2046312 tn?1360379600 A case series describes three patients who experienced excessive opiate effects of buprenorphine during concomitant antiretroviral therapy with atazanavir, ritonavir, and various nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors. Two of the patients had been on their antiretroviral regimen for several months and reported doped-up feeling, dizziness, and feeling high following initiation of buprenorphine 8 mg/day. The dosage was reduced to 8 mg every other day.
Avatar n tn com Bai Shao, Mu Dan Pi, **** Gui, Sheng Jiang--all have anticoagulant, antiplatelet and antithrombotic effects. Theoretically combining them with any anti-coagulant therapy may increase the risk of bleeding. So if they are on any western anticoagulants, I would suggest that they are contraindicated to take these herbs in combination.
Avatar m tn Maybe one day they will use the PI as maintenance for the ones who dont respond to SOC and PI drugs.Ive heard of aids people liiving a lot longer now because of the PI`s too. Some are with aids for 25 years and still doing ok. "An apple a day keeps the doctor away, But if the doctor is cute forget the fruit.

Avatar m tn I have reported this to the MFAU and my consultant and everyone I can get to listen. They just put a trace on me and this stimulates a little movement and so they say all is fine. All my scans show good growth. However the last scan at 28 weeks showed a Uterine Artery Doppler reading of: 'PI: 1.20, EDF: positive but minimal'. They didn't tell me at the time that this is bad. I have only discovered it tonight by googling it.

446474 tn?1446347682 The addition of boceprevir to peginterferon/ribavirin is associated with more anemia than is seen with peginterferon and ribavirin alone.[Boceprevir PI] This can be managed with ribavirin dose reduction and, if required, erythropoietin, with no apparent loss in treatment efficacy. The additional decrease in hemoglobin seen with use of boceprevir is approximately 1 g/mL over that seen with peginterferon and ribavirin alone. Anemia resolves with discontinuation of boceprevir.
751342 tn?1534360021 OH HO! You obviously didn't get the placebo! This is pretty much the story of the protease inhibitors. You may be non-responsive to the interferon (gosh, sorry you got all the side effects and little anti-viral effect), but adding in the PI targets the virus at a completely different point. What week are you in now? Is that in the protocol that patients who failed to clear on SOC by a certain point extend SOC TX another 4 wks? Guess I can look it up.
232778 tn?1217447111 I was thinking about this recently. If somebody try's a PI, and fails / builds resistance to that PI, then re-infects somebody else in the general population with Hep C - won't the disease gain resistance to that PI? The new mutation could spread, and become the standard for Hep C (given the new resistance, will make it live longer). Are PI's a short term fix, that the virus will eventaully become resistant to?
Avatar f tn He was told to do laser PI to prevent the glucoma first. Just wonder if the laser PI is needed and is it will worsen the catarct situation since he plans to have the cataract removed at least 6-9 months later.
408795 tn?1324935675 Are these the first protease inhibitors that have ever made it as far as Phase III trials? I've been reading as always and I came across a story stating this information, but it was one of those sites where you have to pay $29.95 if you want access to the full text, so I said I don't think so.lol Anyone?
Avatar m tn I thought Incivek was for non responders. PPl who have tried became neg and after treatment it came back. At least that is what my dr. told me. I was on the Peg/Ribo my bloodwork came back neg for 10 months then when I got off of the treatment it came back. :( I don't see why they couldn't just add the Victrelis to her treatment. You would have to ask the Dr. if it is feasible.
Avatar f tn My sister breast fed and was one the pi but she had to be on a certain one. So I would say talk to your doctor about it.

Avatar m tn Dr. Robert Gish, the renowned Hepatologist / Liver Transplant Director has evaluated me and sent me a complete analysis. He is well aware of both Telaprevir and Boceprevir. In his opinion (I have early Cirrhosis), he feels the best route would be Telaprevir. His direct quote: "Telaprevir would be my primary choice in his care and management, due to my current interpretations". So there it is...
Avatar n tn If your talking about the third drug being the PI as info they have not been approved for genotype 2, 3 and 4. If you are genotype 1 some insurance companies will initially deny the PI because it is so costly. Your doctor will have to start an appeal process with the insurance company which may take a little time but usually in the end the PI is approved.
Avatar m tn t succeeding with SOC and have to add the PI late it would be better to stop, recover and then start fresh with SOC and the PI added at the proper time.
