2046312 tn?1360379600 Caution is advised if telaprevir must be used concomitantly with medications that undergo metabolism by CYP450 3A4, particularly those with a narrow therapeutic range. Dosage adjustments as well as clinical and laboratory monitoring may be appropriate for some drugs whenever telaprevir is added to or withdrawn from therapy. No other interactions were found between your selected drugs. Note: this does not necessarily mean no interactions exist. ALWAYS consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
Avatar m tn Does anyone know if having your Gallbladder removed slows down your metabolism? or does it speed it up? What have you experienced?
Avatar f tn If you really want to kick-start your metabolism, you may also try dividing your meals up into smaller portions that you eat more often throughout the day. Every time you eat, it helps your metabolism rise, so as strange as it may sound, eating frequently can help you lose weight or maintain a healthy weight. Take care!
1203175 tn?1265553335 Anyone know how to kick start your metabolism so you start losing pounds, other than weight loss medications? Will not use those.
1397290 tn?1357777871 Calorie-intake should be according to your physical activity. 2800-3000 is quite a lot, which if you don't gain of it, you should perhaps seek professional aid.
Avatar m tn The last couple years I have been watching myself so closely. I have noticed that hypo mania causes me to eat a lot and depressive states I hardly eat for days. I weight the same in my 40's as I did in my mid teens, most of the time. I normally weigh about 180 and am pretty fit, but months of mania in India lead to extreme situations that landed me at 130 pounds. I am trying to see if my appetite changes and then my mood, or if my mood affects my appetite.
Avatar n tn I have trouble gaining weight because i have a super fast metabolism. I way 102 (wich is a good weight for my age) and i eat ALOT. My friends make fun of me for being skinny, i mean my legs look so skinny that my little brother mad fun of me which REALLY hurt my feelings. I am also nicknamed pencil because I DON'T have "curves" or "hips" and my ankles and calfs are super skinny.I hate being called that.
Avatar f tn I'm not sure to whom you are addressing your question. I haven't done a lot of research on the subject, but since hypothyroidism does affect metabolism, I'd guess that alcohol metabolism would be altered, just as food metabolism is altered.
Panda I used to walk on my breaks where I worked several years ago, but since I got let go, I just can't seem to get back into the routine. I'm a yo-yo dieter and am constantly trying to lose weight. How can I rev up my metabolism? I've gone to Weight Watchers and love their program(s), but right now I'm not financially able to attend and my weight has crept up to 195 (again). I also need to do exercises that fit my health issues (bladder leakage; 25 lb weight limit, etc).
Avatar f tn Talk to doctor he said my metabolism has slowed due to the med, as well as low estrogen, Any advice? weight is at stand still even with exercise and moderate food intake, water.
Avatar n tn m assuming my carnitine miracle has something to do with fat and/or sugar metabolism, and that whatever malfunction I have is probably outside the resources of my HMO. My question is if there's any reason to follow up with a doctor to try to find out what's going on, or should I just be happy that I apparently have my life back. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you.
Avatar f tn Metabolism is another way of thinking about the rate at which calories are burned. Heavier people interestingly have higher metabolisms than smaller people do, because they require more calories over the course of a day to maintain their body's functions. I generally don't recommend supplements to increase one's metabolism, but small amounts of caffeine as well as catechins contained in green tea will boost metabolism a bit.
Avatar m tn Thanks for posting. Her issue doesn't seem to be related to any of those things. She has been eating healthy, exercising, etc. Just had a physical and no thyroid issues, bloodwork normal. As expected, the doctor had trouble believing the story.
Avatar m tn I'm 17 and for as long as I can remember I have had problems with my metabolism in the sense that i can't stand sugar, dairy products but also in the sense of that i have on average 4 bowel movements a day and it is really starting to interfere with my life. These days how long I can go and hang out with my friends is very limited because I am constantly nervous that I will have to run to the nearest bathroom at a moments notice.
Dinosaur Green tea speeds up your metabolism like mad, 5 cups a day. Or if you don't like the taste get the capsules. Grapefruit also helps. The golden rule. Take heed! Morning, eat like a king, lunch, eat like a queen, dinner, eat like a poorper. Cut all carbs out after 5pm as your body won't burn them when you rest. High protein diet, ie fish, chicken. Try to avoid pork and beef as it takes a long time to digest... And drink LOTS OF WATER.
1476285 tn?1287337784 The interaction has also been reported with atazanavir/ritonavir. A case series describes three patients who experienced excessive opiate effects of buprenorphine during concomitant antiretroviral therapy with atazanavir, ritonavir, and various nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors. Two of the patients had been on their antiretroviral regimen for several months and reported doped-up feeling, dizziness, and feeling high following initiation of buprenorphine 8 mg/day.
Avatar f tn Everyone who mentions weight has to be subjected to my silly El Dave Diet plan. What it is, is, you only eat every other day. On the "off" days you drink milk. I went from 240 lbs. to 160 lbs. in five months that way, and I'm an old fellow with an old fellow's sluggish metabolism. I realize that's not really an answer to your question, but since I like to type, there it is.
Avatar f tn has a doctor said your metabolism is in disrepair? if so, to what does he assign the cause? if not, what makes you think something is wrong? also, confused by a couple of comments. you said you are losing on 1200cals/day. then you said you want to repair metabolic rate to make it easier to lose. if you're losing, what else are you wanting? finally, cutting back calories at this point won't really help lose body fat, as you said you want to do in the second post.
Avatar f tn You have been so helpful and so generous with your knowledge. The main reason I picked this alternative/holistic doctor was her view on hypothyroidism/metabolism etc. She points out that the tests don't always show a poorly functioning thyroid and there are many tests to do (like you suggested) and also many ways to treat hypothyroidism...Her goal is to help her patients having "optimal functioning thyroids"...sounds like heaven to me. I will try to remain upbeat.
