Ativan withdrawal how long

Common Questions and Answers about Ativan withdrawal how long

diovan

Avatar n tn How long were you on it? Tapering slowly will minimize the withdrawal effects and make them MUCH more manageable. Why not go back to your doctor and discuss your issues the medication?
Avatar f tn I've never heard of Ativan causing those kinds of symptoms. I have been off and on it during different periods of my life, and have never experienced anything like that.
Avatar f tn if you go to some place really good (which will be really expensive and probably a long way from wherever you live) psychiatrists who specialize in addiction treatment are more likely to understand the less common cases of severe withdrawal problems and long term withdrawal problems. Your average psychiatrist doesn't know much about this stuff. But you've only been on it for 3 weeks, and that's not a long time, so for you, a safe taper will be fine.
Avatar m tn First, the second doctor is a moron. Second, your current doctor is committing malpractice. It sounds like he got busted for pushing an addictive drug on people, probably many of whom didn't need it. But he still has the duty ethically and legally to properly help you to stop taking it or help you find another doctor who hasn't abused his or her drug prescribing privileges.
Avatar f tn They are both very addictive along with every other benzodiazepine(valium, klonopin, ativan, librium, xanax) with xanax the one thing that can make it worse is the fact that if you abruptly stop using it you can have a siezure depening on your dose and how long you've been taking it. But in the end ativan and xanax basically rank about the same in my opinion, but you should really contact your prescribing doctor to get their opinion.
Avatar f tn years ago I was on Ativan for sleep. that stuff is the worst. started having weird problems from it. Paradoxical reaction or rebound anxiety? I dunno... but the more I took, the worse I felt. Pdoc gave me remeron in order to taper slowly off Ativan. it worked and I was benzo clean for 1 1/2 years. Doc and I decided it was time to wean of remeron. weight gain was awful, and since I never had an anxiety disorder before, figured it would be ok. after a slow wean, jumped off remeron at 5mg.
Avatar f tn 6 weeks is not really long enough for you to experience an actual "withdrawal" from the Ativan, typically a "short term" course of treatment is considered 3 months or less. Those people who are on Ativan short-term won't typically experience a withdrawal, but there IS a possibility of some rebound anxiety, which is probably what you're dealing with. The increase in anxiety will evebntually subside, but it may take a few weeks. Same with the sleep symptoms.
Avatar n tn t want to have to deal with being on it longer. This leads me to my questions. 1) How long would it take for Ativan to leave my system after taking 1.5mg a day for a month? So far I have missed two doses, my afternoon and night time doses. 2) Was this late night anxiety attack/hot flash just a withdrawal symptom or was it a rush of the Ativan leaving my system (kinda of like alcohol does the morning after a night a heavy drinking)?
1880256 tn?1322569908 How long have you been taking 100mg of Zoloft?
Avatar f tn s a lot to take in six days is why I ask . As far as withdrawals go it depends on how long you have been abusing and how much so if you can provide that information we will have more to work with .. Good luck ..
Avatar m tn Is it possible to have any withdrawal symptoms from taking Ativan? I am determined to find something like herbal supplements to help me with the anxiety. Please help me. Thank you.
Avatar n tn I've been taking Klonopin, but only for 7 months. I did not have any problem stopping it, but that may be just because I'd only taken it for a short time. I tapered off of it just in case there would be side effects. I think Klonopin is similar to Ativan, which I was on for about 4 years before and I had a hard time getting off of that... I had to taper off very slowly and by reducing the dosage by 1/4 each step. I would get very agitated and extremely nervous.
Avatar f tn We can't provide taper information, it's against forum guidelines. Are you still taking the Ativan or did you stop and start? How did the doctor tell you to take the diazepam? He/she is really the person you should be asking about this. It does sound like Ativan withdrawal even though you still take it. Often, the body begins to require a larger dose and a withdrawal syndrome will occur if the dose isn't increased.
Avatar m tn If you are 72 hours in already, I would say just to keep going, I would get a little bit of withdrawal effect when stopping the Ativan, but it didn't last long due to being on it such short periods of time (which is what is ultimately meant for), but they were nothing too bad, mostly just anxiety and having a hard time with sleep due to anxiety. You weren't taking a very high dose, and not very often, but every drug effects every person differently.
Avatar f tn The drawback of benzodiazepines is that not only can they be habit forming but abrupt withdrawal from these medicines after long term treatment can cause life threatening symptoms such as seizures. They are primarily habit forming because most folks build a tolerance to the medication similar to what happens with narcotic pain medications and they need more to get the same initial effect.
Avatar m tn How long did you taper the ativan? Was your taper doctor supervised? It is going to take some time for you to stabilize. I would definitely wait to start the ambien taper. Sleepy time tea is made by Celestial seasonings. There are alot of calming teas. You could also try a hot Epsom salt bath before bed. Magnesium/ calcium supplements also help with sleep, the restless and creepy crawling feeling. You are doing awesome. Keep the faith. Do you exercise or take walks ?
Avatar f tn how long has your mother been on benzos? also is she coming off cold turkey? if she is thats not good, she should be tapering off her dose. if she is having suicidal toughts then she absolutely needs to go to see her doctor if they are that bad then she should go to the emerg room asap.
Avatar n tn ativan is very addictive however//a month is not that long to have wds from it but we r all different..so it is probably the ativan//maybe a combo..but if that is all and only for 30 days..it should not take long to feel better...do u have any prior addictions like to alcohol or narcotics or any other drug?
