Avatar f tn this is for my husband and brother.my husband is 32 years old and have 72kg weight,165cm height.his lipid profile is cholesterol 217,TG-295,HDL-40,LDL-112 and my brother's cho-275,TG-117,HDL-42,LDL-202.
Avatar n tn Your cholesterol is obviously high, so perhaps trying a different brand of statin would be a good idea. I take atorvastatin with no problems, and the highest allowed dosage of 80mg. My cholesterol was 9.7 and is now around 3.
Avatar m tn I am concerned about his rise of LDL and decrease of HDL even though nothing in his diet and daily routine has changed. What kind of evaluation does my father need at this time? What else can he do to reduce his LDL and increase his HDL?
Avatar f tn My numbers were 274 for total cholestrol fasting sugars 107 hdl 36 ldl 174. Stopped taking and within 1 week total cholesterol was 198 hdl 47 sugars 94 and ldl of 143. If you have had a heart attack statins are good but find one with lower side effects. Check all your meds to see which can cause higher cholesterol. Liver and intestines produce cholesterol. Look into Vitamin D3 level of 50 alpha lipoic acid and milk thistle to detoxify liver. Probiotics with most meals and magnesium in the P.M.
Avatar m tn Now, you can focus on controlling the lipids with lifestyle measures and the adjusted medication dose. And when you follow up with your doctor you will know if with lifestyle measures and the reduced dosage your lipid profile is adequately controlled or not. For now follow the altered dosage. Regards.

976897 tn?1379167602 or do they simply take it for granted that you must have this problem if your cholesterol is over a certain value? From 2007 until 6 months ago, I just took atorvastatin 40mg and ezetimibe 10mg and did nothing with my diet to really speak of. Those meds knocked it down to acceptable levels without me doing anything. I then read about sugar consumption playing a huge role in atherosclerosis, and my Doctor even now believes it's probably a mixture of both fats and sugars.
Avatar f tn My total cholesterol was 236, ldl is 174 , HDL is 46 and triglycerides is 179 before Rosvin f.After one month course of Rosvin F and life style change my total cholesterol is 119 mg/dl (Reference <200), LDL is 62 mg/dl (Reference , <100) HDL is 43 mg/dl Reference 40-60) and triglyceride is 71 mg/dl Reference <150). New reading lies to low normal reference range. Dr. recommended to continue Rosvin F for one month. I little bit worried about dose. Let me know should I continue Rosvin F.
907968 tn?1292622204 I still have to raise HDL and lower Trig.s but all other numbers are much better. This can only come from diet or a lab mistake. My Diet changed in the last three or four weeks to include... a high fiber cereal every day with the occasional bowl of oat meal. a handful of walnuts every day(thanks Ed!). Two glasses of concord grape juice every day. One or two Oranges and/or Apples every day. One or two healthy helpings of leafy salads every day. Larger portions of vegetables each dinner.
Avatar m tn 4 I have a compromised immune system and am on truvada, norvir, and reyataz. I have been walking and watching my intakes... I do have a sweet tooth sometimes but otherwise I eat pretty healthy. any ideas?
1006041 tn?1250396768 I am a 35 year old and have found out within the last year that I am allergic to cholesterol medicine. When I take just one pill my liver enzymes go up. This has been determined at two numerous hospital stays, infact, doctors didnt believe the previous diagnosis of an allergic reaction and gave me the meds to see for themselves. I have chronic pancreatitis and have gotten sick several times from high lipid count due to my cholesterol.
Avatar m tn My Echo, Treadmil test is normal and borderline cholestrol(total-220, HDL 47, LDL 125, TGL on the higher side 330) so doc prescribed Atorvastatin 10mg and taking and now the levels are settled to very normal. When I met the cardiologist last week the BP was 160/95 and HR 84 BPM. The Doc also changed my med from Metoprolol Succinate ER 25mg to Bisoprolol 5mg once daily in addition to Losartan 25 in the morning. I am too scared to take the new med as I read 5 mg is equivalent to Metoprolol 100mg.
Avatar m tn Never in my family history. Also thyroid gland not producing enough. Then i was asked about Atorvastatin and these issues especially typ 2 diabetes. Its all over the internet but my doctors don't seem to know much about the possible connection. What can i be told about this and further how does one investigate and gain knowledge to make a good decision. I am still taking it and don't know what to do. I am following drs orders at this time.
Avatar m tn i got my cholesterol and triclycerides way down and my hdl way up with diet and exercise, i really hopes this works for you. take care.
Avatar n tn I recently switched from lipitor 10mg to lovastatin. My cholestral is 177, my ldl is 103, and my hdl is 58. I recently had the Vap test and it showed my ldl pattern was large bouyant. What to do?
Avatar n tn Two recent trials have compared the clinical outcomes of intensive lipid lowering with atorvastatin 80 mg/day and standard lowering with pravastatin 40 mg/day. In the Pravastatin or Atorvastatin Evaluation and Infection Therapy (PROVE IT) trial, patients with acute coronary artery syndromes were enrolled, and pravastatin lowered the low-density lipoprotein (LDL)-cholesterol to 2.46 mmol/l, whereas atorvastatin lowered it to 1.60 mmol/l.

Avatar n tn This med is generic for Lipitor, as you probably already know. I've researched and there is nothing about anger problems. The best thing to do is ask your Dr or pharmacist if this could be a possible interaction. When did you start the Zoloft? I'm asking because anger and personality chances could be a side effect of this med.
Avatar n tn Also, increase your level of exercise and avoid all processed foods, sugar and alcohol.
Avatar m tn However, my total cholesterol was over 300 and I got it down to 210, 1/3 by diet and exercise, ldl under 150, hdl above 60, and had a heart attack and three stents, followed by another heart attack and two more stents. I kept exercising, kept the good diet, and mixed in statins. My sister recently called me, she like me has familial cholesterol, saying her naturopath told her to get off cholesterol as it was the cause of her 'muscle aches'.
Avatar n tn High cholesterol runs in my family so even with diet and exercise my numbers are still a little high. I started getting heart palpitations a few years ago and after a lot of testing was told they were harmless PVC's/PAC's. Well, I stoped taking my Tricor and Zocor for a few months and my heart palps were gone. The problem is that my cholesterol numbers went back up. I started back on the statins and low and behold the palps returned.
1463256 tn?1286028981 I'm sorry, I can't read it as it is too small. Could you just enter your TC, LDL, HDL and TGL numbers?
