Avatar f tn I live in Canada and I see here that everyone seems to talk about cholesterol numbers in 100s, where here in Canada they seem to use a different system to show counts. Does anyone know how to convert these numbers to the numbers that the US goes by so when I read these posts I can figure out where I fit in? here are my numbers: Cholesterol 3.84 Triglycerides 1.04 HDL 1.37 LDL 2.0 TC/HDL-C Ratio 2.
Avatar m tn 4 I have a compromised immune system and am on truvada, norvir, and reyataz. I have been walking and watching my intakes... I do have a sweet tooth sometimes but otherwise I eat pretty healthy. any ideas?
1006041 tn?1250396768 I was given an additional medicine which dramatically decreases the absorbtion of fats through the digestive tract. This is called Ezetimibe and just 10mg reduced my cholesterol a great deal. Maybe your GP could look to attacking your problem from this angle?
Avatar n tn Also, increase your level of exercise and avoid all processed foods, sugar and alcohol.
976897 tn?1379167602 or do they simply take it for granted that you must have this problem if your cholesterol is over a certain value? From 2007 until 6 months ago, I just took atorvastatin 40mg and ezetimibe 10mg and did nothing with my diet to really speak of. Those meds knocked it down to acceptable levels without me doing anything. I then read about sugar consumption playing a huge role in atherosclerosis, and my Doctor even now believes it's probably a mixture of both fats and sugars.
Avatar m tn no normalization of ast/alt doesn t happen if there is some immune response 2 no it is not ezetimibe it is the statins added to ezetimibe and in both cases the increase of alt is similar to placebo and due to the dicrease of cholesterol, there are many posts about statins and alt increase.alt normalize continuing statins and does not reflect liver damage 3 that combo is only for those needing to lower cholesterol.
Avatar m tn also statins like simvastatin were reported to boost response a little but better not mix 2 statins, in a report researchers of ezetimibe effect on hbv and hcv suggested the use of ezetimibe with interferon but without simvastin ezetimibe dose is 10-20mg daily but human trials with dose 50mg daily for a limited time did not find any sides or toxicity
Avatar m tn Never in my family history. Also thyroid gland not producing enough. Then i was asked about Atorvastatin and these issues especially typ 2 diabetes. Its all over the internet but my doctors don't seem to know much about the possible connection. What can i be told about this and further how does one investigate and gain knowledge to make a good decision. I am still taking it and don't know what to do. I am following drs orders at this time.
315318 tn?1353251800 I was given Ezetimibe (Ezeterol) to add to the statin. So I was now on 40mg Atorvastatin and 10mg Ezetimibe. The results were amazing, I had even lower LDL, higher HDL and very low trigs. The great thing also is that I can eat anything I want and over two years my levels have stayed the same. Good luck in finding your problem and happy new year to you too.
Avatar f tn also be aware that the big decline will be at 48-72 weeks with your hbv mutations and hbeag negative the difference of fibroscan between 4 and 6 is meanless, you have nothing to worry you may try to see if intf response can be increased by ezetimibe (zetia) or smvastatin.
Avatar n tn High cholesterol runs in my family so even with diet and exercise my numbers are still a little high. I started getting heart palpitations a few years ago and after a lot of testing was told they were harmless PVC's/PAC's. Well, I stoped taking my Tricor and Zocor for a few months and my heart palps were gone. The problem is that my cholesterol numbers went back up. I started back on the statins and low and behold the palps returned.
Avatar m tn The researchers showed that ezetimibe inhibited HCV infection in cell culture and in mice transplanted with human liver cells. And, unlike any currently available drugs, ezetimibe was able to inhibit infection by all six types of HCV. While current drugs are highly toxic and often cannot be tolerated by transplant patients taking immunosuppressant drugs, ezetimibe is quite safe and has been used long-term without harm by people to control their cholesterol, Uprichard said.
Avatar n tn Two recent trials have compared the clinical outcomes of intensive lipid lowering with atorvastatin 80 mg/day and standard lowering with pravastatin 40 mg/day. In the Pravastatin or Atorvastatin Evaluation and Infection Therapy (PROVE IT) trial, patients with acute coronary artery syndromes were enrolled, and pravastatin lowered the low-density lipoprotein (LDL)-cholesterol to 2.46 mmol/l, whereas atorvastatin lowered it to 1.60 mmol/l.

Avatar n tn This med is generic for Lipitor, as you probably already know. I've researched and there is nothing about anger problems. The best thing to do is ask your Dr or pharmacist if this could be a possible interaction. When did you start the Zoloft? I'm asking because anger and personality chances could be a side effect of this med.
Avatar m tn one after a tooth extraction and had to use 2 antibiotics (one not responding maybe for resistance) and the recent cold which was very very mild thanks to the use of liposomal vitamin c at 40-50g daily, but now after about 2 weeks i still have little cold/cough if i dont use high dose lipo c so nothing to worry about just wanting to confirm this effect from ezetimibe on immune system and still want to combo ezetimibe and Irbesartan, but if one was to choose among the 2 drugs (if both confirmed
Avatar n tn It is easy to find information regarding drug-drug interactions for omeprazole (Prilosec) and atorvastatin (Lipitor). The omeprazole appears to increase the bioavailability of the statin, increasing the risk of side effects. Does this mean that the interaction is like taking a higher dose of the statin, which would provide benefit for someone like me who only takes a low dose (10mg atorvastatin daily) and has no statin tolerance issues?
Avatar n tn There is a combination drug Simvastatin and ezetimibe that may be better in controlling cholesterol. Discuss these drugs with your doctor. Best of luck to you. Stay positive.
