3mounts before) because they were suspicious that atorvastatin was reason for this problem but again GOP and GPT increase. Next step was cancer marker (CA19-9 = 34.4, AST = 5.47, CEA=3.22) and virus markers (HBsAg Es = 0.13 negative, Anti-HCV = 0.
694885 tn?1232649948 The Rocaltrol is calcium. Because your parathryroids (which produce calcium and live in your thyroid) will undoubtedly be somewhat jostled in the process of removing your thyroid, your surgeon wants to make sure you have an adequate supply of calcium. Thus the perscription. Some people have little or no problem with this, some have huge issues. If you are not taking any T4 meds now then there would be no reason for you to take the Cytomel now.
Avatar m tn If the atorvastatin is keeping your triglycerides down, you will need to continue taking this medication for life, UNLESS, you can get the trigs down thru diet. I assume you tried this before being prescribed the medication. Your trigs are currently 1.48mmol/L which is below the limit required for safety (1.7). You are only taking a very small dosage of Atorvastatin, most people are on 40mg daily.
Avatar n tn However, since the accidental discovery of an interaction between the calcium channel blocker, felodipine, with grapefruit juice,1 it has now become evident that grapefruit juice has the potential to alter the plasma concentrations of many medications when they are taken by mouth. In some cases, this may result in undesirable clinical effects of medications.
