Avatar n tn You get to choose the diet you want to follow, but whichever you choose just make sure it has all the nutrients you need, including antioxidants. An exception is if you're heavily into resistance training, in which case you will need additional protein. Good luck meeting your goals.
Avatar n tn Many dieticians feel that the extremely low carbohydrate count in the Atkins diet can lead eventually to heart disease because the diet is higher in fat than a normal diet with a balance of fruits and grains in addition to smaller portions of meat. So any extreme in diet may be less than ideal in the long run for overall health than the old-fashioned well-balance diet that diabetics are encouraged to eat.
Avatar f tn Well, since you are Spaming how much you hate HCG & those trying to get healthy with the British Pharmaceutical Journey, let me say that...1994 the FDA regulated dietary supplements as food, rather than as drugs. Dietary supplements are not subject to safety and efficency testing and there are no approval requirements. If it was illegal, they wouldn't sell it on the internet or Ebay.
Avatar f tn there r many diet plans u can try, read thru them and find which 1 suits u. they r Atkins, dunkin, and many others.
Avatar f tn Check out the book "17 Day Diet". It works in three phases of 17 days and the first phase is designed to drop weight quickly and build enthusiasm. My husband and I lost quite a bit of weight on it. You can unlimited amounts of numerous veggies, chicken breast and white fish and salmon. You don't get hungry when you can eat all the chicken and veggies you want! It's not difficult either. I lost 15 lbs in one month and my husband lost nearly 30.
Avatar f tn Gym, why do you only eat stupid crabs? Easier to catch? And you do know you don't have to follow anybody's set diet to eat fewer simple carbs, especially the ones you recommend, one, Atkins, that hasn't prove out in research to product sustained weight or health and the other that is over a dozen different diets and based on faulty history. All you have to do is eat fewer simple carbs to eat fewer simple carbs. But simple crabs, well, how do you tell when a crab is simple?
1666434 tn?1325262350 t know if anyone else is the opposite, but I actually gain weight when I eat too much protein. I remember trying that Atkins diet and I felt horrible while my mother-in-law loses weight quickly with it. So its always interesting the different approaches we can take to dieting and how different things work for different people.
1756367 tn?1400884364 It is simply not necessary to eat sugar. You will get all the sugar you need to fuel your body through natural foods such as fruits and vegetables. If you are asking what are the daily requirements for carbohydrates, this will depend on what type of food plan you wish to follow (see below). I would recommend a lower carb, moderate protein and moderate to higher fat diet. How to best limit your sugar intake really depends on if you are a food addict.
5890854 tn?1377264632 I HAD SO MUCH ENERGY AND WAS NEVER HUNGRY BC YOU CAN EAT WHATEVER N THE HELL YOU WANT EXCEPT CARBS. IF YOU SWING BY THE ATKINS WEBSITE YOU CAN GET A FREE CARB COUNTER AND DIET PLAN... IT'S SUPER EASY AND THE WEIGHT JUST MELTS OFF. IF YOU HAVE ANY CHOLESTEROL PROBLEMS THIS DIET WOULDN'T BE GOOD FOR YOU BUT OTHERWISE I CANT PRAISE IT ENOUGH.
4054761 tn?1349368749 Diets like Atkins are not healthy, and typically result in all of the weight (and then some) being gained back when the diet is discontinued. It is not a change that can be maintained for life. For permanent, healthy weight loss, you'll need to make modifications that are sustainable. This means portion control, the eat less + sweat more equation, and not depriving yourself of things severely, which invariably leads to binges and nutritional imbalances.
Avatar f tn I like the paleo diet. My weight loss had stalled for a long time, and now I'm losing again on the paleo diet. There's a lot of information out there about the paleo diet, nowadays. A book called The Paleo Approach is a good introduction. I also like the PaleoMom website, and she also has a book that has just come out. Nom Nom Paleo is another good source. In effect, the paleo diet is a low-carb diet, because you don't eat any grains.
Avatar f tn If you want to follow a diet plan that can help you change your habits long term you might want to try the South Shore diet. It is more balances but still heavier on the proteins and many have had good success with it.
Avatar n tn Not to mention that whole grains and certain starchy foods are GOOD for you and are important for a balanced diet. There are certain programs that I think are healthier approaches to losing weight such as Weight Watchers and The South Beach program.
Avatar f tn The problem with a diet of this type, where you are severely limiting any one food group is that as soon as you go off the diet, you gain the weight back again. To lose weight successfully and KEEP it off, you need to choose a healthy eating style that you will be able to maintain for the rest of your life. That includes ALL of the various food groups in appropriate portion sizes. By limiting certain foods, you most likely aren't getting all the nutrients you need.
1054985 tn?1257173275 I have been on atkins for 3 years, diagnosed with MS 6 months ago. Anyone try the diet? I feel great with enough energy to drag myself to the gym on a regular basis. Wondering if anyone has had succsess.
Avatar m tn People keep telling me that the Atkins diet is unhealthy, but my labs tell me differently. I lose weight on this diet and for the 1st time in 20 year my triglycerides are below 200. Also my cholesterol has come back into the good range. I feel better and have more energy, so why is this diet a bad thing? Maybe I don't see the big picture, please let me know.
Avatar m tn Usually it's the carbs that cause the bloating, especially gluten containing grains (wheat, barley, rye and possibly oats). You could try a low carb diet, like Atkins or South Beach. Give your body a few weeks to switch gears and then you should see improvement. You'll need to take a multivitamin. You can find the gluten free diet on line. Hope this helps!
764257 tn?1234724152 I agree with the above. Talk to your doctor about whether you should try Atkins or not. I was on Atkins for approximately 5 months (something happened and I completely stopped eating, but it isn't related to the diet). The results were fantastic. By the end of the second week I (a carb lover) didn't want to eat carbs although I was still eating fruits and veggies. I lost weight and I felt good.
