My son 14 years old is recently diagnosed with hereditary conjugated HYPERBILIRUBINEMIA (most probably Dubin Johnson Syndrome). I would like to hear from similar cases. I am worried about his future & health, please post helpful suggestions.

Is this still a possibility even though all my other liver tests, biochemistry and hematology is completely normal? I have since started to feel mild pain and discomfort in the upper-right quadrant. Many thanks.

The grade 4 hyperbilirubinemia seems to have been serious, since that person was probably yellow and most certainly was discontinued from the study (....and at week 2!!) We came home from the hospital 2 days after she was born and on the 4th day we had an in home nurse visit. She told me she looked very yellow and took a sample of her blood. She had lost a lot of weight too and that was concerning. We got the test results back in a few hours and we had to take her to childrens hospital. If the doctors think he is getting more yellow they will take a sample of his blood. If you think he is still getting worse I wouldn't mess around with it.

One word of caution there... we also have Reyataz in the mix here. This drug often causes side-effects which may never go away, while Truvada tends to have little to no side-effects.
